I haven’t experienced Infinite on controller yet but after watching this video I’m just wondering… is it actually this bad? can controller players confirm? I can say for certain it’d be genuinely impossible for me to hit anything without aim assist on a controller, there’s absolutely no way 343i expects casual players to free-aim with their thumb. if this isn’t a bug then us mouse players are going to have a ridiculous advantage.
There’s references to assists or following in the menu’s during the flight, which is presumably only applicable for people with a controller plugged in.
Which IS bizarre, but I do have people in my community who finally got a PC for better visuals/HTPC stuff and still use controller.

It felt really incostistent with the AA and aiming in general was really clanky with the controller.
Ske7ch confirmed, that aiming in the flight was buggy → https://twitter.com/ske7ch/status/1443367619625504768 I hope 343i can fix that, it is the core gameplay element of a shooter.

Sorry for double post, maybe a mod can delete one of my posts^^
Aim assist in the flight was buggy as confirmed by Sketch on Twitter (mentioned in a above post).
Aim assist in the flight was really dependent on your dead zone settings. If your setting was above a certain threshold then it would turn off. But it your deadzone settings were at zero or pretty low you’d have aim assist as normal.
By default the deadzone settings were very high - meaning players experienced no aim assist and therefore struggled to aim consistently.
Theres certainly less aim assist in Halo Infinite but it’s nowhere near as dramatic as it’s made out to be online. The game still plays fine.

I dont think it zero but it is way lower compared to all other previous Halo titles… As a hardcore controller player even I had some trouble aiming but I got used to it after a few games. I think people are so used to aim assist in previous titles and are now complaining because they have to basically have to learn again.
Look, I was on Xbox Series X for two flights, and I can confirm that AA was janky. Not unplayable, but my accuracy was struggling.
It has a lot more to do with bad default controller settings than low aim assist. Several weapons still have plenty, like the BR and AR. Others have significantly less, like the Commando and Sidekick. But if you dial your deazone settings properly and use them within their targeted ranges they are manageable.
xbox controller needs more aim assist
AA was only “on” if there was movement on the right stick. The reason that people say that low dead zones added it is because they were actually drifting, so the game was registering movement, turning AA “on.” My controller drifts pretty bad so I went into training to fine-tune the settings. That’s how I figured this out.
The aim assist in infinite is awful period.
