Your "Top 5" for the Title Update

I only have 2 :
1.Make it so campaign commendations actually earn you credit past silver. I am not talking about when the commendation levels up I am talking about when it gets past silver you literately don’t get anything until the next rank. That is a bit ridiculous considering the fact that some of these take forever to even get to gold after silver (Crack Shot,Flawless Cowboy,Demon, and Super Soldier I believe are some of the hardest).

2.Try to develop a system where the challenges give you a reward based on rank. In the higher up ranks 1000cR is nothing when you need like 100k more to rank up. For example this weeks reward for my rank is a nice amount, but for people who are just starting out that is a serious boost and for people higher up that is like 1/10-1/20 of what they need to rank up.

  1. A 1-50 playlist. Definitely in MLG at least. Arena/snipers ranking would be nice too. Even other playlist like swat

  2. Fix the melee system. I’m tired of people just running up to me and beating me down.

  3. PLEASE fix how assists are awarded. It’s really not cool…not being recognized for putting shots on a guy.

  4. Add more maps to the rotations, especially in Team Classic. There are a lot of classic maps out there that can be used.

  5. Give the option to boot players repetaedly killing themselves.

  1. Armor lock nerfed (It’s a crutch for less skilled players. It makes the game too easy for them and makes them overpowered.)
  2. Grenades nerfed (Seriously. This is the number one thing that kills me in matchmaking. Not armor lock, not random DMR headshots, not even getting double pummeled (which I refer to as being “herp-derped”). Grenades are the bane of my Halo: Reach existence, they’re way too easy to get a kill with, and they’re just another crutch for people to fall back on when they can’t shoot.)
  3. Remove mute-bans (If you really want to mute someone badly enough, it only takes a few seconds, there is no need for a system that automatically mutes people for you, and it’s much too easy to earn a mute-ban. And if you didn’t know, mute-banned players can’t hear their teammates either, which I think is a huge setback in team-based gametypes.)
  4. Remove bloom or tweak it. (Because of the luck factor.)

That’s about all I can think of for this post. Lots of great stuff in this thread, I hope some of it gets implemented!

1. Permanent Ranking System
No, I’m not complaining about divisions or lack of 1-50… I really couldn’t care less how it’s displayed. What I hate is the fact that it’s impossible for casual players to even be given a division in the first place. “Minimum 4 games, 10 days per month?” Who the heck thought this was a good idea? I should be able to play whenever I feel like it, not forced into playing Arena for “X amount of games on Y amount of days” like some kind of second job. I don’t mind needing to play a certain amount of games, it’s the time limit that’s annoying. You go through all the effort just to have them reset, which is why Arean fails and nobody plays it. Make ranking permanent (and don’t say that it’s impossible due to people who stop playing, obviously this new system would require that you not be ranked based on the total populations’ standings in the first place).

2. Armour Lock
Frosting should never have been put into the game. The latency should be absorbed by the ONE user, not the 5-15 other players. Also, remove the ability to spam it and get rid of offensive capabilities (other than against vehicles).

3. Bloom
It should not reward spamming, that should only work for extreme close-range. Since this will reduce kill times, it would also require DMR/Pistol being 4-shot kill weapons or remove no-bleed through for precision weapons. Also, make bloom entirely optional through custom settings.

  1. I personally like bloom for the fact that I can out-DMR idiots who don’t know how to pace shots, but also hate it because you can get lucky and still get the kill first. I want a system with shot pacing, without the use of luck. I have no idea for that in mind :confused:

  2. Better arena ranking system - someone going 0-14 can get 5% gold division (JUST saw a post about it in Bungie forums, it’s true).

  3. Only Armor abilities can only be PICKED UP but everyone starts with sprint. No active camo, but camo and overshield brought back like halo 3 (but you can’t use your ability when you have it). No other equipment though.

  4. Easier way to view someones “skill”, such as K/D and W/L.

removing bloom fixes all problems with it. You still get penalized for not pacing, but you can spam and if your really good hit the head every time.

Well the arena ranking reset is good in my opinion. I was stuck at lvl 36 in Halo 3 for weeks, no matter how many wins and stuff I got, even though I got noticeably better. I want to be able to get a higher rank.

