Your "Top 5" for the Title Update

A lot of these have been mentioned a million times already. I’ll make it a million and one times to further help get the point across.

  1. No bloom - It wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t get beat by spammers, but you do. Even if you fixed that problem, no bloom is the better option, as it speeds up the game play.

  2. Bring back bleed through damage - Again, speeds up the game; and a few bullets plus two melees should never be equal to two melees. That’s just stupid.

  3. Active Camo - Get rid of it. Make it a pick-up item on the maps the way it used to be. It’s not that AC can’t be countered; it’s that it’s, once again, something that makes the game horribly slow paced and boring when more than one person on each team is using it.

  4. Armor Lock - Goodbye. OK, that’s not likely to happen, but for the love of the Halo gods, nerf it. You should not be able to go into armor lock two consecutive times in a row, nor should you be able to look around while locked. Cut the time spent in AL in half and make it so, if you’re facing a certain direction, that’s the only area you can observe.

I will say this about AL. Reach does need it. If not for AL, grenades, swords, rockets, hammers and shotguns will make many playlist in this game incredibly frustrating to play. It is a good counter to those things. Just nerf it, although I’d like to see it gone (and all armor abilities) for Halo 4.

  1. Make the Banshee like is was in Halo 2. We don’t need a flying tank. Enough said.

Almost everything I’ve mention have been things to speed up the game. Bring back the recurring 20 - 30 seconds of non-stop fun that the older Halo games used to have. The way Reach is right now it feels more like a recurring two to three minutes of non-stop action, and that is not a good thing.

  1. completely remove armor lock from every single playlist ever.
  2. fix bloom so it punishes spammers all the time.
  3. in custom games make bloom optional.
  4. take away fall damage and movement stall when dropping from a large height. (i don’t care if it isn’t canon
    , its multiplayer)
  5. make melee damage bleed through. the melee system how it is now is horrible and promotes beatdown rather than shooting first.
  1. Take out Sword Block
  2. Make the “window” for both players dying smaller. People kill eachother at the same time way too much.
  3. Make Frags bounce like Halo 3, and be a tiny bit less powerful.
  4. Nerf armour lock and make active camo a pickup like Halo 3.
  5. Make Invasion Colours Green for Spartan and Purple for Elites like the Beta. (It felt unique like that)

Please!

4,5- Whatever the hell 343 wants to do.

1)Don’t remove, but nerf armour lock so it’s shorter and has no emp blast

2)More maps in infection

3)Bring back forge items from halo 3

4)Don’t allow sniper to destroy a vehicle but make it so that the vehicle driver sticks out in some way so you can snipe him out

Thats all, but I would like more forgeable maps and a sandtrap re-make

  4. Increase effectiveness of vehicles. Vehicles are terribly underpowered due to the sheer amount of different easy ways of taking it down (plasma pistol, sniper rifle, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, grenades, armor lock, hijacking.) Riding in a vehicle is a death sentence.

  5. Remove the ability to scope in with any weapons while using Cloak. (Explain it by saying too much power is used to cloak so makes the helmet unable to scope.)

  1. Remove Armor Lock

  4. Make Infection Playlist Use Maps That Are Actually Meant For Infection

My big 5.

1.) Bloom toggle On/Off

2.) Fix the staggering amount of frame-rate drops. (It’s sad that Halo 3 was better on this front)

3.) Bring back bleed-through damage.

4.) Party theatre. I had many hours of fun in H3 with this. Bring it back pweeeeeeeeeaaase!

5.) Make grenades a tiny bit bouncier (More like CE’s) and lower the damage so you have to have less than 10-20% to die by one grenade.

Something that I want, but can live without:

Less kill trades! Many times I’ve killed a guy, only for him to kill me after his body has gone limp (I’ve done it a lot myself, even beating someone down after they shotgun me, which is ridiculous from a gameplay standpoint).

  1. Toggle bloom on/off OR fix bloom and actually make it do the intended job. Spamming should not have even a 5% chance of success. Period. Also, despite which option is chosen, the rate of fire should be increased a smidgen.
  2. Bleed through damage
  3. Individual weapon traits
  4. Tweak grenades a bit. Halo 2 was IMO the most balanced.
  5. Increase responsiveness in strafing a bit more. Again, reference Halo 2. It was quick; responsive. Reach still feels like you ice skate too much.

Yes I play competitively. :slight_smile: Halo 1 and Halo 2 were the best competitive halo games, but they were also the most appealing to the casual player. We can all win here.

