Your "Top 5" for the Title Update

  1. Give the DMR a much larger, much faster resetting bloom, add a very slight recoil, greatly reduce the auto-aim/aim-assist/magnetism (and make whatever of it is left completely disappear when bloom is in effect), and make it a 3sk/4sk depending on the degree to which it’s ease of use is reduced.

  2. Give the Pistol a much smaller bloom (it should max out close to that of the current DMR’s first shot) and add a substantial amount of compounding recoil (remember the ODST pistol)

  3. Decrease the number of shots to kill for the Needle Rifle by one.

  4. Completely redo the melee system (including the melee weapons): Remove No-bleed, Remove the insane Knockback, Significantly reduce the aim-assist, Make the damage momentum-based, remove any and all clashing mechanic

  5. Subtle balance tweaks: Nerf Grenades, Rockets, Shotgun, Focus Rifle Ammo, Single Shot Plasma Pistol, and Armor Lock - Buff the Plasma Weapons (by adding a headshot stun ideally), the OS (after adding an indicator effect), and the Camo (powerup only) - Reduce the Aim-assist on basically everything

  1. Remove or heavily tweak bloom. An On/Off toggle would be ideal
  2. Allow damage to bleed through shields with all weapons. Again, On/Off toggle is fine
  3. Nerf Rockets + Nades
  4. Make weapons/melees take longer to use while coming out of sprint
  5. Change Armor Lock so that the countdown until your shields recharge freezes while using it. Also force AL users to use the full duration when they use it.
  1. Fix Bloom/Remove it.
  2. Skill Based Ranking System.
  3. Advanced Theater Options. (Such as automatic panning with adjustable speed, and being able to set points for the camera to move around while turning. Reason? I make Machinima.)
  4. Fix melee system.
  5. Add the BR to some playlists, and optional in Forge and Custom Games please!

In general: more options.

If there is any doubt whether people would like to have the option to change a setting, give them that option. Hide it under an “advanced” tab if need be, but the more options the better. What is implemented as default is another important question but that’s more subjective.

1) Bloom
Provide an option to remove it and have bloom off by default. When bloom is off the DMR/NR/Pistol should have locked rates of fire that are slightly longer than the current max RoF.

2) Reduce Latency Window/ Simultaneous Beatdowns/Kills
I’d prefer it if all instances of simultaneous beatdowns and simultaneous were removed or heavily reduced. Both happen far too frequently. If it’s decided that MM latency requires these cushions then I’d love to see at the least a reduction and an option to turn it off in custom games or any of the community playlists (given those controlling that community playlist choose to).

3) Melee
In its current form the total damage done by a melee is wildly variable depending on player’s shield. Allowing the damage done by a melee to go through the shield and do a set amount of damage would make melee combat more consistent. It’s far to easy to “reset” the balance of an engagement by sprinting into a melee and forcing the other person to melee which, regardless of the players’ heath beforehand, as long as they both had shields they’d come out even. There is a delay after a melee intended to reduce double-melees but this delay also affects those attempting to shoot after a melee. After a melee, there should be a longer delay before being able to melee again and a shorter delay before being able to shoot that would encourage CQC to evolve beyond spaming the melee button for double beatdown. Allow someone to be assassinate someone currently assassinating another player (if assassination trains are a concern then don’t allow the animation assassination to occur and limit it the the beatdown assassination). I’d also like to see the range at which someone’s melee will initiate a lung be reduced though this is of least importance.

4) Adjustable Damage
At the very least there should be an option to adjust the power of grenades. By default the grenades should have a smaller radius and do less damage. It would be great to have the ability to adjust the damage of each individual weapon.

5) Player Movement
The speed and gravity settings in MLG and the community Classic playlists are good starting points. The problem is Reach wasn’t designed around these faster movement speeds so “skating” effect is present in that the inertia from these faster speeds inhibits quick changes in movement direction and slower strafing. I’d prefer default settings with 120%-esque speed with no sprint. Sprint speeds up player movement but only in the direction they’re facing and weapons/grenades can’t be used during sprint so sprint plays virtually no role in actual firefights. Speed up the base player speed, reduce inertia and increase jump height to promote the very active and dynamic firefights seen in past Halo games.

