Your thoughts on the weapons so far

 I think the br feels pretty good in this game, 

the sidekick can replace other primaries at low to mid range,
bulldog is good if you learn to use it properly, heatwave destroys people if you can lead your shots and use the right firing mode,
hydra is good for ruining enemy vehicles,
spankr spanks,
stalker seems to be more suited for softening up enemies for your teammates to finish off, disruptor can prevent enemy shields from regenerating if hit enough times,
mangler is solid at close range,
ar is useful for once,
needler feels sort of useless,
plasma carbine feels weaker than it did in the tech preview,
sword is unbeatable at cqc and the hammer trades a slower fire rate for absurd range.

  How do the rest of you feel about the weapons in the game?

Maybe I’m too tainted by my favorite Halo game, Halo CE, but it seems to me that both the “Spanker” and the grenades need a major buff. Their splash damage is either too small, or completely directional. I often times find myself getting killed by a damn plasma pistol because the rocket I fired collided with a ledge that is slightly below my enemy, thus not a direct hit…

Oh, and also, the hammer is WAAAAAAAAAAY to slow, and the front damage reach is very long

Geez, where to start?

Sidekick is just a semi-automatic SMG for PC players.
AR is a power weapon.
Hydra is been neutered to something rather pathetic.
Sniper rifle is the new spartan laser.
Grenades and SPNKR have inconsistent blast radii.
Every vehicle is a tank.
Bulldog is a joke.

Good assessment, the plasma rifle feels like the worst gun in the game by far. Even with a bit of practice I don’t like it. Raveger sucks too.

Sniper is harder to use than other games due to mad flinch and reticule bloom but does a great job long range. That’s what they wanted so I guess it works as intended but is definitely a bit less fun to use now.

The Heatwave is ridiculous, didn’t realise how long it’s range was and it shreds Warthogs. Love the gun now I’ve played more, didn’t rate it in the flight, I was very wrong!

Commando was OP, now it sucks. Feels like it needs a buff, but still to not be as good as it was in flight. It’s definitely a support weapon, just rapid fire the body and let a teammate hit the headshot.

Disruptor is absolutely insane, great gun. Delay the shield, kill round corners, decent damage and range. Stalls vehicles, great weapon for what it is.

Stalker Rifle is hard to use but insane in the hands of the pros. They have been tearing it up on HCS with it.

Mangler is probably the best gun in the ranked meta right now (outside of true power weapons like rockets).

It’s a great supper/mop up weapon. I had a challenge to get 10 kills with it, and I ended up going 26-0 in a game of total control just picking off people with low shields trying to contest zones.

BR, assault rifle, rocket launcher, cindershot, mangler, skewer, shock rifle, stalker rifle and sentinel beam are all in really solid spots

the sidekick is a spamfest, it should be more precise to pair better with the AR’s full auto. i’d slightly lower its RoF and remove bloom.

the bulldog is bad, needs its nerf reverted

ravager is genuinely useless

hydra is bad, easily outdamaged by other weapons of the same skill caliber to use

heatwave horizontal damage is a little underwhelming for the difficulty needed to land shots. really only good against players who move predictably.

sniper has too much going against it. glint, pixel perfect hitboxes, slow RoF, it needs some lenience in one of those regards.

disruptor needs a slight buff, no real reason to use it over the sidekick unless you want to meticulously emp a vehicle.

pulse carbine is okay, essentially a direct upgrade to the plasma pistol. pair it with the sidekick and you can kill in under a second.

plasma pistol needs its emp back

the commando needs bloom removed, the recoil is enough. damage could be slightly lowered to compensate.

gravity hammer and sword are way too strong in arena, they need reliable counters. melee parrying should be brought back.

frag grenades detonate too fast. we don’t have halo 5’s advanced movement anymore, they can be toned down.

It’s the DMR of the game, and also a good counter-sniper weapon

I hate the ravager and now I have to get 10 kills in a PVP. You know what happens when I manage to pick up a ravager and confront a enemy? He takes me out with the AR. And yes, I am not that good at multiplayer.

Have you tried to use the charged shot against group of enemies? In the last match I’ve gotten three kill with that

Remember that you have ammo for just 3-4 fully charged shots!
In anycase the Ravager need to do more damage like in the August Flight

It’s decent but there are quite a few changes or additions that they need to make. First off the list is tweaking the progression system, which they are actively trying to improve, second… I’d like to see the ability to choose which mode I want to play, rather than suffer through RNG to get the desired mode; third… I would like to see swat and infection return, though I am almost certain that they will eventually show up. I would hope that they aren’t planning on taking 6 months to release these modes and make these changes.

Halo should prioritize fun above all else. Balance comes second. Think of how great Halo 2 was, even though dual-wielding kinda threw things off.

We don’t need the bulldog, give us the one-shot shotgun.
We don’t need the hydra. Anywhere a Hydra spawns can just be a SPNKR.
Flag/Oddball should be a one-hit melee like in every Halo ever.
The red brute plasma thing is useless (even charged up). [edit: Ravager :roll_eyes:]
I really miss the DMR or carbine.
The electric weapons are meh.

I want to throw some of these weapons off a cliff and pretend they don’t exist anymore.

Particularly the Hydra vs players which some challenges ask for hydra kills, the hydra vs players is terrible you can only use it to finish damaged players off and even when you can utilize the lock on mode like in BTB you get 2-3 shots off and the enemy player can run off before they are killed the tracking is lost, but you know what didn’t suck and did the same job as the hydra but better the Bruteshot bring it back !

The other major trash gun is the Ravenger which you may aswell be prancing around blowing bubbles at the other team ! MULTIPLE times I’ve emptied a full clip into someone the gun overheats and they kill you before you can fire again I want the people responsible for making the Ravenger FIRED :joy:

AR feels useful for the first time since Halo: CE
Commando is a useless BB gun
Shotgun is useless and any range past six inches
BR feels great but needs a very slight increase in rate of fire
Energy sword has broken inconsistent lunge
Gravity hammer has infinite range
Sniper sway when shot is way to much for a fully trained super solider.
