Your "Top 5" for the Title Update

1.Toggle Bloom On/Off, AND increase the bloom so spamming is pretty much useless at ANY range

  1. Matchmaking ranking system

3.Bleed through on Melee

  1. No bloom

and

  1. NO BLOOM

3. Visuals

  • The Visor Mode for Elites and Spartans should be like Halo 3’s Visor Mode. This is because in Halo Reach, there’s nothing graphical about the Visor Mode compared to Halo 3.
  • More Armour should be available in the Armoury.
  • The colouring for your character needs to be like Halo 3’s colouring compared to ODST and Reach.
  • For surprise Armour, you should be able to get them in a certain way e.g. Skulls on the campaign and/or multiplayer maps, Terminals and Vidmaster challenges.
  • Armor Effects need to show more of it, just like you can fully see the Spartans AE.
  • The Ammo Capacity doesn’t show the looks of it like Halo 3 e.g. Rocket Launcher, shotgun, Magnum and Sniper Rifle. This is because on Reach, the Rocket Launcher, Sniper Rifle etc. has " … " rather than it’s actual kind of ammunition show like Halo 3.
  • You cannot have the option to have at least two wrist pads on or have a wrist pad on the right arm e.g. Emile and Jorge. With both wristpads on, you cannot have a Robot Arm on any arm. With the wristpad on the right, you cannot have a Robot Arm for your right arm.
  • You cannot have Robot Arms on both arms or on the left arm.
  • You cannot have the colour stripe and you cannot choose what kind of stripe you want for your Spartan and where you want it e.g. Noble Team. You use to change the colour of the stripe on Halo 3 that was on your thigh but not anymore.
  • Multiplayer Voices needs to be enabled for your character. You can on Firefight but if you were to do that, you would have to select what Firefight Voice you want and once you have selected that, you will be offered another choice which is the Multiplayer Voice.
  • More voices need to be in Reach e.g. Captain Keyes, 343 Guilty Spark, Prophet of (one of the three), Tartarus, Gravemind, Arbiter and also Lord Hood.
  • There should be more than “Armor Primary and Armor Secondary” for choosing what kind of Armour Colour you want e.g. Jorge, Cater and Emile. Whatever Armour you have selected, the colour option should tell you what you want colouring on your Spartan e.g. Collar White Stripes on your Armour etc.
  • Emblems from Halo 2 and 3 need to come back for Emblem selection.
  • Upgrades for Helmets need to be tweaked with more and better upgrades e.g. Mark V Upgrades.
  • Mark VI needs to have no white stripe above the helmet e.g. Halo 3 Masterchief.
  • When you pick up the overshield, it should be able to show that you have an overshield rather than trialed flames on the floor which makes no sense.
  • When you are Sprinting and walking, your view should be able to move about rather than stay still. The problem is e.g. Blind Skull while walking and running.
  • You should also be able to see your own chest rather than just your legs.
  • Firefight on Reach in Visor Mode needs to be like Halo 3: ODST.
  • In Forge, the colouring for Structures needs to be like the “Team Color” colours rather than the “Object Color” Colours because the colouring for “Object Color” is too dark and not right compared to “Team Color”.- In Forge, the objects that you have to share (apart from everything from Structure) do not need to be shared at all. They should all be seperate so for example: 1 Red Light placed and all the others are 2.
  • There needs to be more Buildings for Forge and they also need to be a lot cheaper.
  • Effects for Forge do not need to be shared. They need to be seperate like the previous suggestion.
  • Weather Effects need to be placed on (future DLC).
  • Expensive Forge Objects need to be a lot cheaper if they are not ment to be shared.
  • There needs to be more teleporters. They do not need to be shared and they need to be cheaper. This is because you do not have enough teleporters that go in order “Alpha - Zebra”.
  • The camera view for the Gauss Hog and Rocket Hog for your Spartan needs to be changed. Because it makes no sense that Spartans can look through pictures to kill their enemy rather than the camera view that you got for Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST’s Gauss Hogs.
  • Energy Blockers need to be placed on like Avalanche on Halo 3.
  • Colouring for Vehicles need to be enabled for all vehicles rather than just a Mongoose and a Shade Turret.
  • Shade Turret should not be classed as a Vehicle. It should be classed as a Covenant Weapon.
  • There needs to be more Shade Turrets e.g. Fuel Rod Turret and Long Range Plasma Shell Turrets.
If that was to be enabled, there should be UNSC Turrets on the UNSC Weapons e.g. Chaingun Turrets, Gauss Turrets and Missile Turrets.
  • On the Armory Color selection, there needs to be a Visor Color change for that. This can only be activated when you have bought all of the visors. Or at least new visor colours for DLC.
  • You should at least be able to view your own chestplate while your looking down. Because to me, it makes no sense when you don’t.
  • In Theatre Mode, 4 people should be able to watch videos and video clips when those 4 users are in a party.