Bonus improvements:

  • Enable flag/ball/bomb juggling by default
  • Remove the benefits of crouching to increase accuracy
  • Include option for spartan’s health to regen to 100%
  • Evade AA should be only be able to be used once per full charge
  • Reduce sprint duration
  • Remove or reduce a thrown grenade from being detonated by another grenade or from being shot midair
  • Banshee evade cooldown
  • Slightly increase pistol magazine size or reduce reloading times
  • Reduce splash damage /range of rocket launcher
  • slow down the AR rate of fire while making it slightly more accurate
  • Increase grenade fuse length
  • Greater Cr bonus for winning a match
  • Allow players to quit penalty free after over 50% of their team has quit
  • Reduce range of shotgun
  • Jetpack energy regeneration delay (currently its the only AA that regens immediately)
  • Armor lock and camo duration reduction
  • Camo shouldn’t scramble the opposing team’s radar. Instead the camo’s player should just always be visible on the radar
  • Option to turn off assassination in a player’s controls (prevent accidental animations)
  • Replace Asylum with any other Sanctuary remake
  • Option to turn off grain filter
  • Any options that will make the game run at a faster or more reliable framerate (at the expense of graphical effects)
  • More transparent Arena ranking system (see Starcraft 2’s ladder)
  • Remove movement stun after falling
  • Label invasion hills
  • Make completing a stage in invasion add time to the clock instead of resetting it to award teams that complete an objective quickly
  • Put teammate indicators over everyone on your team in invasion, currently only your pros are visible at a distance
  • Make vehicle combat fun again (read: bring back the chopper)
  • The kill callout UI should be made consistent (either “Teammate X killed Opponent Y” or “Opponent Y killed Teammate X”) so players can instantly know whether their teammate killed someone or got killed because the order of the text like in H3. Reach uses “X was killed by Y” as well as “X killed Y” among other things which requires the player to read it more carefully or happen to be facing in the teammate’s direction instead of instantly knowing the outcome.

Map request:
There should be a forge canvas (like foundry/sandbox/forge world) with minimal baked in geometry and limited in size. Forge World is “impressive” but the nature of its size and the forge objects placed in it oftentimes cripple the framerate stability. A smaller canvas may even allow for an extension in the max number of certain objects like light orbs which are essential in the aesthetics of maps. This minimalistic canvas could use the same exact object palette to heavily reduce the amount of resources required from 343/CA. Hopefully it could be a small, free download allowing it to be required for the majority of the playlists.

  1. Bloom should not be removed, but it should perhaps be tweaked so that its less annoying to lose to a spammer.

  2. ‘Sniper rifle’ blowing up vehicles is right and proper, every other halo game other than reach had it wrong…it is not a sniper rifle, it is called an anti-materiel rifle which is specifically designed to wreck vehicles and munitions and sometimes aircraft, not people, click this. Does it look familiar? Sure does to me.

  3. Armour lock probably needs a penalty for extended usage, such as if you are in lock for more than half the full duration (3.5 seconds), you will eventually send out a HUGE buffed emp pulse (bigger than currently), but at the cost of your own life regardless of your health status as your armour burns out, hopefully leaving your teammates to finish off what you sacrificed yourself to soften up.

  4. DAT BANSHEE. Actually its almost perfect as is, as it is now, banshee has way too much anti-personnel potential, IE spawnkilling with the banshee bomb. The only thing that needs changing is the roll banshee tricks needs a cooldown period of say…7 seconds :wink: that should give enough time to get some good focused DMR teamshotting on it before it rolls again, if the team really wants it gone. DO NOT nerf the bomb power, it works well currently as an anti-vehicle option, but perhaps make the bomb projectile slightly slower and buff the tracking ability, to bolster infantry ability to -Yoink- outta town when they see green death incoming whilst rewarding the pilot who waits for a lock on a vehicle befire letting it loose. Perhaps slightly less damage radius too to further discourage spawnkilling abuse.

  5. MELEE. NO BLEEDTHROUGH, the halo 3 system was worse, take this coming from a non-american, for us the halo 3 bleedtrough system was misery but now we atleast have a chance if we hold our nerve until the MOMENT the adversaries shield flashed out which i think is what makes the difference here, the visual feedback vs no visual feedback of when to hit in halo 3. Reach is about as good as FPS melee mechanics are gonna get in a worldwide online environment. One thing i would say is, the range at which a melee will connect is FAR too forgiving, ive had people lunge at me from 10 feet away, and thats not even a particularly laggy game, just an average one. I also see people meleeing thin air all the time when im fighting them just incase it lunges randomly and finishes me off, this indicates no one really knows when to melee and when not to, they just hit the button and see what happens. So tighten the beatdowns right up please, you should be seeing the whites of the dudes eyes before attempting it.

BONUS ROUND

  1. SMALL ARMS FIRE should not be able to flip a 3 tonne warthog with 3 one tonne spartans in it. Ever. The last time i experienced drift like that is driving over the nearest suspension bridge with a 90MPH crosswind.

  2. WRAITH BOARDING. Did you know that if a guy boards your wraith on the front hatch, you can just point the mortar straight at the ground infront of you and let er rip and he gets blasted right off? I know all too well. This is something that is basically total bull and short circuits the drivers punishment for letting himself get boarded like a fool.

