Certainly does

  1. Armor Abilities. Remove the ability of choosing an armor ability at the start. Everyone starts with sprint by default and make any other ability(s) spawn on a map much like invisibility and over-shield did in halo 2 and 3.
  2. Vehicle Damage. It’s utterly ridiculous that team DMR shots can take down a Tank/Wraith,Ghost,Warthog,Banshee so fast. Make the health of the vehicles rely on the health of the driver much like Halo 2 and 3. In those games people actually feared vehicles. Nowadays I don’t even hop in the gunner of a warthog because I know my murdering spree will be short-lived whether the driver is good or not. For the love of god put the Scorpion tank back on Hemorrhage and other Big team maps!
  3. Jump Height. This doesn’t have to be tweaked to the point it’s as floaty as the jump from Halo 2 or 3, but at least make it less difficult to “ninja” kill an opponent who is approaching what he thinks is an unsuspecting foe from their six.
  4. Weapon Bloom. I understand that removing bloom on all weapons would quite possibly effect the balance and relevance of the DMR and Pistol, but something needs to be tweaked here so random spammers aren’t winning coin flip shoot-outs. My answer to this problem would be to remove weapon bloom and possible slow down the rate of fire for the pistol so it does not take precedence over the DMR. (I don’t know if it’s because of the bloom factor on the DMR I feel this way, but I prefer the BR over the DMR and OMG do I miss the Carbine and the Beam Rifle. The substitutes for those two are fail. The focus rifle isn’t even a sniping weapon as it easily gives out the assailant’s position and takes FOREVER to kill anyone.
5.MAPS. I don’t really have a 5th so I’ll just ask that you guys consider bringing classics like Terminal, Waterworks, Lockout, Guardian, Valhalla, Sidewinder, Zanzibar, Turf just to name a few. I feel with my 1. suggestion these maps would function and play much like their originals. I know that there are maps created in forge to imitate these masterpeices, but forge maps are so monochromatic and boring.

All I want is the ability to toggle bloom on/off in custom settings!

Top 5:

  1. Please 343 don’t change anything major, don’t give in to the people that complain about armor lock and bloom. This was Bungie’s final Halo, their swan song, please leave the gameplay the same. Nothing is game breaking right now and the game plays well, as Bungie intended, I just don’t want to see what Bungie made be changed heavily. Bungie shipped the game therefore it is the way they intended and it works. I’m sure Halo 4 will be awesome, but I would enjoy the ability to always be able to go back to “Bungie’s” Reach.

2-5. Fix glitches, visual glitches, minor tweeks here and there that don’t change the way the game plays.

I hope 343 sees this, thanks.

Please give this a read.

To me, Halo was always known as the most competitive game simply because of its “Halo” characteristics and gameplay elements.

I feel as if Bungie catered to the new players and to the paying community with Halo: Reach, rather than their die-hard fans. Many gameplay elements in Halo: Reach were picked up from the “Call of Duty” series, no matter which way you look at it. I mean, come on. “Sprint,” choosing classes before spawning… these are all removing the ‘Halo’ out of Halo.

Call of Duty has always been “who sees who first.” That’s why Halo was always the chosen game… because by having energy shields and health, there was always a chance to fight back. When a human has a chance of survival, no matter how small that chance may be, they’ll fight. How many times do you see someone just stand still in CoD, because they know they’re dead? I see it all the time. However, Halo was always known by my friends and myself as the competitive game that was defined as “who could outsmart and outplay who.” The game that combined hand-eye coordination to keep a reticule on another player’s head whilst falling through air and at the same time, predicting others’ movements along with oneself keeping an unpredictable movement in order to stay alive. Every death is another point closer that the other team is to winning.

Halo: Reach just removed all of those elements for me. I was a complete and utter loyal Halo-fan from Halo 1’s release in 2001 until Reach’s release in 2010… I actually sold my Xbox 360 in disappointment. I’m fully aware that losing one customer is of no worry to anyone in a corporate industry… though I’m also fully aware that I’m not the only one who walked away.

With that said, some simple gametype options would suffice for the most of us, I believe.
Give us the ability to turn off bloom. Give us the ability to turn off all armor abilities (this may be an option already, as I previously stated, I sold my Xbox.)

Lastly, give us ranks. What’s the point of playing Call of Duty when I can play Call of Duty?
Oh wait, maybe I meant… no, that’s right.
The only competitiveness was when we had a rank to lose. Now that one can’t even lose rank, the general consensus says, “Just leave the game.”