This has been covered numerous times on the forums, as it is extremely easily counter-able. Even in Halo 3, this could have been patched with hardly any change at all.

The reason people get “stuck” at a rank for a long time is because trueskill takes into account ALL your games, even if you significantly improve and start winning all of them. So if you lose 500 from sucking, even if you go on to win 300 straight, trueskill still thinks you suck.

All they needed to do was limit your games counting towards trueskil to the last 500 or so. In this way, the system would see that you have lost 200 games and won 300, thus it would adjust your skill as it should be much more quickly.

Edit: Though all that said and done, the reason you were a 36 in Halo 3 is because you were a 36. You are clearly much better now in Reach, but at the time, you did not deserve a better rank. As for “stuck for 3 weeks,” you hardly played any Team Slayer in that time. What did you think would happen, you play 10 games of TS and 30 of Social Slayer and expect to go up 5 ranks? You need to earn it first, it’s not supposed to be easy.

  1. when halo anniversary comes out, allow the ability to chose the multiplayer to be on the reach engine or HCE engine
    the two mutliplayers would be seperate match making so that you can have the option to switch between the two but have the same general playlists.
    2.Allow the ability to toggle certain button combonations (BxR, RRX) in custom gametypes. ( most likely not going to happen)
  2. Allow the abilty to edit specific weapon damage/ resistants ( as in like DMR set to 3shotkill, pistol set to 4 shot kill, etc.) in custom gametypes.
  3. Allow the weapon bloom to be toggled in custom gametypes.
  4. when halo anniversary comes out and if request #1 is under effect. IF POSSIBLE allow for the multiplayer to be system linked with the original CE game.

1.) Armor Lock needs to be removed or at least nerfed. Make it so you HAVE to stay in lockdown mode for the duration of the power-up. None of this “pop into armor lock for a second, pop out, melee, re-lock, pop out and melee again” crap. Reduce the crap out of the duration.

2.) Vehicle health like Halo 3. I’m tired of being killed by a bunch of dudes spamming DMR rounds when I’m in a tank and killing me. The DMR should do very little damage, if at all, to heavy vehicles.

3.) I don’t have much of a problem with bloom, but make it to where spamming isn’t as effective. A removal of bloom wouldn’t bother me, though.

4.) Remove camo as an armor ability. You should have to fight for your power-ups. Being given active camo off the spawn is ridiculous. Make it like Halo 1, 2, and 3. Same with overshield. Bring that back, and remove armor lock.

5.) Needler. Fix it. It wasn’t horrible in Halo 3. In Reach, it’s insane. You don’t have to lead your target at all. It’s truly the noob weapon.

I realize you guys have your work cut out for you, but we as a community are counting on you. Please do this right! If nothing else, just fix armor lock!

I’ve posted once before, but I have something more to say about grenades.

They are not grenades, they are pocket nukes. And worse than that? They are random as hell.

In my time playing Reach a ridiculous amount of my deaths have been from grenades. They are spammed constantly and half the time I swear I’m playing CoD 4 because it’s like martyrdom, if I’m anywhere near a grenade when I kill someone it ALWAYS kills me, without fail.

But on to the randomness. Too many times I have been killed by a grenade from 5 feet away only to see another grenade hit a guy from right under his feet or even in his face and not even take his shields down! I see it every -Yoinking!- day when I’m in team slayer; I throw a grenade around a corner to flush someone out who’s been camping there, only to have it do minimal damage to his shields when it’s a tight corner with no room to run from it. Conversely, I’m often killed by grenades in wide open rooms while frantically trying to sprint/jump away from them, it makes no sense to me.

To make matters worse though, I seem to be a grenade magnet. I get blown up by grenades without even knowing where they’re coming from! I have actually been chased down stairs, around a corner, and down MORE stairs by a grenade, and it killed me.

I actually once played a match of team slayer where every single one of my 10+ deaths was by grenades, it was horrible.

Please please PLEASE tone down grenade damage or their damage radius. I can’t take all these grenade deaths anymore!
