I was wonder what your reasons are for the armor and colors you have chosen in Halo 4, or even in the previous installments. Were you going for a specific look? Or did you just say, ‘this one looks neat’?
My armor choices were for a reason, which is that in halo 3 I found a type that looked nice, and I’ve tried imitating that ever since.
I like them because they’re not too bulky and not too light with lots of those little angles so it looks more like a real warmachine. What I mean by that is, how many curves do you see on modern tanks?
As for my colors? That my turn into a TL;DR if I’m not already there…
I usually picture my Spartan in a Spartan Ops cutscene (since those cinematic action sequences are AWESOME), and if it seems like he could belong there it’s a good armor setup to me. Therefore, I take into account the consistency of the design/texture/pattern. This is kind of how I judge other peoples’ armor too. For my colors, I don’t really have a reason besides that I like this color combo.
I wanted something unique, so I sets out on a 3 month quest to earn the Vanguard Forerunner Destroyer armor. A few months later, I unlocked it and I haven’t stopped wearing it since. As for my colors, my favorite color is red, so I use that as my primary color. My secondary color is white, mainly because that’s all I thought looked good with red.
That’s how I was with the Vanguard CTF Victory armor, but just the other day I decided to try something new. Unfortunately, my second favorite helmet (Protector) apparently obtained a glitch from the update that occurred around the release of the Champion’s DLC that gives it a random visor (even though it doesn’t have a visor!).

Yeah sorry to hear that. I know that there is like a visor on the Protector now, right?
Yeah, it sucks. What is most frustrating is that I don’t even have the slightest idea why it would get that glitch. Like, did an employee at 343 go into the Protector helmet’s code and put in a visor for some reason? I don’t even know how a mistake like this could originate (and still not be fixed).
Anyways, this conversation is kind of off topic, so for the sake of the thread, we should probably stop.
Ever since Halo 3 i’ve been a Recon armor guy and that didn’t really change in H4 especially when i unlocked the Recon SURG. Lately however i’ve switched to Deadeye and Venator RFCT because these armors fit my personality and play-style. As for colors, it’s always been “Steel & dark red” but if it were up to me, i would only have onyx colored armor. When i switched armors, i also changed from “Steel” to “Silver & Rust” with a gold visor to match Promethean aesthetics.
My armor has not updated itself, it’s supposed to be warrior helmet and chest with the rest as it is.
I picked warrior because that was my experience in life. I was picked on for being the fat kid, the kid who would do nothing in life. I hated bullies, so when I saw others being bullied, I slugged the antagonists. I was inspired to fight for others who could not. To defend the weak, and protect the meek. I became a warrior for other people. Hence, warrior armor is my go to.
As for the colors, white is for purity, for the cause which I fight.
Blue is for nobility, to show the dignity of the human spirit.
And now you know my armor.
Well lets see.
Long ago, when I first started Halo, I wore Red and blue because I always looked up to Spiderman. Each piece of armour I wore, was just cause it looked cool. When 4 came around, I decided to use Grey and red, because Red and blue was kinda kid like. Starting in H4, I started to get a love for the Gungnir helmet. So with a little help from the people at the Rate this spartan armour thread, I made the perfect armour to complement my gungnir helmet. I use blue and yellow because
Blue is in memory of a certain friend
Gold looked great with blue.
In the end, I wear what I wear because I want to wear it.
I went with the all ODST look with the Midnight visor mainly because I just love the ODSTs. They’re like the baddest of the bad in the UNSC Marines. I’ve used it in every installment since Halo 3 that allowed armor customization.
Right now I based my Spartan off the Mcfarlane CIO figure just with a couple changes. I used to use Gungnir or Deadeye with blue and grey colors. The one thing I never change are my Ranger shoulders. Havn’t changed them since I unlocked them.
Reading all of these posts is pretty cool, seeing all of the little stories of why we wear what we wear. I had actually forgot to mention why I chose my set beyond just having the angles.
My armor is built around matching the Recruit helmet.
In Halo 3 I only used the ODST helmet because… It’s the ODST helmet. It’s amazing
So, Up until Halo 4, I was using the ODST helmet and once it was taken away from me… I was quite sad. So, I used the Recruit helmet because it was the closest to the ODST.
Then when the Champions bundle came out I was so excited, finally, my true helmet and I would be reunited. But, looking at the Halo 4 ODST helmet and comparing it to every other ODST helmet in the previous games it… was off. But, I wore it because it was ODST. Then I started to look in the armory and see the Recruit helmet and how it had actually grown on me. SO, I put it back on and built my whole armor set around it.
Honestly, I really do not like the selection of helmets that we were given in this game. I had the Recruit helmet for the longest time because I couldn’t find a helmet that I truly wanted to wear. The one helmet that really grabbed my attention was the Ranger helmet due to its intimidating appearance. But I’ve always been a sucker for the Halo CE-style helmet, so I was excited when it was one of the helmets that would appear in the Champions Bundle.
Yeah, some of the helmets are a little dorky-looking…
Wetwork, FOTUS, Defender, EVA (always have hated it), Orbital (more of the same), Oceanic, Raider, Pioneer, and Scanner are all… well… they don’t look like they belong on the High-tech super soldiers that are SPARTANs.
I personally went for an intimidating look, so I chose the Raider helmet, which a bunch of bulky armor pieces. There isn’t much of a story behind my armor of choice.
I can’t stand most of 4’s armor looks, for the most part are some rejected Forerunner design. Don’t look “human” much to me. I like Recruit, Warrior, Recon, Scout, Mark VI, you get the idea. See my Spartan

Not a fan of most of 4’s looks, but I respect this.
