You've reset MMR again haven't you, 343?

I can tell MMR has been reset with season 2 being introduced.

I’m getting stomped in every single game I play to a point where I’m struggling to even break even between kills and deaths. Has anyone else found that the difficulty has been turned up to 11?

I’m only playing because I got the S2 battle pass and I’m seriously regretting that now.

Wasted my money…

Could be just a bump in the player base, so temporarily there are more people to accurately pull in, whereas before you were above most of the player base?

I was no where near above the player base in S1.

I’ve had games where I’ve gone negative by 10 kills. That never used to happen before. They’ve clearly reset the hidden MMR because why else would there be this massive shift in skill gap?

It’s so boring and removes any fun I previously had.

Could be the case, I always felt that it was more sweaty upon release, then died down. But MMR seems to move so rapidly I would think it would correct itself after 5 games or so.

I definitely noticed yesterday’s matches felt a lot sweatier than last week’s.

I’d suspect it’s got more to do with renewed interest and a boosted player base than it does any of the backend matchmaking mechanics, but it’s possible that both factors are in play.

Hoping things regulate back out to a bit more of a relaxed experience in the weeks to come.

I’d say not really from what I’ve seen so far. Will have to ask the friends this weekend after everyone has a chance to play. I’d wager you’re just getting players who left and were near your MMR and didn’t bother to keep pushing to the MMR they belong at.

I also wonder what impact people leaving has on the MMR curve - in an extreme example - let’s say the top 20% of players literally all leave infinite for a season and didn’t bother to push their MMR up to where they belong (only played 42 games and quit). Now the 21% tile is the 1% in MMR, top 20% come back. Does it shoot those new players up the MMR curve since they have little history overall? The 21% guys have played 100000 games and the system thinks it’s identified their rightful place - so it shouldn’t bump them down much based on that trueskill 2.0 pdf out there. Seems severely flawed. Could see some people being stuck at an overrated MMR for long time in this situation - we already saw you can inflate MMR with bots.

Then add in game performance. I played half my games on PC, which performs much worse than series X - on console I feel diamond or above at worst, PC though I’m probably platinum or low diamond - but infinite and the MMR system doesn’t care about the different system I am using - even though FPS is HUGE difference in performance, same with ping. Put me on 100+ ping server and i’ll be 3rd or 4th on the team, 20 ping server, can expect 1st or 2nd usually.
