Zero Punctuation's Review of Halo 4

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Ben Yahtzee Croshaw, his main claim to fame is fast-talking his way through hilarious (and highly critical) video game reviews. I was first turned on to his material back when he did a relatively negative review on Halo 3 and have been following every since.

Needless to say, I anxiously awaited what he thought about Halo 4 and the new storyline. Especially since he gave Halo Reach a fairly positive review.

I was a bit shocked to see him bash Halo 4 as much as he did. Some of his complaints are definitely valid (like major plot devices being left for players to discover outside of the game), but even for him, he was a bit harsh.

What do you think? You can watch this little five minute segment here.

You do know this is Yahtzee right? Him liking a game is like humans and elites having a slumber party together. That and he was a fan of Painkiller. Not a lot of games out there today are like Painkiller.

What’s funny is that the ONE game he’s ever given a perfect review is Portal. What’s even funnier is that he gave Portal 2 quite a big of criticism. I do like the games, and are my favorite the Valve arsenal, but really?

Seriously? It had to be one of his mildest reviews yet. He almost seemed not to care about it either way.

Meh, much like Halo 4, it really wasnt one of the good ones.

USB port to USB port… Yeah he does make a good point.

You know he hates a game because it gets attention.
It gets him views.
It gets him payed.
When has he ever liked a game?

Watch the Warfighter review, he mentions several shooters he likes.

> When has he ever liked a game?

Portal, Painkiller, and Psychonauts. Those are just off the top of my head.

Silent hill and Half life 2 also.

I knew what to expect from him and it did make me laugh. It’s true though, about the USB ports lol. I know we need a reason to go from A to B but it feels like it’s for the -Yoink!- same reason in every level. Plug me in Chief! But seriously it’s lucky that Cortana’s chip it compatible with Forerunner tech. I sick of all these different types of memory cards these days, we need one that fits everything!

And the original Half Life.

Arkum Asylum was another. And yes, he’s BIG Silent Hill 2 fanboy.

I listen to Yahtzee for giggles, but hardly ever take him seriously when reviewing most games. If you went off 9 out of 10 of his reviews then you’d probably never make a game purchase again.

I must say I lol’d though, and I still enjoy Halo 4.

When ever he reviews a game I like to me it seems like more of a roast than him bashing it.

I absolutely love these videos, especially the one about Reach and the Spartans having the Noblest death contest. lol.

Humans and Elites did have a slumber party together.

does he actually like any games??

not really, he whines about 99% of the time. mostly about the stupidest things also.

I was personally hoping he’d make fun of the severely out of place and awkward “romance-thing” aspect of the plot more than anything else.
