Starting off, not trying to create a flame war. Or start anything of the sorts.

Now If I recall correctly, waaaayyy back in the day (Halo 2-Halo 3 timeline). When people wanted a quote “single shot UNSC based rifle”. Because a lot of people didn’t like the BR. And just for the simple fact of adding a gun like this to the sandbox.

Bungie creates a teaser for Halo 2 displaying a Battle Rifle that operates JUST like our LightRifle does now (3RB unscoped, 1S scoped. Mightve been the other way around, haven’t watched the vid in a long time). People were MAD excited, I know I was. I wanted THAT BATTLE RIFLE.

We ended up not getting it, and got the reg. 3RB Battle Rifle we still use to this day. For years people kept begging for a “Single Shot UNSC Rifle”. Bungie listens and finally implements one into their sandbox, with Halo: Reach.

NOW, people argued for the LONGEST how inconsistent the DMR was. How Bloom ruined it, etc. etc. etc. THOUGH these are the same people who BEGGED, and BEGGED, for this guns existence.

343i jump in and reduce the bloom on the gun, making it IMHO WAY better then it was. I enjoyed the TU DMR a lot. All of you on the other hand, kept whining. Saying that it’s even WORSE then what it was BEFORE the TU Fix? HOW?!

Jump forward to Halo 4. We get all the rifles all in one place (and I knew this was gonna happen), and it got to the point where they had a war amongst themselves for superiority. The DMR won that said war.

SO, now that we have a GOOD DMR in a Halo game. One that doesn’t require bloom, or spamming your shots, or being lucky. But actually (tries) to make you aim your shots and be more accurate. The thing becomes a complete BEAST and dominates all other rifles/guns.

TL;DR - After the community begging SO long for a single shot UNSC based rifle. Now they want to get rid of it, and say it’s too powerful.

YET ALL OF YOU were the ones who basically created this DMR from all your excessive whining about Reachs. You finally got what you wanted, why are you still complaining?!

Well, the fact that it’s overpowered and ruins the balance of the multiplayer may be a reason…

But that’s the point of me calling you guys hypocrites. Sorry to say it but it’s the BEST word to describe the situation.

Well if it’s OP and ruins MP, why’d you want it in the 1st place? My point is the fact for years people begged for a single shot UNSC rifle. We finally get it, and finally get it in a game where it’s pretty much perfect.

And people still complain? Even though that is WHAT YOU WANTED? Am I wrong?

Not to mention that not everybody wanted the DMR to not have bloom. I, for one, thought that bloom was a great feature for the DMR in Reach.

  1. I enjoyed the DMR in Reach. While bloom is bad, it isn’t any more or less random than the spread on the Battle Rifle in previous games.

  2. I don’t want the current DMR removed. I just want to see it nerfed or the other weapons buffed to its level, preferably the latter. Variety is fun and good for the longevity of the game.

  3. I have nothing against a zero bloom DMR. Especially when it was a completely optional feature confined to one playlist.

I never knew about the pre Halo 2 teaser with a hybrid BR; that’s pretty cool.

I, for one, really appreciated the finesse of Reach’s DMR at launch. If you tried to spam desperately for that last headshot, you often came up empty-handed and muttered something like “rabblerabblerandomness…rabblerabbleruinstheskillgap”. The beauty of bloom was the level of patience and timing that it required to excel with.

If a player spammed the trigger, they relinquished control of the outcome to the game’s vector randomizing functions. That’s not a broken game or decrepit mechanic, that’s just a lack of situational awareness on the part of the player. In the end, though, bloom was/has been reduced to almost-nothing at the end of Reach’s life and the beginning of Halo 4. Look where we are now: 5-shots for everyone!!!1!!!

Yeah except it wasn’t in any way, shape, or form.

All people want is a consistent utility weapon that actually takes skill to use effectively with little to no randomness attached to it. The H4 DMR is not that. You’re taking everything at face value. Learn about the subject matter before you go calling everyone else names.

OP, I completely 100% agree with you, but you have to understand the majority of this ungrateful community that is destroying my favorite franchise.

The same people you speak of are like spoiled children at Christmas. They asked mommy and daddy for an iPhone 5, but all they got was a Galaxy S III. So, they throw a huge fit expecting (for some strange illogical reason) that mum and dad will change their minds.

Same principle.

Closest thing I could find. It’s not THE specific video I was talking about. BUT, it does showcase the hybrid BR.

EDIT: Okay, I tried to put in my “Best XBOX Demos” OXM Disc that has said footage on it. And the 360 apparently cannot recognize it (though it did a long time ago, know this for a fact).

So sadly I can’t look to see. I’m gonna try and find the video I guess…

So when we finally got something we’ve been asking for for ages and it’s awful we’re supposed to go along with it simply because we were the ones who asked for it?

I never asked for a Single Shot UNSC weapon. The BR was my ideal weapon.

I’m also not asking for the DMR to be removed I think once the other weapons are buffed the world will be a better place