1.) Bloom gone. Toggle on/off might work if you had a ton of playlists with it off, but I’m pretty sure you’ll gain far more people playing the game if you just turn it off entirely. Everyone I know personally has quit because of bloom, and just making it so that custom games can have it toggled on would be nice but realistically there needs to be supporting playlists to back this up so that people can actually play without having to LAN or run customs without bloom. I’m not going to complain if the toggle is all we get, but there’s so much that 343 could do better with this.

2.) Forge World framerate issues need to be fixed. How annoying is it to be able to create maps but inexplicably have them lag because of set pieces glitching, or the environment? There’s a ton of people who’ve spent a ton of time making maps creatively only to have them ‘not be good enough’ because of the framerate issues which are actually surprisingly simple to fix. Rendering an entire map when only 1/4th of it is actually going to be played on = the problem. I don’t care how much Bungie stated that the ‘graphic rendering outside of a certain radius’ would be minimal and not effect framerate, I’ve done extensive testing and as have many other forgers. Where you place your map can lag the map simply due to the fact that it isn’t as minimal as Bungie would like.

3.) Melee system: Toggle bleed over melee, or if 343 wants to be super try-hard add an individual damage slider for melee, and each individual weapon with bleed over as an option. Not holding my breath on the weapon slider, but hey it’s pretty easy to add bleed over since it’s already designed in the game given that bomb/flag melee = bleeds through shields.

4.) Ranking system: So many people have complained hard about the rankings, and I understand the COD-style rankings of time played = rank is attractive but there needs to be a playlist where you can be competitive. No, the Arena is not it. Bungie botched the formula for arena so bad that even with double credits I hardly see the playlist ever reach very high. They’ve managed to fix some of the formula, but some of it is still non-sense. 1-50 is an easy ranking system because it’s a visual number for you to look at. Do I want the trueskill system back? I think there could be some modifications to it because you shouldn’t be locked out of hitting 50 just because you’ve played a certain number of games. Needs to be more forgiving to go up the ranks, and if you lose easier to actually lose the rank too to compensate.

5.) Grenades cause a slight knock-up, deafen the player, and have been known to have a flash-bang like effect in addition to being ridiculously easy to throw, and ridiculously powerful. I’m not saying nerf nades entirely, but all those things together lead spamming of nades rather than using them tacticially.

1) 1 - 50 ranking syste****m: Add the 1-50 back. Every hardcore player from Halo that got a high rank like a 50 or 40 in Halo knows that in Halo Reach the matchmaking system has no balance on who you place against or with. Plus the 1-50 system lets each player have something to go for. We all know Arena blows due to it’s population to other playlist…the ranked community left in Halo 3 is bigger…that’s not good, not at all. Social playlist can still exist as well but please just give the hardcore gamers a more balanced ranking system. Also, something like a cR per playlist wouldn’t hurt either… for example, in Halo 3 players could get a general in each playlist by getting 500 exp. Why not have something like this in reach, for example 8,000,000 cR per playlist = inheritor.

2**)** Bloom toggle: Weapon bloom needs a on/off option. Spamming works more than it doesn’t…shouldn’t be that way.

3) Fix theater: Make theater have at least a max party of four. One player just isn’t as fun when it comes down to showing your friends how sick that no-scope you just got was if they all have to download it just to see it.

4) Bleed thru: Here is a example of this…Player A shoots Player B 3 times with the Dmr. They both melee each other twice resulting in a neutral (both players kill each other). We all know Player A should of won that fight…It’s like those 3 shots didn’t even exist. Halo 3 had it right.

5**)** Nerf nades: I don’t wanna feel like i got nuked every time i get naded. Don’t change the amount of damage they do, just the range.

Most of this was posted by Violunce on another forum. I changed a few things that i though needed changed.

My top 5:

1). Modify bloom, preferably add bloom on/off option for custom games.
2). Add bleed through back.
3). Make it so you can have more than 1 person in Theater.
4). Fix non-arena playlist rankings or add a better ranking system.
5). If possible, individual weapon modifiers in custom games would be very nice.

  1. Get rid of the bloom (or at the very least give a toggle option).

  2. Adjust the weapon damages. Ex: Increase DMR damage, decrease Frag Grenade damage, etc. (or at the very least give us individual weapon/grenade modifiers).

  3. Bring back a momentum-based melee system (Halo: CE, Halo 2), which as a result would also remove the no bleed-through.

  4. Bring back Halo 3’s Theater (full party can watch films together) and ideally improve upon it (can see first-person view of anyone in the film).