4. Gametypes that need to come back

  • Bring back V.I.P.
  • Bring back Basic Training for players that have just started playing Reach. Users can only play this when they are Recruits until they are a Corporal.
  • Rocket Race needs to come back. Rocket Hog Race needs to be improved on Multi Team e.g. Grenade Launchers need to be taken off and Warthogs need to feel heavier like Halo 3’s Warthogs.- Race Gametype needs to be brought up. FFA Racing and Community Maps that are selected from 343i.

5. Bugs

  • Gauss Turrets do not need to shoot through Forge Walls.
  • Assassination animations should not cancel and count as an assassination instantly e.g. The Metal Lift on Refection.
  • Revenant passengers do not need to have super aim assissts.
  • Users on the Turret (Machine Gun Turret, Plasma Cannons and Warthog Turrets) need to recieve melee damage on the back and also they need to become assassinated when the user assassinates the enemy that is on the turret.
  • On Infection, a survivor should not be able to gain a Bulltrue from the infected when the infected kills that survivor.
  • On Infection, a survivor gets killed by an infected and the survivor dies. But the survivor kills the infected after he or she dies and it should not come up as a betrayal.
  • On Playlists with different spawning e.g. Invasion. The user that dies should be able to spawn instantly when it goes to 0.
  • When a user spawns from their death, the countdown should be like Halo 3’s countdown where you hear the final beep.
  • In Forge Mode, when an object that’s Phased is partly inside a wall as an example, when you set that object as Normal or Fixed, it should not cause any lag to the game.
  • When you are shooting at a vehicle, as an example: The vehicle gets lasered while you are shooting and the other user with the Laser does not recieve the kill, the user that was shooting that vehicle gets the Laser Kill. Even though they did not have a Laser.
  • Spikers overheat when you shoot for too long but it doesn’t stop the user to cool the Spiker down.
  • When Elites drive UNSC Vehicles e.g. Mongoose, when you are looking at the front of the Mongoose, the Elites head will turn instantly unlike the Spartans head.

Last but not least (This is what rarely anyone has noticed).
- When you have a chestplate on:
In the gameplay with the robotic arm, when you lunge so that you can see your shoulder, that’s not the shoulder piece that you have put on for your Spartan because it’d be the first Shoulder Piece in the Armory.
In the gameplay without the robotic arm, when you lunge so that you can see your shoulder, theres’ no shoulder piece at all.The problem with this is: You cannot see your own shoulder piece that you have for your Spartan from the Armory.

I know this is too much, but I gaurantee you that this will make a huge difference to Reach! I hope these reccomendations really do help you a lot 343! If anyone has concerns or would like to answer any questions, do feel free to send me a message or quote me if you like to do so.

I hope this really helped and I thank you all and 343i for your time reading all of this!

Rob.

(I tried to post all of this at once but it contained “15,184 characters” lol.)

  1. 1-50
  2. Bloom removal/tweak so it’s actually consistent
  3. 1-50
  4. Bloom removal/tweak so it’s actually consistent
  5. 1-50

Oh and I forgot: Spartans and Elites should be able to pick up 4 Plasma Grenades and 4 Frag Grenades as the maximum rather than just 2 (Custom games settings enabled).

On Custom Games settings, when you create a custom setting for your custom game so that your characters can run fast and jump high, if they start off with Gravity Hammers or if someone finds one, they should be able to fly like you could do on Halo 3.

  1. Armor Lock nerf
  2. Add VIP
  3. Nerf grenade damage a little bit
  4. Fix bloom for DMR (Not a lot though)
  5. Add Elite Slayer/Objective playlists.
  1. Fix Bloom AND add a toggle. Doing both would allow two nice styles of competitive play (though obviously one would be used for competitive settings)

  2. Allow bleed through like in halo 3. Beating down at half-shield is relatively cheap, but double beatdown at near-no-shield is even more cheap.

