Your Top Forge Requests

Please post you top forge requests for Halo 4.

  1. Ability to burrow underground.
    (To a reasonable depth)

  2. Ability to change the environmental conditions.
(Ex: making it rain or changing the gravity level in small areas)

  3. Ability to spawn all the vehicles in the game.
(Ex: You can’t spawn the Troop Hog, If it were up to me you would be able to)

  4. Undo Button!!!
    (Because we all screw up)

  1. Change water level. I’d love to be able to make the water height higher or lower.

  2. Doors that open when a player is close enough and close when no ones is close enough.

  3. Turret Platforms. Like the ones you see in the campaign of Halo 3: ODST.

  4. Able to place corpses.

  5. Trees. They gave us rocks, now it’s time for trees and bushes.

Some more cosmetic options such as destroyed vehicles, weapons fire, and blast marks would be nice.

Trip mines or land mines that you can’t see. Also, ones that are more visible like in Reach.

Landscaping and ability to change the weather conditions.

Forge pieces with unique architecture in Forge World type environment.

More sandbox maps like Forge World, don’t have to be as big, but also have one like Forge World.

Ammunition magazines that you could place around the map.

1)Texture/skin options for stucture (UNSC,Covenant,Forerunner,Flood,Rocky,Civilian, etc.) instead of just grey forerunner structures while not having to buy more cR for blocks of different skins. And how about more diversity in objects, such as buildings and platforms.

2)Terrain Editor
Would be able to raise the height of the terrain your reticle is pointing at(Ever played From Dust?)and holding RB,holding LB will lower the land.Although it would have its limitations(max height, max depth, amount of it used)it would be a revolutionary tool in forge.Should also be for a blank slate map(no geo features at default)

Also changing what the terrain LOOKS like(grass, snow, rock, glassed, flood biomass, metallic, etc.)

3)Gravity Barriers/Zero-G
Would be like a kill zone barrier or hill marker, having an arrow point in the direction of gravity’s pull, and being able to edit the height and width of the area also like hill markers. could also be able to turn off gravity in these barriers

4)All weapons and vehicles from every Halo game
Even if certain weapons, vehicles,or factions aren’t in H4,then they should still bring back favorited weapons and vehicles for customs

It would also be nice to fly Pelicans and Phantoms, for large maps. They were an Easter Egg in Reach,so why not?

5)Skybox and Weather Effects
We should have an option to change the Skybox in Forge. There could be space,on a Halo or in a Shield world,in low orbit,Mountains, sunny, night, various campaign structures in distance, etc.

Weather was originally going to be in Reach, but Bungie didnt have enough time.Im sure 343 will do it if they have time

6)How about tutorials for gametype setup?
Really self-explanatory.Kinda frustrating that you can make awesome maps but have no clue how to make them w/ the gametype you want.343,this is a must.

All I want is different item textures and different environments so all my maps aren’t green with grey walls. Anything else would be cool, but isn’t that big of a deal.

I was reading your thread about what Halo 4 forge should have and I wanted to add to your list. Halo 4 is confirmed to run on a revamped Halo: Reach engine, so I doubt any of these changes are very likely.

Note: As a forger I think that Halo: Reach has a great forge.
I am trying to help you by making this list, so please help me add to it.
Here is everything I have come up with so far:

>Give us more scenery items along with the usual structure-only items. In Halo 3, we had things like turret cases and computers. While they were cool and all, we really don’t have that many scenery items. You need scenery to set up the environment of your map. All Forge World maps generally look the same and it’s getting old.

>Have an editor that lets you cut into any made piece. Could be called ‘sculptor’ or something.

> Under the “Natural” catagory in Forge World, it is filled with rocks. Tall rock, slanty rock, tiny rock, whatever kind of rock your heart desires. But what about something like trees/bushes? Think about it.

> Only two lights on that gigantic map? Come on. Really? We could use 4 in Halo 3.

> Special FX: The only ones I really use are Juicy and Next Gen, because the others just make it hard to play the game and hurt my eyes. I don’t see why anybody would want to use something like Nova besides taking pictures.

> What if, along with lighting effects, we could put an orb into the map that caused music to play in gameplay? Nothing like some good old epic Halo music to get your blood pumping in a match.

> Dead bodies. This idea has been tossed around a bit, but it would be cool. Especially for creepy infection maps.

> Pelican/Spirit/Phantom dropships. Maps like Forge World are definitely large enough to accomodate them. Also crashed versions of these ships for scenery purposes. Maybe even some Sabre/Longsword/Seraph wreckage. In fact wreckage for every vehicle.

> Ammo boxes. I miss them. I don’t like putting a gun on a map just so players can get ammo. It makes no sense. Give us rocket ammo boxes, .50 cal boxes, and whatever kinds of ammo boxes we may need.

> Shield doors/solid doors with switches, and gravity lifts with switches. To turn them off/open them. Switches could be seperate items, or could come with the door free.

> Breakable windows and objects. Stuff we can interact with.

> Weather FX. Great idea. We shoul be able to choose from night and day (free) anyway. But we should also be able to put on rain, lightning, and severe weather. Not talking about tornadoes and stuff but you get the point.

>Moving Pieces- platforms that move back and forth

>Weapon Holders- Fixed weapons are no fun

>Water Levels- Place water to any level that you wish

>New FX- Something like CE graphics effect

>Skins- Every object should have skins to help differentiate
them and provide real scenery

>Custom Shield doors- Keep what you don’t want out

> Ability to place Callout Zones- Small hill-like objects that provide a callout on the side of the screen like in matchmaking.

>Ability to place soft walls- Instead of death barriers, these invisible walls prevent any player from going past.

