Well, I would just like to say I have been with Halo since Combat Evolved, and i’m happy that 343i is taking the word directly from the community on what would make the game experience more enjoyable. My first three are what i would like to see changed, and my last two are what I would like added.

  1. Armor Lock toned down a bit. Not completely nerfed, just some small cut-backs.

  2. The melee system changed back to the Halo 3 system. If I melee someone with a fraction of their shield left, and someone with full shield, it should not do the same amount of damage.

  3. Bloom toggle

  4. If it’s posssible in a title update, more armor additions.

Thats really all I want to see in an update.

  1. A new ranking system. My brother and I were playing Bungie Day yesterday, and we were rolling through people left and right, including this game (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/GameStats.aspx?gameid=690438249&player=a%20grilledcheese), in which our two teammates quit before the game started. Better matchups, and going back to a strong ranking system gives extra motivation. Some people can have fun playing Social Slayer, but I really like seeing a tangible result of my play.

  2. With Armor Lock, make it a 5 second duration, but as soon as you tap LB, you are locked in for the whole thing and you cannot get out. This means guys can’t tap it right as you melee them, then come out after .5 seconds and hit you back.

  3. Make grenades slightly less powerful. Someone suggested longer fuses, but I want to be rewarded for placing my grenade right at the guy’s feet. Just make the explosion not as strong.

  1. The return of dual weilding. I want an option to enable or disable dual weilding on specific weapons. In the custom game option I could choose to dual weild light weapons, heavy weapons, or all weapons. How awesome would it be to have dual rockets? Or swords?

  2. Don’t want to sound like a broken record, but nerf armour lock. Perhaps make it so that a plasma pistol charge can “unlock” the armour. Or make it so that you have to charge your armour lock, before you use it.

  3. An option to disable fall damage.

  4. An option to turn off banshee bombs.

  5. A golden Magnum unlockable. You buy it for like 2 million credits, and when you spawn with it it’s golden.

I think it’s a fine game as it is. I don’t have a problem with bloom, and I’ve learned to deal with Armour lock. The guass hog can shoot through walls, but I nevered liked the guass hog, so I don’t care if it gets fixed or deleted. I’m excited to see how the TU goes, good luck 343.

  3. Sandbox is the coolest map ever. it’s bright but can also be dark. But don’t use a teleporter to get to the top. Make it so you can go all the way up there on you own.

  1. Reduce the effectiveness of AL (make it that you can only go into it once per cycle and that stickies are not bounced off it only contained, also make the EMP effect only come into effect after half the cycle has passed )

On the weapon front; make the sniper a little bit less effective against ground vehicles, air is fine, make the pistol 6 shots to take down shields ( will make it more of a sidearm ), make the DMR less effective against vehicles, make the focus rifle more of a threat, bring back the huge knock-back from the grav-hammer against certain vehicles.

  3. Make the view of the spartan in the service record look better, similar to the view of the spartan that you get a soon as you enter the armory ( at the moment the service record just makes all armor look stupid and not “in-game like” ) Also if possible bring back and add new armor ( hayabusa and rouge )

  4. Add the option to add individual colors to each part of the spartan eg. shoulders and knees ( could lead to rainbow spartans but I think it would allow for total customisation of the spartan and it would go perfectly with our huge choice of armor that we have currently )

  5. Adjust certain things with vehicles to make them play better; nerf banshee slighty, make the warthog more solid ( it weighs 3 tons it shouldnt get flipped so easily by DMR fire )

1a) keep bloom, even even lower bullet damage of the rifle when fired in bloom - maybe that will remind them spammers what D.M.R. stands for. spamming a DMR should NEVER let you win against someone with well placed and TIMED shots.
1b) make the AR a true AR by increasing range and lowering it’s rate of fire. it should be an alternative to the DMR, not a smg.

  1. aerial vehicles (falcon, banshee): lower damage taken from all non-powerweapons but increase collision damage A LOT. banshee jockeys that constantly boost into buildings, the ground, whatever, while massacrating the enemy team are not pro, it is ridiculous.

  2. betrayals: i don’t care how you’ll do it, but fix this. people get banned for quitting, but betrayals go unpunished. theses guys ruin the fun for me much more than all afkers and quitters combined.