Thanks for reading.

  1. Toggle bloom on/off

  2. Ranking System 1-50

  3. More than 1 player in theater

  4. Teammates should have different sprint sound effects than other team

Yeah I have played the game, a lot. And no it isn’t Halo 3 or exactly like other Halos. All games always have things over powered and underpowered and it’s not perfect and no game is or ever will be. There will always be people who complain no matter what. I enjoy Reach, I enjoyed Halo 3, I enjoyed halo 2 and all the other Halos and they are not supposed to be the same thing over and over again. Reach is hella fun to me and a ton of others and I would rather have it stay the same then be altered in any major ways.

it has never been about the people complaining, its about the validity of their complaints.

if the DMR was made so that the person who shot better won 100% of the time, at every range, how would that negatively effect ANYONE?

this is just one of many examples that people simply cannot logically argue against.

Im gonna address actual problems here.

  1. Fix the matchmaking system, for example, when I choose good connection, I dont care how long it takes, I want a good connection, not some host from halfway across the planet.

  2. Fix the matchmaking system to match me up with people who are the same skill as me, not someone who just got the game, or guys who constantly teamkill.

  3. Make the bloom more consistent, and reduce bullet magnetism so people who spam MISS more than they hit, because its annoying when i someone lose a DMR battle just because i time my shots so my boom fits the persons body / head, and they are just tapping as fast as they can and get lucky. this goes for the pistol and any other weapon that has visible bloom as well.

  4. ARmor lockup, reduce the time it can be used / only allow it to be used ONCE per recharge, so people re-think how they use it and don’t slow down the game like crazy…

  5. Add a high value target system, so people that camp in ridiculous areas, are highlighted on the whole teams screen.

The weapon and vehicle sandbox needs a total overhaul. People are not mentioning this so much simply because there are still more annoying things in Reach ATM, but you may notice 3 of the most talked about things - DMR bloom, Individual Weapon Modifiers and Sword Block - are encompassed by what I will talk about. Of course all this could be fixed by Weapon Modifiers, but asking for that seems to me like a bit of a big ask. Alright, here goes:

Weapons

AR: Pretty much fine, but would be improved by having a CE sized clip.

DMR: This one needs some serious change and I have 2 proposals:
a) First of all, it should take 4 or even 5 bullets to deplete health entirely, not including a headshot, to weaken the DMR’s long-distance strength. Second, increase bloom reset 1.5x and increase bloom growth speed 1.5x too. Weaken vehicle damage about 0.5x.
b) Remove hitscan from the weapon, shorten scope to 2x, increase bloom reset and bloom growth 1.5x and make it a 4-shot kill. Weaken vehicle damage to the point that a group of 3 will all use every single bullet they have to destroy it.

Magnum: Increase clip size to 12 and make it a 4 shot so a skilled Magnum user can always beat an AR user.

Sniper Rifle: Lower bullet magnetism on it specifically, weaken its damage to vehicles to the point that it takes 10 bullets to destroy a Banshee and make it only destroy 4 “pieces” of health when fired at the body of a Spartan with full shields.

Shotgun: Increase range to CE level.

Spartan Laser: Increase its capacity to 5 laser shots and make it destroy ANY vehicle no matter where it hits them.

Rocket Launcher: I have two fixes for this one:
a) Add ground vehicle tracking to counteract the fact that it does not always kill drivers when hit head-on.
b) Increase vehicle damage so that it always blows them up.

Human Turret: Make an overheat toggle or just remove it altogether.

Grenade Launcher: More of an aesthetic change, but make that little “x1” marker that appears on the GLs monitor more prominent, preferably by a greenish light that appears in its place.

Fragmentation Grenade: Once again, this one needs a big change, so I have 3 suggestions:
a) Increase detonation time by 1/2 a second.
b) Weaken damage so that a perfect grenade removes all shields and 3 “pieces” of health, so that it leaves no lasting damage.
c) Weaken the damage slightly in conjunction with an increase in movement speed and jump height.

Plasma Repeater: Increase shield damage 1.5x and and increase bolt speed 2x.

Plasma Rifle: Increase health damage and overheat time 1.5x.

NR: Make it a 6-shot and it will be perfect.

Plasma Pistol: Decrease tracking to Halo 3 level and possibly give it a 2x scope to help Elites in the first round of Invasion Slayer.

