You're making it hard for me 343

Some people hate Halo 5. Not me. I think it’s a pretty solid game overall. I’d say that it was worth the money, even if not upon initial release. Just some odd decision making
And lack of content that maybe sort of kind of pisses off long time fans.
Gameplay’s pretty good though
But maybe 343 takes too long on necessary changes/additions
And maybe they should start responding more on this site and not spend all their time other places. It’s a little confusing and slightly insulting.
And maybe most things 343 does that are good are quickly followed by some catch or downside…

  • Social Playlists? Doubles? Finally?.. For a limited time… btw who decided these should be Holiday only again?
  • Forge is Awesome!.. But its missing quite a few things past Halo’s forges had from the get go. Referring to items that is. Not to mention certain glitches and random crashes that are kind of scary for any forger. Did I mention the limited file sharing despite 343 knowing how important it is that we have a full functional file browser?
  • New Gametypes like Breakout and Warzone are good additions to Halo… But at the cost of missing many staple gametypes?
  • Lots of armors + some new interesting customization options… Sort of. Limited armor customization and limited emblem editing? A sad thing to sacrifice.
  • Finally we got Machinima options!.. But wait. Custom games on custom maps won’t show up in theater… Which continues to hurt the progress of the Machinima community.
  • Trust me I’m happy with the Free DLC. But if the first few months of it are focused on giving us missing things… Then it’s hard to be happy about it…
  • Campaign? Gameplay was a nice change of pace for the series. Did something different. Unlike Halo 4. But the story fell so short. Sorry not sorry Brian Reed.

Those of you who’ve seen my posts around know that I have always been very pro-343. Defending them very often before and after release of this game. But they always seem to find a way to make things difficult for people like me who want to support them as the caretakers of Halo. Sometimes I wonder if I’m wasting my breath jumping up to defend them every time someone complains about something this game doesn’t have. Even if they eventually deal with every complaint. For most people’s standards, it would have taken too long. I just want what’s best for Halo. And simply put, 343 has to do more. I hate being someone who pretends they understand the difficulty of game development. Cause I don’t. And I know they’ve done a lot already but there simply isn’t any other way to sum up how things were in Halo 5’s first few months. 343 simply needs to do more. Not even sure why I felt like making this topic. Just had to get this off my chest I suppose.

yea i dont think anyone can instantly change anything. They are adding things to the game FYI

Trust me. I get that. But so much of it are things we’ve either had at launch in the past or are simply staples of the franchise. Halo 5’s launch could have been so much more successful if something as simple as infection or non-ranked playlists had existed in the game. I mean, how could they not even have a non-ranked Arena playlist? Bravo spilled the beans and admitted the game hadn’t really been designed for them to easily incorporate social. Well. Why not? Sometimes their priorities seem to be in odd places.

I agree that the game has fun gameplay (even though I hate sprint, clamber, and the like), but I can never bring myself to say it with all these stupid issues that shouldn’t have existed in the first place.

If they are going to pull this crap again with Halo, I’d just like for an H3A and then let Halo rest in peace.

Well. If Halo is ever going to rest in piece. I don’t think it’ll be with a H3A. I can only hope we have a solid launch for Halo 6.

They had 3 years to get this game on the table. And yet they don’t have some of the most important gametypes that defined Halo. Now they’re dragging updates to hold onto players. isn’t there something wrong?

It’s because of Halo 4. Everyone yelled at them for making a “noob friendly”, “too casual” game. They said competitive Halo was dead. And 343 made the most competitive Halo since … if not Halo 2, then ever. I think they assumed Warzone would be the go-to social play thing, but … I don’t really care for it.

I want Action Sack back.

And even fro a game that is supposed to be competitive, it still features some nooby features lol

Namely the huge bullet magnetism, weapon spawn countdowns, and clamber.

slowly adding things that have proven in the past to keep the player base saturated is not the way to save this game

arena is too sweaty, warzone is beating a dead horse at this point

there is nothing redeeming about this game for a casual player to want to stick around

That’s true. But let us not forget which game gave us the Noob Combo.

All I read was the title, and all I could think of was, “that’s what she said.” prevented me from reading your short essay.

I get your points and absolutely agree…
Sacrificing Armor/emblem customization was a really dumb decision…

Other things… yeah I know they will come (Social, other Playlists, Maps etc)
But what buggs me out the most:

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PAGE. AND YET THERE IS NO FRIGGIN’ 343 EMPLOYEE POSTING THINGS OR ANSWERING QUESTIONS, TELLING US WHAT THEY ARE WORKING ON… they are not even answering that they ACKNOWLEDGED BUGS OR PROBLEMS.

There were a few threads about that warzone bug… you didnt even know if they got it that they had a freaking gamechanging bug in their “holy” gamemode, because they do NOT inform in the forums. Bravo posts once in a while some irrelevant stuff on the news page, but wow…

343 is a friggin huge company… get 2 employees to take care of the forums goddammn…
I would even do it for free, but INFORM THE FRIGGING COMMUNITY!!

sorry… that just needed to get out

Loved your post OP. Very refreshing to see a fan of the game actually admit it’s shortcomings instead of blindly following 343 to the grave. While I disagree with you on actually liking the game in the first place, I 100% agree with wanting to like the game and not being able to due to most of the faults that you listed.

Well. Even with forge’s missing items and the missing gametypes some awesome stuff has been coming from the community in the way of customs.

But we don’t have a proper file browser. So even the reasons a casual player does have to stick around are out of reach.

Communication directly with us (The Community) is definitely always been a point of dissatisfaction from halo fans. Sometimes 343 really doesn’t do as much talking as they should be.

Yeah, 343’s priorities are extremely out of whack.

Bravo posts on the halo subreddit all the time, so why not go there?

Hmm… They really said the game wasn’t designed for social? I can totally see it, but that sucks that it wasn’t :frowning:

What annoy me is the lack of any announcements i mean what in hell is januarys update we don’t have a clue.

I too would like to know when the next update is going to drop.