  3. Armor Lock - one-at-a-time use only. by this i mean ALers won’t be able to breakdance in-and-out of armor lock, spamming grenades, anymore. you activate AL, can use it for the full amount of time or just mere seconds, but then you’ll have to wait for a full recharge before entering it again. AL is a good counter for vehicles, grenades, power weapons - i like it in the game, but it getting abused in gunfights is just #&%@!!

  4. add new campaign.

  1. Faster bloom reset/expansion times (punish spammers more) or an option to toggle bloom
  2. Bleed through melee damage
  3. Ranking system with a #, be it 1-50, 1-100

1> Full weapon options in custom game settings. I’m talking every weapon, grenades, vehicle weapons and turrets. Two options for Banshee would be included (bomb/normal). Add bloom crosshair indicators for Spiker/Plasma Rifle/plasma pistol. Options to include:

  • Weapon damage vs Shields (in actual values, not percentages of current values)

  • Weapon damage vs Health (again, actual)

  • Weapon damage vs Vehicles (actual)

  • Weapon damage shield bleeding (yes/no)

  • Weapon Melee damage (actual, for RB button)

  • Weapon Melee dash damage (For sword/hammer/golf club RT)

  • Weapon Melee dash range (For sword/hammer/golf club RT)

  • Weapon Melee shield bleeding (yes/no)

  • Headshot capable (Yes/no, for all weapons)

  • Headshot bonus damage ( 0 - X, or replace with ‘can headshot through shields Y/N’ if the system works that way )

  • Weapon bloom enabled (yes/no, for all current weapons + Spiker/Plasma Rifle/plasma pistol)

  • Bloom increase per shot ( 0 - X, where X is magnum current maximum? I guess that’s the largest bloom)

  • Bloom decrease per second ( 0 - X, replace ‘per second’ with whatever the appropriate time period is)

  • Explosion radius ( 0 - X, for hammer/appropriate vehicles/grenades/appropriate weapons)

  • Projectile speed ( 0 - X, For non-hitscan weapons )

  • Projectile homing ( 0 - X, for all non-hitscan weapons, similar to current effects plasma weapons)

  • Projectile lock-on (All/None/Air only, for all non-hitscan weapons, like how plasma launcher does

  • Projectile lock-on time ( 0 - X, number of secs to acquire lock, all non-hitscan weapons )

  • Projectile reflection (Yes/no, all weapons, IE like how sniper/needle projectiles bounce off of surfaces at angles)

  • If possible, maybe even projectile type? So I could set the shotgun to fire needles, for example. Or overcharged plasma shots. Or death lasers. Just if that’s possible in the existing code.

This is a pretty nice overall control feature to add, and would sure be great for custom game options. These would stack with the current general percentage based options already in the game. Also:

  • Add options for vehicle health percentages
  • Add options for fall damage enabled/disabled.

2> Rebalance some weapons in standard matchmaking with these options. The covenant set of weapons seems especially underwhelming and excluded from current gameplay, excluding the Melee weapons, Plasma Pistol and needle rifle.

  • Increase plasma repeater/rifle projectile speed and up the damage by 15-20%.
  • Increase plasma pistol/needler projectile speed a little.
  • Up assault rifle damage by about 5-10%.
  • Up plasma launcher projectile speed (match/make it a little faster than rocket launcher).
  • Up focus rifle damage by 5-10% against people, and a lot against vehicles (so it’s actually useful compared to human sniper).
  • Up banshee HP by 5-10%, make rolling consume 25% of boost bar.
  • Lower Melee damage to 70% current value/ enable Melee shield bleeding for all weapons (except sword/hammer/golf club, keep these the same).
  • Adjust DMR bloom rates so they go up/ come down about 10-15% quicker (so better pacing wins more often).
  • Lower DMR/sniper damage against vehicles (5 sniper rounds to down a banshee vs current 4)
  • Up covenant turret projectile speed and damage. Seriously, this thing sucks all round.
  • Reduce banshee bomb explosion radius.
  • Lower grenade damage by 5-10%.
  • Turn the spiker into a close range death machine - Make it the replacement for shotgun in covenant only weapon maps instead of the plasma repeaters. Keep the fire rate/accuracy/projectile speed the same, but up the damage so it fits as a close-range alternate to shotgun. Right now it’s about as powerful as a plasma repeater - increase damage vs shields by 10-20%, and vs HP by 30-40% or so. Will be balanced at range due to its slow projectile speed, poor accuracy and strafing. Integrate it into some existing maps.