>Every Thus-far featured weapon- Even if it is not in Halo 4

>Ability to place equipment from Halo 3

>Sound effects- ex. You go around a corner in infection and hear a flood scream

>Cameras- Allows the user to place cameras around the map and they will show live footage back on a screen somewhere else on a map

>Variable Vehicle Options- Speed options and gravity options for vehicles

>Super High Playspace- The ability to make a skyscraper would be nice

>Elevators- Making your skyscraper climbable would be nice

>Water Vehicles- A boat or two

>A space map- Comes with flyable spacecraft

>Trait hill zones- Hill zone that alters a players traits. ex. a low gravity area or an area where movement is slowed by wind.

>Ability to plot a trajectory for large sky vehicles to land (like a planned and timed airdrop)

>Scripted Wildlife- Have a fish or bird fly/swim past you at a certain point

>Timed Decay- Similar to the H3 map isolation on which the scenery became “Floodier” over time

>Ability to place AI- Create a Forged Firefight Map

>Every piece should be destructible to an extent

>Ability to port maps from Halo:Reach or Halo 3

>Customized signs- Write your own message

>Place artificial Hazards- Like the train on Terminal

>Fire

>Cut and paste function- Take a part of one map and put it onto another

>Roadways and a tent

>Destructible Elephant

>Be able to swim/ no armor ability needed to use sprint.
I like the idea, but what if Sprint, Swim, and Jetpack were the only armor abilities? I think I would like that, and you might even be able to customize them to be default.

>I dont know if this is possible but it would be cool if it was, anyway there should be something called a vehicle zone. in the center of this zone, is a control terminal that can be changed to a certain type of vehicle controls like drivable or flyable. Any forge piece placed inside this zone will be treated like a vehicle and would be able to be driven. This way you can make your own cars or ships and you would be able to drive them via the control terminal.

>Temperature effects- Maybe it would be cool if you could alter the temperature on a map. Maybe if you had a low temperature then the water could freeze. Maybe with a high enough temperature metals would be more flexible. Who knows?

>PC capability- I think there should be a version of forge released for PC if anyone would be willing to pay a little extra to buy it. The PC would allow people to make more intricate maps and maybe even custom pieces. It would be even better if we could port these to the xbox for fun custom games.

> Paint tool- Self-explanatory. Be able to paint a unique design onto an object

>Temperature effects- Maybe it would be cool if you could alter the temperature on a map. Maybe if you had a low temperature then the water could freeze. Maybe with a high enough temperature metals would be more flexible. Who knows?

>Man cannons with fixed landing points that would always be the same

>Ladders- My favorite thing about Halo CE.

> I don’t know what to call it, but it would be simply amazing if you could be playing on a map of yours and have an option to see all of your other maps in the distance. I think that allusion would be a cool little easter egg that everyone could enjoy. This is kind of like how Forge World was originally supposed to be.

>Custom Lights- the ability to make a custom-colored light. I think it would also be cool if the light could be represented in different ways. Maybe spotlights or a strobe light would be cool. I think it could be great if there was the option to turn on electricity and then hit a switch to turn on the lights (like Black Ops)

> Object material settings. I know this sounds supremely difficult, but what if you could have your block and make it look like sand/ice/dirt/metal/grass/wood/etc., and then be able to choose what physics the object follows. For example, what if you could have an ice block that had the physics of a trampoline? Or a block of grass that made all vehicles EMPd? Maybe a steel block that could be burned down like wood. I say yes

  1. Undo (obviously), also copy, paste, cut, flip and despawn would be nice (the technical stuff)

  2. Glue (so we can move whole structures we built if we screw up, and for #3)

  3. Custom Objects (saving things you glued, if you made an awesomne structre you can save it and use it again for future maps, also it should be uploadable to file share, if you want to you can enter Unglue mode through a menu option to edit a glued object)

  4. Multiple texture for structures (human, forerunner, ruin, wooden, covie or whatever)

  5. A snowy forge map (we already have sandbox as the desert and Forge World as the green- forest environment)

  6. Multiple Skyboxes (night, morning, noon, sun set and so on) also, weather options would be nice (not as important though)

  7. Switches that can spawn stuff, despawn stuff, open doors, activate animations (i.e. Zanzibar turbine).

  8. Huge budget so that we can put more than 16 pallets (and the likes)

  9. More crazy sh*t like the golf ball/club/tin cup that can make for awesome custom creations with NO custom game support- let people be creative. Halo basketball anyone?

  10. Much more natural options (trees, rocks, bushes, water puddles=>custom water options?)

> 1. Undo (obviously), also copy, paste, cut, flip and despawn would be nice (the technical stuff)

Wow, some nice ideas there, especially the Undo/Glue ideas, which would make it so much more user-friendly. I think 343 should take note of this.

If they would just fix the graphical slowdown issues with merging objects, it would be 10x better right there. This is really the #1 priority because soooo many great maps are essentially made useless for using in practical settings due to screen lag.

Other than that:
COLOR!
Undo
Multi-select (for moving large multi-piece structures all at once)
Mirror object
More of everything (maps, pieces, etc.)

  1. Burrowing underground.
    2.Weather Fx
  2. More exact coordinate system.
  3. Time of day options
  4. Zero-g zones.
  5. multiple object textures
  1. Texture pallet for most or all objects

  2. The ability to cut through, or dig through any objects and most basic (base of level) objects.

  3. Weather and background FX

  4. All vehicles from previous Halos, all or most weapons from previous halos.

  5. Forge tripwires and buttons.

Tripwires are invisible lines that can make certain objects spawn, despawn, move or explode, depending on what object(s) you assign it to, just by having someone walk or drive through it. Buttons do the same thing as tripwires, except someone has to press the button to make it work. The possibilities for tripwires and buttons are literally limitless, multiplayer maps, puzzles, mazes, race maps, machinima, etc.
