You've been killed by them before...

Anyone who played the Halo 2 campaign has been killed by Jackal Snipers. The odds of not being killed by one is slim to none, even in Halo 3.

Well guess what?

Halo 4 Interactive guide confirms them as enemies once again.

What do you all think of this?

Jackal Snipers were the main reason why Halo 2 was my least liked campaign of all Halo games. They were slightly improved in Halo 3, but even then you still need to stop at each point and change your style to take them out. They were much better in ODST since a lot of them weren’t aware of your location and could be scouted out early.

The Focus Rifle was much better in Reach. It work much better in its intention. It supressed you, but didn’t limit you.

Unless they’re planning on a way to make them more balanced then they were in Halo 2 or 3, then Halo 4 will be only getting a few campaign runs from me. If they’re in Spartan Ops then they’d better be balanced, otherwise I might not replay them at all.

Well legendary will be impossible hahaha

Marine you go first! pushes him and sees him dead …nobody saw that! Oh found you! snipes the Jackal back I see you, I see you, I see you! takes his rifle Ooooo a trophy may I part take? goes to kill off enemies Shhhhhhhh…be verwy vewy qwiet. I’m hwnting Jackwls.

I really don’t mind them. Excluding halo 2 on legendary, I’ve never had problems with them.

I always loved Jackal snipers, and hated seeing them nerfed in Halo 3. They were part of what made Halo 2’s campaign so fun and challenging on Legendary. You haven’t really played Halo until you’ve had to reload a checkpoint on Outskirts 47 times in a row.

Hopefully they re-buff them in Halo 4.

I’m really not looking forward to dealing with them if they are even half as swift as the H2 Jackals. And on top of that we’ll be dealing with Crawler Snipes, who could even be more lethal since they essentially fire the Binary Rifle.

If they approached Legendary with a merciless mindset, it could be the hardest Halo campaign to date.

I think I may play Halo 4 on Normal or Heroic first, so I can enjoy the story and piece it together clearly. I made the mistake of playing Reach on Legendary the 1st time I played campaign, and I didn’t piece the story together as well because I kept dying and so the levels took forever.

As for the sniper Jackals. They are so annoying. Playing the “Sierra 117” level on Halo 3 on Legendary with them was a pain.

Agreed, if you’re playing Co-op its even more hilarious on legendary in H2+H3 because you try to game-plan for them and you still end up getting out-gunned by those sneaky -Yoinks!-!

Yeah they were really only super challenging on the first level of h3 when they were perched on all those dumb trees.

That’s exactly why my vote was Solo Legendary. First Run.

I’ve always enjoyed actually finding challenges, but jackal snipers take the cake when it comes to Halo games and challenges. To this day, I can’t get past Delta Halo in Halo 2 when they show up on the ravine part without dying once.

However, I do know where they always are, but oh man, Legendary runs with those guys made the game sooooo difficult. Even in Halo 3, they were deadly accurate and after you shoot one, four others are alerted to you.

I hope they get used abundantly. There’s nothing quite like walking into a new region and suddenly seeing that familiar blue helmet light on some high up perch, then your body flopping to the ground in death and going, “SON OF A -Yoink-”.

I remember the various corridors, roofs, and alleys of Outskirts and Metropolis full of wily Jackals, just waiting to one shot you faster than an MLG pro could ever manage. Halo 2 remains to this day, the only Halo game i haven’t beaten on Legendary yet because of aim bot hax. I stopped at Delta Halo because of a certain group of invisible Elites >.>

You also have to remember that the Crawlers have a Sniper unit that uses the Binary Rifle. You know, that weapon that kills you in one hit regardless if it’s a headshot or not? Then, with the Covenant teaming up with and on Legendary…

Godzilla Snipers and Crawler Snipers= Instant death?

This guy… is a victim of Halo 2. Yep.

Jackal snipers behave how snipers ought to. Stealthy, lethal, and without mercy. I’m very afraid.

If Reach had flinching instead of being scoped out, I would have agreed. The BR was certainly outmatched in Halo 3. I found it easier to use the Carbine against them.

as long as they arent the 1shot sons of … they were in halo 2… im fine with them. I honestly cant remember how many times i rage quitted on the sniper alley on outskirts in halo 2… almost developed a hernia from seeing master chief face first in the ground from as much as having a PEEK at the alley -____- still… those were good times!

Ahh the jackal snipers. Fortunately I won’t have to deal with them too much in my first run through the campaign. It’ll be normal or heroic for me. Legendary can wait.

As I recall about the descriptions, they will be sporting carbines and beam rifles. This means they will be just as powerful as Legendary Halo 3 Snipers when on Legendary. How they act, however, is up for grabs…

But we will be finding out soon…

Yippy! Can’t wait!

I hated them SOB’s on H3… Never played the H2 campaign  heard it was good tho

It’s just another area of the map for me to conquer, alone or with a friend.