  5. Move the reticule to the center of the screen.

Ok, well let me address a couple things people have said. THE AR DOES NOT NEED TO BE STRONGER! Honestly, use the DMR or NR if you want to really kill someone.

ok here are my 5.

  1. Fix Bloom or remove it, but don’t replace it with shot leading.
  2. Fix the Screen lag that occurs in forge map, I’m an MLG Forger and the Screen Lag, framerate drop, destroys maps. It take about 15-20 different pieces and makes them taboo to use. It also makes many of the maps that people make unplayable in split screen.
  3. Armor lock shouldn’t even exist
  4. Bring back a ranking system
  5. Beat downs should be fixed, and grenades should be made less powerful. They allow people to just throw grenades and destroy everyone.

They should implement a Halo 2 style ranking system but to alleviate the “new accounts” problem have it so that a player must have at least 100 games played in social playlists to unlock the ranked playlists. This would eliminate (for the most part) people making new accounts to boost the ranking system.

As for the “de-ranking” problem, make it so that your rank will never be able to go lower than 5 levels below your highest rank in that playlist. So if people were going to de-rank they would either get banned for quitting a lot, recording a lot of suicides a game, and also never be able to de-rank lower than 5 below their highest rank.

I think that’s a great idea, what do you guys think?

This update has the potential to make Reach the greatest Halo game thus far. Thank you for recognizing your fans and inquiring about what we, the fans, actually want.

  1. Ability to toggle bloom on/off in settings. For the Halo Classic matchmaking settings, this bloom setting should be checked off just as it was in older Halo games.

This is, by far, the most important part of the update. I cannot stress this enough. “Fixing” bloom would help Halo Reach, but what the fans REALLY want for CE multiplayer and Reach in general is the ability to toggle it off completely. Again, I cannot stress this enough.

2A. Ability to toggle the “no bleed” melee functionality on/off in settings. For the Halo Classic matchmaking settings, melees should be able to bleed through shields because that’s how it was in Halo CE. I can clarify if you don’t know what this is, but basically right now a melee will not do damage to the person’s health if he has ANY amount of shields left… even if only 1% left. That’s what I mean by “No bleed”, it needs to be disabled for the Classic settings.

2B: Customization of spartan movement acceleration. Right now, we can tweak speed, but it is useless because anything past 120% is slippery. If we have the ability to tweak acceleration, we can get movement exactly how we want it to be, which is what I think was intended with the speed customization in the first place.

  1. Grenade physics to mimic Halo 1. In Halo 1, grenades could blow up weapons and power-ups, propelling them in directions. This became a very fun part of Halo CE, as you could grenade weapons and power-ups to yourself if you were really good.

  2. Damage customization per weapon rather than only having damage customization apply to ALL weapons.

  3. Ability to customize the traits of AA’s. For sprint and evade, we should be able to control how fast you move while sprinting/evading, how far you travel per evade, and how long you can sprint before your AA charge runs out. A simple slider in game options would do the trick. For Armor Lock, we should be able to customize how long you can be in Armor Lock before you run out of AA charge. Same with Jet Pack.

  4. Fall physics: a toggle between “Regular” and “Classic”. Regular would be the same as Reach currently. Classic would be different in two ways:

a. You don’t slow down when you hit the ground after a long drop. It will take away health and possibly kill you just as in Halo CE, but it won’t cause you to slow down for 5 seconds.

b. If you crouch right before you hit the ground, no fall damage is taken.

  1. Bring back CLAN FUNCTIONALITY as it was in Halo 2 XBL with both Minor and Major clan matches. Please?!?!?!? This was THE MOST fun I’ve ever had in Halo online play. Ever.

Speaking of this, there REALLY needs to be a visible leveling system in not only this CLAN matchmaking system, but also in the non-social matchmaking types.

  1. The ability for a user to toggle on/off back-melee animations. It’s too easy to accidently do it even if we don’t want to, which can potentially lose a team the game.

2 more armor pieces
3 armor pieces for elites
4 new forge pieces plus the scenery pieces available on other maps available on forge world
5 more visor colors red, blue, green or atleast clearer emblems on armor

1.) Remove bloom/provide toggle bloom option.

2.) Make the DMR have the option to be a 3-round burst weapon–3 bursts to the body and 1 to the head is a kill. Yes, I’m simply asking for the option to have the BR for a true classic experience.

3.) 1-50 ranking playlists

4.) Melee system needs to be like it was in halo 3–bleed through effect.

5.) Frag grenades need to have less blast radius. They also currently try to “stick” to your armor like a plasma grenade. Lessen this attraction.