  3. Add some sort of numbered ranking system. Whether it is flawed or not, it is better than no ranking system (and reach’s inaccurate rating system). Players will cheat and make new accounts, but there are others who can enjoy playing legitimately. This provides much more incentive than limited double jackpots.

  4. Implement additional postgame stats that can further accurately prove how well a player did in a game. For example, Halo 2 had a bullets hit / bullets fired ratio + # of headshots, which was great for sniper games. Then I’m pretty sure Shadowrun showed how much “Damage” you did (3.6=enough damage to kill 3.6 people). And also, I’m not entirely sure, but Gears of War 2 had a decent “points” system. Some kind of stats along those lines, but I would most like the SR one.

Reach’s rating system just isn’t good enough.

  1. This is filler, but please re-implement Party-Theater. Lots of people watched clips in parties.
  1. Ability to toggle bloom on/off in settings. For the Halo Classic matchmaking settings, this bloom setting should be checked off just as it was in older Halo games.

This is, by far, the most important part of the update. I cannot stress this enough. “Fixing” bloom would help Halo Reach, but what the fans REALLY want for CE multiplayer and Reach in general is the ability to toggle it off completely. Again, I cannot stress this enough.

2A. Ability to toggle the “no bleed” melee functionality on/off in settings. For the Halo Classic matchmaking settings, melees should be able to bleed through shields because that’s how it was in Halo CE. I can clarify if you don’t know what this is, but basically right now a melee will not do damage to the person’s health if he has ANY amount of shields left… even if only 1% left. That’s what I mean by “No bleed”, it needs to be disabled for the Classic settings.

2B: Customization of spartan movement acceleration. Right now, we can tweak speed, but it is useless because anything past 120% is slippery. If we have the ability to tweak acceleration, we can get movement exactly how we want it to be, which is what I think was intended with the speed customization in the first place.

  1. Grenade physics to mimic Halo 1. In Halo 1, grenades could blow up weapons and power-ups, propelling them in directions. This became a very fun part of Halo CE, as you could grenade weapons and power-ups to yourself if you were really good.

  2. Damage customization per weapon rather than only having damage customization apply to ALL weapons.

  3. Ability to customize the traits of AA’s. For sprint and evade, we should be able to control how fast you move while sprinting/evading, how far you travel per evade, and how long you can sprint before your AA charge runs out. A simple slider in game options would do the trick. For Armor Lock, we should be able to customize how long you can be in Armor Lock before you run out of AA charge. Same with Jet Pack.

  4. Fall physics: a toggle between “Regular” and “Classic”. Regular would be the same as Reach currently. Classic would be different in two ways:

a. You don’t slow down when you hit the ground after a long drop. It will take away health and possibly kill you just as in Halo CE, but it won’t cause you to slow down for 5 seconds.

b. If you crouch right before you hit the ground, no fall damage is taken.

  1. Bring back CLAN FUNCTIONALITY as it was in Halo 2 XBL with both Minor and Major clan matches. Please?!?!?!? This was THE MOST fun I’ve ever had in Halo online play. Ever.

Speaking of this, there REALLY needs to be a visible leveling system in not only this CLAN matchmaking system, but also in the non-social matchmaking types.

  1. The ability for a user to toggle on/off back-melee animations. It’s too easy to accidently do it even if we don’t want to, which can potentially lose a team the game

  1. costomization of forge skins

  2. Theater party system

  3. Matchmaking party tweak- TO4 only match against TO4.

  1. Bloom toggle option
  2. allow 4 people to watch the same theater
  3. Halo 3’s amazing ranking system brought back
  4. Weaker nades
  5. nerf armor lock as much as possible.

Five Things to Change*

  1. people quitting games

  2. armor lock nerfed/removed, grenades stronger

  3. able to kick betrayal’s after first one

  4. find new player’s after someone betrays or quits for match in session

  5. more strict rules for quitters 15 mins. how about a hour and de-rank

1, (Armor lock) get rid of that.Or at least only keep in objective game types.

2, (Ranking system) Change this because it’s lame you can only level up so much in a day…

3, (Betrayal) I Don’t like getting booted from game when it’s a complete accident. I can understand when it is intentional because ppl don’t want to quit the game…

4, (Bloom) Toggle on or off

5, ( People quitting ) I hate having a team where everyone quits.

