Zanzibar base is now too open?

I preferred the claustrophobic style of the original layout in the base, I’m not sure about the way it has been made more open they moved walls and pillars to make it more “open”
Blue screen of death is gone (can be added back in in forge well the terminal can be).
I’m sure I’ll get used to new layout, would have been nice to use the old map on xbone as it was originally.

You used to be able to climb on top of the old wall didn’t see anyone try in the video be interesting to see if you still can when it comes out.

What are your thought s on the update of the map?

As soon as I saw him walk into the base via rocket launcher spawn into the upper mid entry point I saw that forged looking cover piece… so I thought right away about forging in there.
And then he said how forgeable the inside of the map was and I was readily impressed. I wanted to get a good view of the catwalk in the center top of the map.

I am really hyped for Zanzibars (Stone town?) return.

After seeing the walkthrough i fell in love with that map ASAP! I love it’s not just a pure remake and that it is gonna play a bit differently compared to the old map.

I am looking forward to trying it out! And the forging as well ofcourse makes it even better. Hand me this collection already is about all i can say!

I will have to play it before I judge their changes, but opening up the base a little doesn’t bother me as of now.

They opened up a little bit, and honestly i now looks like a decent map for vehicular action.

You can always adjust it in forge you know

The only thing that bugged me, and correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the “gate” to the base just vehicle barriers? Infantry could jump over to enter the base right? Now it’s a full fledged gate.

Didn’t even notice that until you said it.

Don’t get me wrong people I do like the new version of the map but just preferred the older one.

on halo 2 it was a gate, the halo 3 version had it as vehicle barriers only

My bad. It’s been way too long since I’ve played on any halo 2 maps. I need to go through them in some customs tonight.

Yeah, that was just the halo 3 version too.

I like the openness of the base. It means that BRs will be more effective inside, and it won’t be dominated by SMGs or the Energy Sword.

You bring up a good point. It does appear that each re done map has been made to feel more open the structures themselves larger and more spacious. My only issue is at some points this kills the nostalgia of the map along with the play. This is due to just making it feel different. Could be great though, I’m super pumped for mcc

The open interior reminds me a lot of Last Resort, which I believe was the superior version of the two maps. The old Zanzibar was really cramped inside, making it a rather uninteresting area in which to fight. Hopefully the new version plays better.

That being said, I’m quite excited for the map! Zanzibar and Last Resort were two of my favourite maps of all time, I look forward to enjoying a new version of them!

Personally I think it looks fine :slight_smile: Didn’t really play it much on H2 though

Zanzibar was far superior to last resort. I don’t really care about the opening of the base but changing the doors is a mistake. Zanzibar allowed sneaky smart players to school people using those pillars in the doors.
