Zeta Halo Hub-World

Based on tidbits from the trailer it seems like Halo: Infinite will take place in at least some respect, on Zeta Halo (Installation 07). This is just speculation on my part, but i think the plot will likely revolve around Master Chief, the Arbiter (and SOS) and the UNSC Infinity attempting to wrest control of Zeta Halo from Cortana and the Created.
Afterwards, the captured ring will act as a sort-of hub-world for the multiplayer parts of the game. The UNSC Infinity will still host wargames training, but will now also begin launching exploratory missions onto the ring (open-world exploration with your multi-player Spartan IV and friends).

That’s what I’m hoping for.
I’ve always wanted an open world Halo where you can explore with your buddies.

The trailer definitely had an open world feel to it, tech demo or not.

That’s what I want as well. Sort of like Destiny.

How do we know that’s the Halo it’s on? We have at least 5 other halos it could be on.

Someone translated the Morse-code from the radio in the e3 trailer to “SOS ZETA HALO GRD”.

I got that impression, too, the way we see a handful of signal flares from other installations firing into the sky (suggesting that other, similar groups of marines are dealing with other, similar scenarios across the ring). While I’ve always wanted Halo games to provide players with the choice of when and where missions take place – actually, I thought Halo 5 should be that, with you choosing where John goes in his search for Cortana – I am worried that this game will incorporate too many RPG elements. The example that springs to mind is Destiny, a game I have zero interest in. I don’t want the Halo experience to dilute down to shooting stuff so numbers on my screen go up.

If, instead, we got something that is more like a robust evolution of Halo 3: ODST, then I’d be into it. That is a similar model, and without RPG stuff.

It’s way too early to tell what the game’s story will actually be like, but I think the campaign will still be a traditional Halo story, maybe with more exploration elements like in Halo: CE. The actual open world part I think would be reserved for multi-player.

Installation 07 has had a UNSC and Swords of Sanghelios base for a while now, so it being a refuge away from Cortana’s war could work.

Speaking of providing refuge, do you think that Installaion 07 could be pulled into a slipspace “bubble” like the shield world Onyx was in Ghosts of Onyx? That would be a great way to escape/hide from Cortana and the Guardians.

That would probably take a lot more resources then we have atm, so unless we find something on the Ring capable of doing this it would be difficult.

This is a really cool idea. This would let us explore the halo ring in a new way
