(The folowing is a collaction of my thoughts and opinions on CEA. Just saying…)
Having started from Halo: Combat Evolved, I can honestly say this is a true tribute to the legacy of Halo. (And as far as HD remakes go, it’s definitely the best out there in my eyes. Better than just up-resing the textures.)
With the new environments I find myself attempting to explore the levels then realize I’m just going the way I always have. The new looks are so overwhelming that its as if I’m playing this game for the first time ever!
Well done 343! Well done!
I do have 2 minor complaints.
1- New cutscenes: lip sync and expressive body language animations feel weird and foreign to Halo. Some of it feels like the animation you would have seen in a bad dubbed game from 5 years ago. (It probably bugs me because I’m a 3D animation student.)
2- some of the environment hit-boxes (or whatever detects collisions for the environments) don’t match with the HD world.
One big instance was when I was sniping in the first part of the Truth and Reconsiliation, I keep firing over the edge of the cliff on a grunt and it just wouldn’t hit. Switching to the old graphics reveal that the cliffside poked out much further and was blocking my shots.
#2 is too late to do anything about but I hope the 343 animators bring their best into Halo 4. (with my goal being getting into videogame animation, I need to have role models to look up to )
Aside from that, this Campaign and Multiplayer make up the best Halo experience I’ve had in a long while. A+
Now all amazon needs to do is get the flipping act together and get the game to me. I am more than slightly angry that I ordered release day shipping and still have yet to get the game. They tell me that it hasn’t even hit the transit hub. Is it so hard to ship one flipping state away? /rant
Anyway, I’m still excited for this game, I just probably won’t get it.

Not sure what your problem is, I ordered it on the 13th and selected the Release day shipping and it came to the house on release day.

Yeah, I’ve never had a problem but then again, our freeway is stop and g-stop traffic all the time. That might be a problem. But still 2 days to get to a transit one state away if flipping ridiculous.

Yeah, I’ve felt your pain. Amazon needs to get some decent quality control on their services. Light a match under their seat.
I’m always skeptical buying games from them anymore. They delivered space marine to me so late and thankfully I had bought it in a store on release day after noticing they hadn’t even started to ship it. I did the same thing with Skyrim but they delivered it on time… to my campus’s generic mail center, it took them until the next monday to re-rout it to my dorm, like they usually do in the first place on their own.
So by my experiences “Release day shipping” only works 75% of the time.