  3. ARENA. 3 month seasons are too long, kids are selling high level onyx accounts to even stupider kids again. There has to be some way to make arena the stat and performance driven experience it was meant to be, but take heed, just displaying the trueskill numbers again aint it, unless you want to bring back the endless drama that accompanies them.

1: Dont let other human people see where you are with the waypoint thing, when they become zombie they know where you are
2: Take out Betraying, it really makes me mad when someone does it for no reason
3: Dont allow for Mutual kills between zombie and human, if the human shoots the zombie they shouldnt be killed after they die
4:When a zombie quits 1 random person will instantaneously become zombie… definately needs to be taken out
5: Oh yea… add a soft kill barrier at the bottom red lift on Swordbase, Its annoying when 5 people camp down there…

  1. Remove bloom from precision weapons (random precision weapons are not precise)

  2. Nerf AL’s duration to 1-3 seconds, with a single use restarting the AA cool down effect.

  3. Buff/add vehicles

  4. Increase jumping height (ie being able to jump over rockets, grenades, vehicles, etc like in Halo 3)

  5. Remove radar jammer from invisibility. The radar jammer defeats the purpose of being stealthy.

Wishlist of things that may never be:

  1. Add the Pelican to MM, Forge, and Custom Games.

  2. Add an extensive community MM category, where you have community maps for all sorts of game-types (Infection mansions, BTB canyons, Sniper sky towers, SWAT urban-styled cities, etc)

  3. Add secondary color to appear in all team-based MM

  4. Buff the hologram. Either give it a complete makeover or buff it in serious ways (ie, appears on radar, name above head, doesn’t glitch with only one shot). It is seriously useless as it is now.

  5. Add BS Angel’s Wort-Wort-Wort Armor Effect.

  1. Removal or nerfing of AL in all playlists. One such viable nerf would be limiting charges to 2 seconds per use. You can still block any form of damage this way, but it requires better timing, and can no longer be held down in order to survive where you shouldn’t.

  2. Bloom on the DMR adjusted to be more punishing to spammers in all scenarios. Double expansion + double reset may do the trick.

  3. Covenant arsenal severely buffed on nearly all fronts. Invasion Slayer is horribly stacked in the Spartan’s favour due to their superior weaponry. NR buffed from 7sk to 6sk. PR buffed, PL returned to near-Beta strength.

  4. Vehicle health significantly increased OR DMR damage to vehicles decreased. Warthog health in particular needs an increase, as does Ghost health. To compensate for DMR’s reduced ability to damage vehicles, anti-vehicle damage for heavy weapons increased.

  5. Return of 1-50 and ranked playlists (not sure if TU is needed to do this, but ah well).

BONUS: Sword Block. Gone.

I only need three

1.Bring back 1-50 for playlist ranks. Its been all over Bnet sence day one. I for one have been begging for it. And EVERYONE i know that plays halo wants it back.
2. i want to be matched with people with my rank/ trueskill. Almost everytime i am matched up with people that are soo horrible that they make me want to drop kick my xbox out the window, And my enemy team is all ranked at my rank. This happens most in arena which is the only thing i care about.
3. Make more then one ranked playlist.

  1. Get rid of all of the random pieces of white on all of the armor pieces. I know this seems pretty insignificant, but it really pisses me off when I see that permanent white stripe on the MK. VI helmet. Please do something about this?

  2. Get rid of bloom. If you did this, you would of course have to tweak the ROF and damage of all the effected weapons.

  3. Fix Armor Lock. Make it last for 2-3 seconds, be irreversible, and have only 1 use per charge. Also get rid of it’s frosting and sticky shedding.

  4. Bring back bleed-through. This would make the melee system infinitely better, coupled with the 75% damage modifier.

  5. Make framerate drops happen less. Come on.

> 1. Rebalance the weapon sandbox. Repeater should be stronger. Focus Rifle should do more damage the longer the beam is (long range kills quicker than close range). Plasma Launcher’s plasma rounds should fly through the air quicker. Frag Grenade explosion fuse time should be increased by a full second. Fuel Rod Gun should take 2 hits to kill players with full shields. Magnum’s RoF should be increased back to Beta status. Spiker and Plasma Rifle should kill faster. Sniper and DMR should do less damage to vehicles. Needle Rifle should do damage to vehicles as well. Turrets should be more accurate. Plasma Pistol should have a 2x scope so Elites aren’t totally screwed in the beginning of Invasion Slayer. Tweak bloom to reward pacing and discourage spamming. To comensate, make DMR RoF slightly faster so it’s not a slower kill time than the Halo 3 BR. And lastly, rebalance melee mechanics.

