SPOILER IS TAGGED IN YELLOW FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T FINISH THE GAME.
I have beated the Halo 4 Campaign on Legendary once I first got my hands on said videogame and I think the Campaign was truly amazing and jaw-dropping, don’t you think? I love the addition of the CGI scenes whenever you beat the level, the well-made soundtrack and ofcourse, the ending whereas the Didact was doing his speech which gave me goose bumps and chills. I almost cried when Cortana died.
Very nice graphics… but let down with combat being very very repetitive interspersed with bizarre mini-games.
Think back to Halo 1. It was all about combat and vehicles and the seamless jump between the two. With Halo 4 there is this… but with so many weird mini-games; climbing, ghost run, pelican level, broadsword level, QTEs.
I just see a much better game hidden in there underneath all the gimmicks and fluff, I really wish 343i could have seen it too.
The soundtrack was amazing!!! I just wish it stood out more and was better connected to more of the story.
I couldn’t stand the whole Cortana finally touching Chief at the end and the “take a girl for a ride” type of dailogue/relationship. I liked it when he was just cold and focused on winning/saving humanity.
But I liked the Didact. Needed more of him. Awesome villain, awesome voice actor. Better be back in a later title.
ODST is still the top campaign experience for me, personally. Perfection.
Yeah, but there is one thing that really shocks me. If the Didact was immune to the Composer effects - floating in the composer beam without being affected - then if he fell inside the hole of the composer, wouldn’t he be alive but badly hurt? I mean, he has better advanced armour than Master Chief and advanced technology (forerunner cough.) Although, we have to wait for Halo 5. :>
I enjoyed the campaign. The graphics were amazing, the story was beautify written out and told, and it was fun to search for all of the audio logs and easter eggs scattered throughout the game.

I think he teleported away with the composer transit system to some unknown forerunner location and will return later in the franchise what i dont get is in the credits it sounded like the didact was on trail or it was just a voice over to add effect but still i dont think he died and i think there are more forerunners out there

Yeah, I love the ODST campaign and have played it many times.
I think halo 4’s story suffers a bit due to 1) being a bit short, and 2) halo 4’s story would flow better if it didnt have to be a shooter.
The infinity and chief just happen to show up at a forerunner planet with covenant (who they didnt explain in game) who just happened to be outside it all at the same time.
Instead of having chief struggle to survive on requiem, we have to fight covenant because halo is a shooter and chief has to shoot stuff. Maybe could have had requiem be instantly hostile too him instead of covies, but we had to have covies in order to feel like halo.
Infinity had to arrive when it did, because otherwise chief woulda stolen a covenant ship and left requiem. The didact’s escape would have to be even more forced. He’d also have a shortage of human weapons to shoot covies with, and a shortage of covie weapons if they showed up later as well.
I did however, enjoy its core elements, and the interaction between chief and cortana was perfect.
The gameplay was mostly fun, though Shutdown and Midnight left a lot to be desired. The story on the other hand was hit and miss.
And the dialog was atrocious at times. Take two scenes from the same damn mission (composer) as an example:
When Dr. Tilson(sp?) explains that the composer can’t be moved, and Johs tells her that they don’t have a choice, the scene was relatively well acted; it was heavy without being tiresome, and you felt real emotion.
But the opening of that mission when John gets on the radio and says, “This is UNSC Master Chief to base…” makes me want to tear my fraking eyes out.
And I have to say that while I enjoyed playing Reclaimer, the premise of that mission is about the dumbest I have ever seen in a video game. Just don’t even get me started on how little sense it made.
Overall, I’d say the campaign was operational, but shaky.

You know I think that’s probably the most interesting thing to say about it. The concensus between me and my mates was that it felt like a really good sci-fi action movie except where we had to go through the obligatory Halo-brand gameplay which contrived delays and more reasons why we had to clear out hole A of badguys B so McGuffin C could proceed (see. target designator for the Mammoth. Why can’t we just aim the damn gun ourselves! It’s not as if you could miss the great big stationary doom -Yoink!-.) Minus those bits and this could have easily been the Halo movie. But it was the next game and it had to balance those cinematic ambitions with delivering content.
To be fair though I think 343 did a really good job of that. The game flowed very well in my opinion except at a few particularly contrived moments that were probably necessary for the whole game aspect of the game. And I really didn’t have a problem with the length either. My content lust was saited with spartan ops as it was and there wasn’t any particular spot in the game for me that felt rushed (and so could have benefited from an extra mission.) It doesn’t rank as the best of anything in the all time category (Space Marine has a stronger setting, the same (though more coherant) plot, and a much better way of weaving gameplay into the narrative) but it was one of the most pleasant experiences of gaming’s 2012.
Campaign is the weakest since Halo 2’s. Requiem is a classic Halo level and others have moments of greatness, but there’s a few key things holding the campaign back.
A weak story with some really bad sci-fi sprinkled here and there (chief detonating a nuke in his bare hands and surviving, didact falling to his death even though he can levitate). Levels that are almost copied and pasted from other Halo games. And horrible didact, promethean, and to a lesser extent Forerunner, art direction.
> I’m kind of sad that we didn’t get a lot of the Didact. He was awesome, and a great villain for a Halo. Campaign was amazing.
I think if they end up going for a more Forerunner themed Saga instead of something even more strange, and bigger, then we may end up seeing him alot… alot… in the next 2+ games to come, but I agree I love his Voice Actor very much as well.
I think the Campaign had some excellent moments, definitely some of the best of the series, I think Halo CE and Halo 4 are the best overall so far, with Halo 2 not far behind them. Halo 2 had alot of huge battle scenes and different settings, its definitely a favorite of mine, and I didnt enjoy Halo 3 nearly as much as Halo 2.
Oh my goodness the Campaign was amazing. Especially the last mission…
You and your weapon vs. dozens of Prometheans. My heart was racing throughout the whole mission, and the “Awakening” soundtrack playing during the mission but it over the top. EPIC
I fail to understand… how someone cant realize what is happening in Halo 4 or understand the plot of it, not when its all simple to understand and right in your face.
