Zlayer

At LAN parties that I host from time to time, my friends and I commonly partake in a gametype that I have dubbed “Zlayer”. Zlayer is a very simple gametype. Basically, it’s just regular slayer (played on teams or in a FFA setting) with random, bottomless weapons, and bottomless armor abilities.

Do you think it would be fun to have a Zlayer playlist in Halo 4? Just wonderin’.

Just out of curiousity, why do you think so? Perhaps you’ve thought of something that I’ve completely missed.

Well, assuming it’s anything like Reach, you’d just make a default loadout with an armor ability and two random weapons.
I guess I haven’t tried it yet. It’s been a while since I made the gametype.

Ok, here we go.
Switch the “Loadout Usage” to “Game Loadouts”.
Below that it says “Game Loadouts”.
Go there.
Give each a name, two random weapons, and an armor ability.
I guess you can only have 5 options per game, but you can pick and choose which ones you’d like.

when I try to make custom classes in the custom games options “random” is not a choice but it is avalible in player traits.

last time I tried that random was not an option for the primary or secondary weapons.

Wow, you’re right. They did remove that.
Forgive me, I played an… earlier version of Halo 4 than this one. I guess they took out the option for random weapons in the loadouts… just another example of them making a new game with less content than the last.

Also, even if it says a specific weapon in the loadout section, as long as it’s random in the base player traits, it’ll be random. So I guess just set it to assault rifle and don’t worry about it.

I would hate it for thoese who got a bottomless clip of something like the saw or binary rifle or any power weapon. Sure you can get it too, but it would completely suck to be the person that spawns with a pistol or something. The inceneration cannon…Oh my God that would suck. sooooooo no. Like it was said. Its fun for custom, but I wouldn’t like it as a playlist.

Because a Team Random gametype isn’t good enough to warrant an entire playlist by itself. It would be a better idea to throw it into an action sack playlist full of various weird gametypes instead.

Also, infinite armor abilities doesn’t belong anywhere at all in any playlist.

Imagine infinite Promethean vision guy spawning with a sniper or binary.

Or how about infinite cloak dude spawning with rockets?

Random weapon, okay. Random AA, sure. Infinite clip? Why not. Infinite AA? No - unwise.

I don’t see how random weapons are too much different from randomly deciding who starts as a flood or who starts on the red team or the blue team. Some times you’ll spawn with a pistol and you’ll probably die. Some times you’ll spawn with a rocket launcher and you’ll destroy. It’s just a slightly higher level of randomness in a game.

I loved action sack. I do hope they bring it back. This gametype would be perfect for that playlist.

You make a good point. I’m sure 343i is smart enough to not put promethean vision or active camo in a gametype like that.

I’ve never played Fiesta Slayer. I assume that was exclusive to Halo 3? Essentially the same thing?