> 2. Rebalance vehicle sandbox. Banshee bomb should be nerfed and Plasma Cannons should be buffed. Ghost plasma cannons should shoot faster. Shade Turret should shoot twice as fast so we can see them in matchmaking. Warthog should have heavier physics. Revenant mortars should fly through air quicker and lock onto aerial vehicles (Covenant don’t have AA vehicle right now). Possibly introduce a transport falcon and troop transport hog. And Elephants!

> 3. Rebalance AA sandbox. You shouldn’t be able to shoot (or at least not accurately) while jetpacking. Hologram should be more realistic and appear red on the radar for enemies. This change will also mean the removal of Sword Block. You should become more visible when you scope in with Camo so camo snipers aren’t overbearing. We should be able to set an object that will need to be continuously damaged for it to be destroyed. And finally, team-specific zones so only Red Team will be able to access an area encircled by this hill marker. 1. No bloom JUST FOR ANNIVERSARY PLAYLISTS

2. No overheated of any turret mounted on a vehicle or tripod.

3. No reduced accuracy of turret mounted weapons when the trigger is pulled on for an excessive amount of time

4. Unlimited thrust of the ghost and banshee.

5. Flood for the new firefight map

  1. Make Halo: Reach a faster paced game. By making the bloom on the DMR bigger but having it reset faster (so spammers don’t win often).
  2. Increase run speed and jump height.
  3. Make every Armor Ability as pick-ups.
  4. Make the Frag grenades less powerful.
  5. Bring back the 1-50 system, or do something about Arena, like make it appear on your nameplate at ALL times. And make more playlist for the Division system.

My Top 5 that I wish would also be in but most likely wont:
1.A way to lower guns over Xbox Live
2.Duel Wielding
3.Make Firefight a survival game instead of camp DMR crab ammo game
4.Make Spartans and Elites equal again (No more stinken Elite only gametypes)
5.Make Spartans and Elites green and purple in Invasion like the beta.

  2. Banshee cooloff for flips and rolls, buff the main cannons so people dont always use FRG
  3. Restrict playlists for parties, bare minimum should be 2 people
  4. Elites in Invasion are at such a disadvantage, at the very least the focus rifle should be buffed like hell
  5. General map fixes so that one team doesnt have an advantage, Sword Base and Hemorrhage the main two

Agreed with 1.
2. is a bad idea. I like the grenade launcher in it’s current state because it takes a lot of skill to use efficiently and therefore should remain untouched.
3. I don’t think that’s possible through a TU.

  1. Bring back Halo 3’s 1-50 ranking system. The current system is too easy (I’m already freaking top 1% Onyx), and it’s incredibly lame that my rank resets every single month, taking away everything that I’ve worked for. As a result, the Arena’s population is pitiful in comparison to what it could be. Also make the rank more easily visible, so players can get an idea of how good someone is without having to go through six different screens looking for an Onyx percentage.

  2. Add more ranked playlists. The Arena is basically Halo 3’s Team Slayer. Where’s ranked Team Snipers (my personal favorite)? Where are ranked Doubles, SWAT, MLG, and Big Team?

  3. Remove all armor abilities except Sprint from ranked matchmaking. Jetpacking makes map control way too easy, and I’m not even going to say anything about Teleport (aka Evade) or Facepalm (aka Armor Lock).

  4. Fix the broken ranked matchmaking system; reduce search times. Players should be matched up and then sorted onto teams based on their skill levels. As it stands now, the game forms a team of players and then looks for another formed team to match you against. This enables savvy players to make “lobby parties,” teams of four which are actually searching in pairs and being unfairly matched against teams of complete randoms. They do this using party chat, since they know that if they are searching in twos and get two other players the same time their peers do, they are going to be on the same team, especially since there are so few people playing in the top Onyx percentages. Changing this will stop lobby parties and hopefully make search times faster, as the game won’t have to worry about making teams. Teams can be made and divided fairly once there are eight players.

  5. I’ve been playing Halo for ten years now. My final wish is that you at least consider what I have to say. I know for sure that the first two are the biggest reasons why Reach has a low population in comparison to Halo 3.

  2. 343 Favorites (Bungie Favorites from Halo 3)
  3. Stonger Vehicles (Halo 3 style)
  4. Race playlist with community made maps
  5. ODST/Survival playlist in Firefight with unlimited waves and skull settings
  1. Fix the HDD issues on the new model Xbox 360s

  2. Overhaul Juggernaut (fix weapon issues, make VIP possible through team based juggernaut, allow for destinations juggernaut can go to for points).

  3. Custom game option for health that recharges

  4. Custom game option for armor abilities to be one use only.

  5. Custom game search.

That’s all I’d want from the Title Update. Only other thing I could think of is new forgeworlds with different themes (snow/covenant, earth/city, sandbox/sandtrap), but that can only be done through DLC and not through a title update.
