Z108 - DEP - AKA Halo 5 Boltshot Idea.

Well we all love the Boltshot, such a balanced weapon for loadouts.

Yeah, right.

Anyway, I propose that in Halo 5 it is replaced with an earlier Boltshot model I thought of. The Z108 Directed Energy pistol is an 12 magazine, non non-scoped, fully automatic (not Hand Cannon/NR speed, PROPERLY automatic) Precision weapon.

Blurring the lines between automatic and precision, this weapon is a 7 shot kill with well balanced vertical recoil, it has a kill time of 1.33 seconds, and a fire rate of 1 shot every 0.19 seconds. The weapons skill gap comes from knowing that aiming at the chest initially and letting the vertical recoil move towards the head. with no scope, it fits among both Fully automatics and Precision weapon, it is unique in that it is properly automatic, not just barely.

This weapon debunks the “automatics take no skill” as you still need to pace your shots over distance.

my thought on the Bolt shot would be to turn it into a copy of H2’s magnum with a short range, low ammo, and high rate of fire.

while a solution, and not a terrible one, do we really want more reskins?

This is a bit contradictory though.

If you are forced to fire it in a not-automatic manner, and this is deemed necessary for skill, it’s actually supporting the argument that automatics do not take skill.

Anyways what you described is essentially what the magnum is now, except replacing bloom with vertical recoil.

I’m still rooting for my own redesign of the Boltshot which makes it more or less a reskin of the Boltok from Gears, which is a stand in for the current real life magnum revolver.

Slow firing and hard hitting weapon with a need for accuracy.

but in essence creating something new.

for example, automatic, no scope and faster killtime means it is much better for CQC, but the magnum win usually at distance