  1. Bloom toggle On/Off
  2. 1 - 50 or 1 - 100 ranking system like Halo 2.
  3. Bleed - Through On/Off Toggle.
  4. Theater to allow 4 viewers.
  5. Individual Weapon trait slider.
  1. Fix Forge Edit coordinates and the random rotation reset glitch,

  2. Remove out of bounds around the waterfall on forgeworld,

  3. Create Colliding particles for water interacting with forge objects, i.e waves splashing against objects in contact with the water and if a object is in the waterfall it has a splash effect.

  4. Reduce vehicle damage to the sniper rifle.

  5. Add hard kill zones to all infection maps! Especially swordbases “new legde”

  1. Make Bloom a custom game option (please). That way everyone wins. If not that then just fix it.
  2. Nerf Armor Lock
  3. Add Ranked games
  4. Add more custom game options
  5. Add voting on the forums for what custom maps get included in things like Team Slayer and others.
  1. Do something about the Banshee. It’s fun to feel invincible by flipping around all over the place, but at the same time, it’s also incredibly annoying when it’s being done to you. Either link the tricks to the boost meter, or have a longer cooldown between tricks.

  2. Fix the AAs, since Armor Lock isn’t the only imbalanced one. As it is now, nearly all the AAs are annoying to deal with (except for Hologram, which could arguably use some buffs, and Sprint).

  3. Fix the melee system. Either let melees bleedthrough to health, or make it 3 melees to kill, not 2.

  4. Fix/remove bloom on precision weapons. Make it so that DMR spammers never win against pacers. Give the Magnum less punishing bloom and more increase magazine size to 10-12. The Nerfle’s pretty good as it is, the bloom punishes spammers, but is at an obvious disadvantage with the DMR, maybe make it 6sk?

  5. Make Covenant weapons useful again. Give stun to the Plasma Rifle/Repeater. Buff up the damage on the Focus Rifle. Give the Plasma Launcher have better tracking.

Also, fix the Forge World glitch with the Gauss Hog, and adjust damage on the Gauss Hog so that we can finally see it in MM.

343, please don’t forget firefight in the tile update! I hope this post isn’t too far down in the mix to be missed, as there are still many Reach firefighters who would greatly appreciate an update to the firefight matchmaking playlist(s)! I suppose I am a die-hard ODST fan, as you may be able to tell from my suggestions below, but many of us are still looking for a firefight experience which harkens back to the endless hours of fun in ODST firefight. Please consider them in the title update! Sorry for the long post.

(1) Firefight Legacy
An introduction of a firefight playlist that closely mirrors ODST firefight. This would likely replace the current “Firefight Limited” playlist. Many have suggested playlist names such as “Firefight Survival” or “Firefight Unlimited.” I personally prefer “Firefight Legacy.”

Many of these changes would only be possible through a title update (rather than a simple playlist update), so I hope they are considered in the title update. The Firefight Legacy playlist would hopefully include the following elements:

(a) Unlimited waves. Part of the fun of ODST firefight was that it was just you and your team holding out against the Covenant to see how long you could last. This would also make some previously un-attainable medals theoretically possible (inconceivable, unfriggenbelievable). Concerns may arise as to how to end the game - hopefully the increase in difficulty through the skull progression below would make the games challenging enough to eventually end, but not too challenging to not enjoy the game - see topic below.

(b) Limited lives. Just as in ODST (and as in the current Firefight Limited playlist), lives would be limited and shared in a pool for the team to use. The lives cap should be set somewhere around 40. Recall lives are added after each round, and after a bonus round (end of each set).

(c) Skull progression throughout waves / sets. ODST firefight was challenging due in part to the increasing difficulty after every round. Currently, this element is somewhat lacking in Reach. As firefight only lasts a maximum of one set, the challenge never significantly increases. Additionally, even in custom games there is no option to add skulls by set. This would have to be added through the title update. At a minimum, please re-create the skull progression from ODST:

  • tough luck (always on)
  • catch (rounds 2 and 3)
  • black eye (round 3)
  • tilt (set 2 and thereafter)
  • famine (set 3 and thereafter)
  • mythic (set 4 and thereafter)

To address concerns that there may not be an effective mechanism for the game to end, 343 might consider adding other items to be introduced starting in set 5 or later to keep increasing the difficulty. Some suggestions could include:

  • turn on the additional skulls (thunderstorm, cloud)
  • swap wave enemy groups with more challenging enemies (e.g., brute kill team, elite kill team, etc.)
  • introduce elite spec. ops. (elites with active camo) into the mix. This would also bring back the challenge of the spec. ops. brutes who were much feared in ODST firefight!
  • introduce heretic elite waves into the mix
  • increase frequency / volume of hunters. Hunters with all skulls on are very tough to kill

