What’s your view on Firefight?
For me, almost every Firefight match boils down to Arcade Fight, with everyone spamming infinite Rocket Launchers and Fuel Rod Cannons.
Is this really your idea of fun and challenge guys? Just using the same weapons over and over?
Perhaps 343 should tweak the loadouts so that the weapons are random or something. Get people to actually use other weapons every once in a while. The way it currently is it feels like I’m gimping myself, and my team for not using a Rocket Launcher or Fuel Rod Cannon, and that’s just not right (in my opinion).
It also makes it less challenging. It makes Firefight so easy you really just cannot fail unless half your team goes AFK. It might even incline people to go AFK less often. Perhaps the difficulty should be raised of the enemies (pretty sure they’re only Heroic).
What’s everyone else views on this? Or on Firefight in general?
Please be constructive.
Playing firefight limited is is a good way to get a challenge out of firefight. Its pretty fun for me.

Thing is I find the population to be quite small in Limited. Note I’m a UK player so population sizes may be different for me in comparison to US players.
Also people don’t really use mics much which takes away the teamwork aspect that’s so vital to this style.
Hate arcade, love Limited. Though I would like Limited just alittle bit tweaked. The weapon cache? Not infinite ammo. ODST’s firefight didn’t have infinite ammo, and that would add more pressure and awareness. Keep infinite ammo for Score Attack.
I love firefight but i have never played arcade because i dont want to get an “arcady” vibe while playing it. Limited is more of "if i do that i’ll die’ or “dont go over there” or “stick together” type stuff. More of a tacticle decission based thing.

I enjoyed ODST Firefight, it was actually pretty -Yoink!- hard. It seemed like it actually got the balance right in terms of challenge and difficulty.

Exactly. The limited ammo cache would make it all that more difficult to survive.
Limited is small because it is difficult (or more difficult than Arcade). Also, due to the amount of players that are horrible at FF who are on this playlist (Warrant officers with guests being the most common), it makes it that much more frustrating for when you die for the first time and all the lives are gone from these leetches. As for random weapons, they do have a playlist for that (Fiestafight), but four-player Firefight tends to wind up Arcade or Rocket fight. If you need a teammate in Firefight who doesn’t spam Rockets/FRG, send me a friend request and we’ll play sometime. Most of my friends are all about the multiplayer, so I don’t play firefight with them often (leading me to play Doubles due to lack of explosive teammates and the abscence of Rocketfight). I’m always willing to play Firefight, but I’ll play multiplayer too.

Also dont forget how god dam good you felt when you got the endure challenge on ODST. FIrefight was all about teamwork then. If anybody wants to play Limited PM me and we will try to get 4 people together to play limited. I already have 1 person

Up until I jacked a Brute Chopper. Those poor Covies never stood a chance XD

Numbers are always so small in Limited or Doubles that it makes finding partners almost impossible.
Overall I am a fan of the way Firefight was developed for Reach. However, it aint perfect. While I have nothing against Firefight arcade - its good fun - its overwheleming popularity over the other variations is a problem for players who want a serious game with other like minded players.
In addition, there are too many game variations in Firefight Doubles and Score attack, some of which have very little relavence.
Finally, the standard loadouts in most Firefight games are not all as balanced as they should be or particularly well thought out. They dont encourage speciality gameplay and most the time everyone just ends up rushing into battle the same way regardless of their loadout.

Doubles is actually pretty straightforward. You have X2 Score Attack, Arcadefight or Limited Doubles. It’s 4-player games that have way too many variants, especially with everyone voting Rocketfight (My first maxed out commendation was Get Loud). The loadouts in Arcadefight are pretty poor though. The Rocket Launcher and FRG should be switched, the Specter class needs a different form of weapon (other than both precision). The Hologram class needs a better ranged weapon (perhaps the DMR should go to them). The AL class seems balanced (Shotgun complements the AA).
Let them pick FRG, I stick at the back with my DMR and come 1st or 2nd mostly with 0 deaths! While FRGer’s die loads, show what a bad weapon it is. It should be a Grunt only weapon and in Campaign only also!
ODST FF was perfect…but they killed it in reach IMO with:
-Unlimited ammo stashes
-Ending after one set
-AAs
-Loadouts
-Generally too easy
I usualy take 3 friends with me. That solves population and voting issues.

Agreed with the unlimited ammo. They can keep it in arcade, but not limited.
One set, so that people can rotate and play with different people.
AAs… really? Armor Abilities don’t break Firefight. -_-
Loadouts as well… give me a break.
And yes, it is easy.
> I usualy take 3 friends with me. That solves population and voting issues.
I’m normally in a two man party. Problem is that even if we both vote for a different gametype, if the other two vote Arcade Fight they win the vote. It seems the system weighs toward Arcade Fight in the event of tied voting. It’s the same with voting no gametype vs a particular gametype.
It could use a lot of work.
Just look at MW3’s survival mode. It gets increasingly harder and your enemies constantly multiply. In Reach you will expect the same 6 squads of 4 coming at you over and over again, in a futile attempt to kill you. There’s nothing remotely survival-ish about it; there’s infinite ammo, the enemies are predictable, and never actually get more difficult or multiply. ODST firefight was just so much better: it was actually challenging, and the skulls and random enemy order made it even more difficult.

lol AAs broke REACH but that’s another topic entirely…
You say that AA’s and loadouts are fine yet admit it’s too easy? These are the things that make it too easy!

It’s not too easy because they’re there. It’s too easy because of the difficulty, infinite ammo, and poor loadout balancing.