3> Rebalance armor abilities.

  • Armor lock. So much to be done. Remove EMP pulse. Remove ‘stagger’ to attackers when they melee an AL’d target. Increase energy consumption by 30% (only lasts 3 sec instead of 5, prevents short multi-lock spamming). Remove plasma grenade shedding, cause AL to prevent damage but knock unit out of AL when stuck plasma goes off. Cause EMP strikes (overcharged plasma, held grenade launcher shot) to knock unit out of AL.
  • Evade - Reduce to 1 charge but lower recharge delay by 50% and increase recharge rate. Fix spartan evade while holding rocket launcher animation, it currently keeps the launcher up over the course of the roll and then lowers/raises it at the end.
  • Cloaking - Decrease total time available in cloak by 25%. Fix it for Elites - currently they move to quick, even when crouch walking, to maintain a full cloak value. Just raise the maximum value for full cloak to just above Elite crouch walking speed.
  • Hologram - Add red crosshair/ caster name above hologram when it’s targeted.

4> Add a new, free, human object based Forge world map. Just make it a multi-level cliff face with a sea edge if you must, but these few maps would be pretty easy to fit together geometrically. Keep the same geometry as current forge world objects, but use human textures.

  • Make the environment landscape so the following Halo 3 maps are premade in it - Ghost town, High Ground, Rats nest, Standoff and Valhalla, plus add a bit more space for those creative types.
  • Also include Guardian, The Pit and Lockout into normal rotation (There are real nice versions out there).
  • Fix infection map rotation in playlists (IE maps designed for it, not just unbalanced ‘Uncaged’ again and again).
  • If possible, make it so you can tint the colour of objects textures as well as changing the colour trim in all forge world maps. This will help the ‘sea of grey’ problem forge world maps have currently (even if some bits would be just green/grey or blue/grey).

5> Custom game payouts. Fix it so you don’t get the ‘time spent’ money you get from matchmaking, but add award/kill money (even if you have to cap it at 100 kills per target per person) would let you make at least some cash from playing custom games.

6 > Add several levels of markers onto playlists to show which ones currently have jackpots. Show if you are able to win jackpot (i.e. haven’t won it already) and a general indication of ‘size’ of payout.

  1. Fix bloom. Remove randomness factor.

  2. Either remove AL or nerf it massively.

  3. Weaken grenades.

  4. Remove Forge World maps or add more Forge Worlds (and replace the maps created on them with those of the original FG). Doesn’t anyone get sick of seeing un-Halo iron struts superimposed upon eye-sickening textures?

  5. This one may seem a bit of a stretch but I request that 343i create original multiplayer maps (which are actually suited to their corresponding gametypes) and replace them with the ones copy-pasted from Campaign.

5 (alternate). Buff the Covenant weapons. They are underpowered and ineffective.

I would love to see the following:

  1. A custom option to remove bloom.
  2. Bleed-through in the melees.
  3. A longer fuse on the grenades or smaller range of effectiveness.
  4. An indication of a person using an overshield/custom power-up such as the flames in the Classic playlist gametypes.
  5. A custom option to increase the damage on the DMR only, so it becomes a 4-shot weapon.

  1. Remove bloom on the precision weapons (DMR, needle rifle, pistol)
  2. Have just a few playlists with all armor abilities (big team battle, invasion and such). Force sprint on all the other playlists (team slayer, team doubles, arena, etc.). If you’re to keep armor abilities, nerf them all but sprint.
  3. Tweak the melee system (easier to hit people, bleed-through damage, make sure a hit to the back = a beatdown and an instant kill)
  4. No sword block
  5. Put the sniper back on Powerhouse instead of the focus rifle

  5. Get rid of the army ranks, maybe if i say it twice you will listen, we can play COD if we want that stuff.