Needler: Reduce tracking slightly to compensate for the slower movement speed in Halo: Reach.

Energy Sword: Add an on/off toggle for Sword Block, or remove it altogether and increase draw time.

Focus Rifle: Make damage relative to distance. The further the beam travels the more damage it does, and the closer the lesser, to increase its long range effectiveness and decrease its use as a “shotgun”. If possible, lower the saturation of colour on the beam, as for a sniper it does not do to transmit your position to everyone in you vicinity.

Concussion Rifle: Absolutely fine.

Plasma Grenade Launcher: Increase tracking to about halfway between the Beta and now, preferably leaning towards the Beta.

Fuel Rod Gun: Decrease RoF 1.25x.

Gravity Hammer: Decrease swing time to its Halo 3 level.

Spiker: Increase health damage 2x and lower RoF 2x.

Plasma Grenade: Absolutely fine.

Vehicles

As a general change, add both a turret-overheat and boost meter (as opposed to unlimited) on/off toggle.

Warthog: Make it heavier in general. ATM it flips much too easily, and can even be flipped by some well placed DMR shots. It should have ground-hugging physics, much like Halo 2. Also increase the accuracy of its turret.
Gauss: All of the above apply, but also remove the glitch that allows the Gauss to fire through walls.
Rocket: Allow the rocket to home-in on all vehicles.

Ghost: Increase the power and speed of its plasma bolts and remove the fact that it can be blown up by AL.

Mongoose: Once again, make it much heavier. You will know it is fix when the Mongoose no-longer flips after going over a Hemmorhage hill at an awkward angle.

Banshee: Increase the power of the Banshee’s plasma cannons to Halo 2 level and increase the recharge time for the Banshee bomb 3x. Make flips take longer and have them go further.

Scorpion: Decrease RoF on main cannon 1.75x

Wraith: Increase RoF on main cannon 1.75x. but decrease splash damage on main cannon.

Falcon: Absolutely fine, leave it as it is.

Revenant: Change the cannon so that only a direct hit kills someone and a nearby hit can blind you for up to 3 seconds. Remove the auto-aim glitch and the glitch that sometimes launches the Revenant for miles if it drives over an awkward piece of land.

Of course, all of this could be fixed if every vehicle and weapon had an individual modifier, but I fully understand how unlikely that is. Thankyou for your time 343i : )

1: TOGGLE on/off or REMOVE bloom
1A: 1-50 Matchmaking system

Those two are a MUST

And for the love of god, PLEASE fix the matchmaking system. The amount of times I have searched “skill” and ended up with a team that hopelessly outclasses me anyway is countless. I do not give a crap about search times, I would rather end up with a balanced game and have 5 minutes of searching than have 1 minute of searching and ending up just rage-quitting because I can’t get a single kill.

  1. Most Important - Don’t change too much to make it like older halo games. Reach is it’s own entity, and while not perfect, it’s a great game that doesn’t need that much done to it.
  2. Armor Lock - Perhaps a visual cue that someone is using it before it is actually used (ie, you can see the jetpack on someone’s back). Reduce the amount of time it can be used. I do think it has its place in the game, however.
  3. Banshees - way too powerful between bombs, roll, guns, boost, splatter. All the talk of making vehicles more resistant to gunfire would only make this worse. More heavy weapons (Spartan Lasers) on maps that have Banshees would help this. Make it weaker to damage.
  4. Playlists - Have a couple larger maps in team slayer (4v4) that can support vehicle combat (ghosts, warthogs).
  5. Expanded Armory - Add new armor, armor effects, FF voices, unlockable colors, emblems and backgrounds, concept art, mini-maps. Just give me more to spend my cR on.

Have you ever heard of the term “localised problem, localised solution”. To fix the Banshee, don’t make other vehicles all be susceptible to DMRs, just make the Banshee weaker.
What you are saying is: “oh the Banshees guns are too strong, lets make its body weaker!”
What the logical solution is: “The Banshees guns are too strong, lets make them weaker!”

Keep all the vehicle mayhem in the bigger team playlists.

> 4) Teammates should have different sprint sound effects than other team

I’ve actually thought of that myself at several occasions. It’s really annoying when you snipe or play a game without motion sensor and you hear a panting sound coming up behind you and you can’t tell whether it’s a team mate or an enemy.

I know some of you will say it’s no big deal but as I said it’s annoying, not gamebreaking.
