Halo Infinite needs the Reach Grenade Launcher.
Now that I’ve had a taste, I know I don’t like traditional open worlds in Halo at all. New Mombasa Streets (ODST) worked because it was a bunch of interconnected arenas. It stayed true to the Halo that people remember. I couldn’t care less about whatever opinions other people have on this (Even Joseph Staten’s). The open world fad needs to come to a close. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t.
Core gameplay dictates whether it does or does not work. Halo was originally (As a final, release day product) built as an arena shooter of sorts (even if you don’t like the idea). Gameplay needs to be altered to suit the environment the player is placed in. It wasn’t in infinite. And you wouldn’t want it to change in Infinite because then it wouldn’t feel like a mainline Halo game.
If the open world idea stays in mainline Halo games, the games need to be built more like New Mombasa Streets. More purposeful arenas that have both strengths and weaknesses that require the player to figure out how to utilize their environment correctly. No cheesing it with infinite Equipment. Of course, these environments need to be built around how the player Fights AI, so we avoid the issue of multiplayer maps showing up when we fight campaign AI (like in Reach and Spartan Ops) and not working quite as well as they should.
