Your view on the UI

Personally, this UI is the worst I have ever seen in a game. Period.

Its so unorganised and jumbled, I had no clue what I was doing when I wanted to form a party for the first time.

Yea, I hate the UI for 4. Makes things more complicated than it needs to be.

“Hey, you know that industry standard setting UI that Halo brought to console gaming.”

“yeah?”

“lets -Yoink- it up for Halo 4 because you know, why not.”

“Ok!”

I think it’s fine for the most part but some of the interface is kinda weird kinda like when changing file options and the Y button is shaded out for some reason in the corner of the screen. It took me a little while to figure that out but besides a few odd-ides I like it.

It’s horrifying! :frowning:

Its disgraceful. Why would they destroy it and just make it confusing.

It’s definetely a step backwards.

Even though it looks slick and crisp, the only and big flaw is the ability to see your teammates or other players. (Well actually there are many others, like you can’t cancel the start timer(unless you’re host), or you can’t see what map you’re about to JIP (what a joke).)

When you get in a party with 16 people it’s impossible to see anyone’s name unless you individually highlight through each card until you get to what you want, it’s even hard to find your own card as well sometimes.

But hey, why complain, 343 will not admit to any mistakes nor will fix them.

The UI is defintely a step backwards. Takes time getting used to. Pregame lobby has everyones GT sideways, cause you know… Everyone is playing the game sideways. Makes complete sense…

I would thank this post, but some reason I can’t thank anyone???

Is this just me but why can’t I thank anyone, I can hit reply, quote and what not. It happens at home and now at school…What gives?

Edit: NVM apparently it doesn’t work right away… Strange cause at home it didn’t even do it after I refreshed.

It’s just change for the sake of change, if you ever go back to Reach it is so easy and quick to navigate. This along with removing the secondary weapon on the in game HUD seem like really dumb changes just to try and make it look unique. Unique, however, is not functional or good to look at.

I do like the menu music though.

Hate the halo 4 UI. i guess i’m used to it by now. this is the one thing i would have liked to see carry over from Reach. so sad.

To add to this, alaphabetical order? Why on earth list players in pre/post match lobbys this way? Ridiculous… I find it annoying when trying to evaluate the team you’re about to face that you can not tell if they are partied or randoms.

This UI is totally unhelpfull. Such a hideous design. I am trying to think of another game with a UI this poor. Nothing springs to mind.

.

It is pretty bad, but not as bad as MOH:Warfighter.

People moan that Halo 4 is too dumbed down.

People moan that Halo 4 should be dumbed down more. O_o

But meh, it’s a little confusing.

Reach’s menu was awesome, another example of 343’s favorite theme “changing for change’s sake”. On the other hand they didn’t keep the good things Reach brought in like the grenade launcher. That’s how you make games, keep the bad, throw away the good…

I dislike it as well, takes some getting use to. It is an eye sore to see names on the side rather normally on screen.

God awful.

I just played some Reach (yeah sounds impossible doesn’t it? Check my Reach stats) and the UI was the first thing I noticed. Absolutely breathtaking!

Most noticeable thing about H4’s UI has to be how you can only navigate horizontally one way. Custom Games options, campaign mission select screen. It’s very annoying.

Two phrases keep coming up whenever Halo 4 gets discussed: “A step backwards” and “Change for change’s sake”. Gee, I wonder why?

I guess we’re the mugs here. No public Beta? That should have set warning bells off in our heads. We’re dealing with a company here who doesn’t know what they’re doing, nor do they care what we think. Shame on us for buying into the hype.