(d) Create a means to have limited ammo. This would give meaning to the famine skull and would increase the difficulty / challenge of the game. In ODST, the ammo boxes had 4 SMGs and 4 pistols to last the team a full round. In Reach, the game settings only allow for unlimited ammo boxes, or no ammo boxes at all. Hopefully through a title update, limited ammo boxes could be added to firefight. They already exist throughout the campaign - see examples below:

Example 1
Example 2
Example 3

(2) More Vehicles in Firefight
Hopefully to be added concurrently with the above, but regardless, please add more vehicles to firefight! Many vehicles aren’t even accessible in firefight, even through custom game settings, such as the revenant. Hopefully these could be added in the title update. Examples could include:

  • Add revenant drops from the phantoms
  • Allow for banshees to be jack-able and add to more maps
  • Allow for warthog spawns other than the rocket hog. Please add the machine gun or gauss hog!
  • Perhaps a UNSC vehicle drop could be added upon the completion of a round or set - a falcon or maybe even a scorpion! This may also need to include a corresponding increase in enemy difficulty (i.e., for a scorpion, add more enemies with heavy weapons, for a falcon, add more enemies with long-range / sniping weapons).

(3) Firefight Versus
Add the firefight versus playlist back into the playlist options.

(4) ODST Firefight Maps
Although we are eagerly awaiting the addition of the new firefight map to be released with Halo: CEA, future DLC such as lost platoon from ODST would be amazing!

(5) Improve Firefight Net-coding
I listed this one last as it may be hardest to implement, but if there is any way to to reduce the firefight lag, please include in the title update!

Thank you 343 for finally giving us a title update. Please do not forget about firefight!

  1. ranking system

  2. more color to forge objects

  3. option to tweak damage of individual weapons and toggle bloom in custom settings

  4. fix melees

  5. nerf/remove armor lock

  1. bloom toggle
  2. H2 ranking system
  3. individual weapon modifier
  4. movement speed like h2/h3
  5. jump height like h2/h3

and an extra

  1. redone hit box… its way too easy to get head shots with the sniper… maybe even easier than h2
  1. Make an option to turn bloom on/off.

  2. A ranking system. In my opinion a ranking system would do so much to help this game. People quitting out of the MLG playlist( or any playlist for that matter) is a huge problem, having a ranking system instead of a completely pointless 10 minute matchmaking ban would cause less people to quit because they dont want to lose their rank. another huge problem is getting teammates that aren’t anywhere near your skill level. Having a ranking system would make so many more people want to play this game on a regular basis because everyone would go back to gaming hard to get a 50 like in H3.

  3. The ability to watch theater with other players.

Dont have a 4th and 5th but the 3 I stated would guarantee more people to play and enjoy this game. Because it really does have potential to be an amazing game, and you guys can make it that

Thanks

  1. Bloom Option (On/Off) - Let’s face it, the bloom is broken. It’s random and spammers should not be rewarded. It’s usually a toss-up of who is going to win a 1v1 battle. I can’t tell you how many times I see people one shot who spam and get away with a 5 shot. If there was only one thing that could be changed, I feel like bloom would be at the top of the list. I think there should be an option in custom games to turn it on and off.

  2. Individual Weapon Damage Modifiers- I think every weapon should have the option to turn up or down it’s damage. The options now are broken. If you turn up damage, it breaks weapons like the sniper and the rockets. The sniper becomes a one shot kill and rockets become overly powerful. This would not only allow for the creation of some fun gametypes but also it would help out the competitive community as well.

  3. Melee System (Halo 3) - The melee system needs tweaking. I would like to see something similar to Halo 3. You shouldn’t be able to run up on someone half shields and win a beat down contest. It makes the game suffer greatly.

  4. Grenades - Grenades need to be reduced in damage. They are like mini “nukes.” They also feel heavy. They don’t bounce like they should. Damage and physics need to be changed.

  5. Ranking System (1-50) - The Arena does not do a good job of showcasing skill. There needs to be a skill ranking system similar to Halo 3, in that there is a number scale of 1-50, but it should be hard to move up a skill level, similar to Halo 2.

I really hope 343i pays attention to this thread. Not only will this make Reach a better game, but it will also make the casual players happy and the competitive community.
