Fix the horrific bloom. It doesn’t work and everyone knows this.
Remove Sword Block, make Sword draw-time out of Sprint longer to compensate for its removal. Sword Block’s only purpose is to make Sword/Sprint tolerable, so how about you just fix the problem directly instead of ruining the Sword for people who aren’t Sprinting.
Grenades. Give me options, please. Physics as well as damage.
Armor Lock is an abomination. If it’s not going to be taken out completely, at least fix it (even though it will be illogical no matter what you do to it.)
Faster kill times among all non power weapons in the 1-1.5 second range, similar to CE/H2. This will speed the game pace up while balancing power weapons, grenades, AAs, and melee with starting weapons. Additionally, the game would revolve less around stealing kills and more around individual skill, especially in FFA.
Allow for truly classic gameplay in the CEA playlists. Quick kill times like the original with a dominant no bloom pistol. Also high movement speed and jump height. Some sort of modded gametype would be ideal.
Fix bloom. Personally I would like it removed but tweaking it to have a faster expansion/detraction rate with a larger max bloom would also work.
That’s about it. Of course AL and vehicles need re-balancing, and I didn’t include individual weapon modifiers because I’m not even sure if they’d be able to do that. I’m just hoping for that in H4.
It would be nice to have more option for phases in invasion like:
VIP Attack (someone in the defending team is the VIP and the offensive team has to kill him to get to the next phase/win),
VIP defense (30 sec-4 minutes) (Someone in the offensive team is the VIP and he has to survive for an ammount of time (30 sec to 4 minutes)
VIP Escort: The offensive team has to escort their VIP to a specific point on the map(If the VIP dies someone else becomes the VIP.
Slayer (10 to 50 kill): The offensive team has to kill players of the defensive team 25 time to access the next phase),
Generator: offensive team has to destroy a generator (like in the Beta but with only 1 generator),
Oddball (1 sec- 4 minutes) : (maybe re-shape it so it looks like something else than a skull, like the core except of a flag) Keep the oddball for an amount of time.
1. Bloom: I can’t stress this enough, everyone and there dogs want this removed. Except for maybe a few but you can’t please everyone so just please the biggest group. 2. Ranking System: This feature makes the game more enjoyable to play. Also it gives players who are very good to have a chance to play with and against other players with the same skill level. 3. Melee System: I would to see the Halo 3 system for beat downs come back. It’s just a no-brainer. 4. Armor Abilities as Pick-Ups: Making it so people can’t start with the armor ability and rather putting it somewhere on the map. It brings back the Halo multiplayer motive to control the map. 5. Gernades: It seems appearent that the so called gernades are now nukes. If 343i can nerf them a little and make them more bouncy with a little increase for the fuse, then we are in business.
These five changes are crutial,in my opinion and many others, to making Halo: Reach the game we all thought it would be. Make us proud 343i and make the Title Update worth it.
1.Reduce power and radius of grenades as well as making them bounce more and have a longer fuse.
2.Change Armor Lock so if used for longer than two seconds, your shields start to drain. Also, your shields will never recharge in AL, and it no longer does EMP damage. It is meant to be used as a one-off defensive ability, not a ‘stand by a wait for 6 seconds’ ability. Make Active Camo AA only last half as long.
3.Increase all vehicle health, make the DMR do less damage to vehicles and the NR do slightly more.
4.Change the melee system back to the H3 version.
5.Nerf the power of the Banshee’s FRC to only being an instant kill if it gets a direct hit, the Scorpion and Wraith against other vehicles, (they should not be able to one shot kill anything except for the Mongoose.
I believe that we never TRULY get what we want, for example if they change the AA’s, they’ll still do what ever the heck THEY want to do to it. So with that being said, here is my vague top 5.

My roommate and I take our “glaucoma” medicine and play Halo doubles together all the time, always have (H2, H3, kinda in Reach…it just sucked too bad.) And we easily think of these simple fixes to the game. We came up with these 3 exact ideas very soon after the launch of Halo Reach…Why Bungie didn’t think of these themselves, or if they did, why they didn’t use the ideas. I have noooo idea.

I really really really hope they take your last sentence to heart, it would make sense to not have bloom since Chief is back, as well as AA’s because where would they come from?!
Reach fell for a reason, their crap didn’t work. That’s why Chief(CE,2,3) is such a beast, his weapons and movement areactually awesome.
Nerf armor lock - change the EMP blast to a knockback effect OR disable melee for a short period of time (e.g. 1.5 secs)
Fix/improve vehicles - stop DMR fire from throwing warthogs, fix passenger revenant shooting glitch and MOST IMPORTANTLY, use part of the “boost” meter to do rolls and flips in the banshee to stop people spamming it
Add bleed-through back into the melee system - it makes no sense (if other weapons/equipment has a bleed through effect, why doesn’t meleeing), it slows the pace of the game and it removes an entire skill aspect from the game
Add more armor perms and maybe color options
Fix bloom to make sure that spamming never trumps controlled and accurate fire at medium to long distances. Keep it realistic at short range but still needs modification.
Fix bloom on the Dmr and needle rifle so that spamming will be so random that it will be impossible to win a dmr battle unless you pace.
Severely nerf the Dmr’s damage against vehicles. A weapon like the Dmr shouldn’t NOT be able to blow up a tank or even do significant damage to a warthog.
Buff the warthogs armour slightly so that it becomes a formidable weapon.
Tweak the melee system so that its impossible to double melee by increasing the time it takes to recover from a melee or bring back halo 3’s melee system.
- For active camo to look the same in your first person view as it does to others. As of now if you looks 50% invisuble, you are actually like 80% invisble to everybody else. Just use active camo, move around a little, and view it in theatre while swithcing from 1st person and 3rd, and you’ll see a huge difference. Making it so it stops flickering in 1st person would be nice too.
I’d also like to see the secondary emblem “four diamonds” to go back to how it was in 3, in reach it’s just a duplicate of “4 plots”. It’s annoying to see an emblem removed, more so when it’s just replaced with a emblem already present in game.
Can we please get purple and green, not red and blue for invasion? I know we can’t have indivual shades of purple and green, or make it so spartans are always green and elites purple, but just make it so the forced color is changed to those two.
- Change arena. Personally, I think you should just apply arena type ranking to every playlist, and then people can look at their preformance without having to go play a certain playlist or gametype.
-Don’t touch bloom. Every halo game has had it, this is the first time it’s directly visible, like how we have had healthin every halo game, it’s just not not always been shown on the HUD
1 Nerf Grenades, assault rifle, and Rockets
2 Bring back Beta Pistol, beta focus rifle, plasma launcher (buff them all)
3 On/Off Toggle for bloom (or just get rid of it all together)
4 BUFF WARTHOG. Fix physics.
5 Nerf banshee a lot. No flips (or a cooldown time for flips), nerf banshee bomb damage and radius. the thing is ridiculous
6. Take out sword block and no instant sword kill during sprinting (cooldown like shotgun)
FIX FIREFIGHT NETCODE. The input lag is unbearable.
