How would your perfect Halo game look like? If you could take anything from any Halo game and put them in one game?
I think mine would look like this;
-
Halo 3 ODST Firefight.
-
Halo Reach Firefight.
-
Halo 5 Warzone.
-
Halo 3 weapons, equipment and shield system.
-
Halo 3 multiplayer ranked/social playlists.
With one featured playlist each week or so. Like double exp in Halo 3, or featured in Halo 5.
-
Classic playlists/game types and new school playlists/game types. (Both permanent.)
-
Halo 1, 2, 3 campaign style/feel.
-
Split-screen, 4 player co-op and online, campaign, firefight and social matchmaking.
-
Halo 5 Forge and custom games (since I feel this has improved with Halo 5) this could of course also be played in classic mode.
I probably forgot something but I would update my game after feedback if I had the power to do so.
Would you play my game and what would yours look like?
I think you can use the wishlist threads to discuss this with others, but I’ll let the mods decide on that.
But to be fair, my preferred Halo game would have an amazing campaign, awesome multiplayer, and cherry-picking the best aspects from previous games and throwing them into the mix. Short and sweet.
My perfect Halo? Okay, I’ll shoot:
- Epic campaign and multiplayer - Mix of the new and old artstyle - Splitscreen… - Halo 5’s forge and custom games capabilities - Halo Reach’s style of firefight - No microtransactions - Full armour and emblem customisation - A party and ranking matchmaking system - No dodgers - Content ready and polished - Maps that are memorable to play in, same level as the Halo trilogy - Prefer the classic sounds of the guns, grenades, vehicles and explosion over the new onesI can’t decide which style of gameplay I should go for. I’ll say a playlist/category for those who prefer the classic and an another for those who prefer the modern movement. My mind is still conflicting between the two.
There’s way more that can fit in my ideal version of Halo but right now, I guess I used all the available ones I can find in my head. So, I guess I’ll update it if I can (if this thread gets any traction).
My perfect Halo would be:
- H5 multiplayer mechanics - Halo: Reach customization - All good helmets and armors from all games (they could do a poll or something, idk) - Half achievement armors, the other half is loot box or progression armor - A classic Halo section to please the OG’s - All Firefight modes we’ve seen so far - Couch co-op - A campaign even better than CoD: Modern Warfare - Current H5 tuning of weapons (obviously, buff the H5BR but that’s pretty much it) - More developer made maps and less bull-Yoink- like White Cell, Pegasus II, and Orion II.Your game sounds great, but it borrows too much from Classic Halo for my tastes.
Basically, an updated CE. A new game could also apply if they used CE’s multiplayer mechanics.
- Update the campaign maps and add more to extend the story. - Update the AI. - Do some slight tweaks with the sandbox, movement and spawns. - Online capabilities obviously, split-screen and 4 player co-op. - For multiplayer, add more maps, update the originals, make 4v4 more viable and add a bunch of playlists. - Give it some decent customization with a good variety of armor. - Armor achievable through progression system and achievements. - Ranked and social matchmaking with a progression system. - A customs browser. - H6 Forge (I imagine it will be better). - Firefight with solo and parties. The Flood awaits. - A campaign and multiplayer theater mode.I know I’m probably missing stuff, but that’s it for now.
Alright, I tried to condense it but the list turned out to be pretty sizeable anyway: -
- A lengthy campaign with a narrative focus like Halo 2 and character dynamics like ODST. - Distinct level design like Halo 3, prioritising player choice and expression through a varied sandbox. - Music akin to Spartan Assault or the orginal Halo Wars; Taking ques from Marty and Mike’s style without sounding too derivative. - Sound design and Art-style similar to H2A and HW2. - 4 player co-op. (Splitscreen, LAN, XBL) - Terminals - Skulls, Scoring, Time-Trials and Leader-boards. - Matchmaking on dedicated servers. - Playlists split into Ranked (using Halo 5’s placement and tier based ranking system), Social, Community and Co-operative. - Inclusion of all classic game-modes, in addition to Headhunter and Stockpile, with Dominion and Strongholds included as variants of Territories. - Return of Invasion with player count increased to 12v12. - 15 maps with a range of small, mid-tier and large maps that are both symmetrical and asymmetrical.
(Including a High-Ground remake). - H2A style gameplay (i.e. no abilities) with interactable map elements (option to disable in Custom Games). - Dual Wielding for certain weapons that emphasise varying utilities. - Seat-switching can stay. - Trait-zones similar to Halo CE / Reach - Slick ice, low gravity, etc. - Equipment system similar to Halo 3 (equipment visible on player models to reduce element of surprise). - Credit based ranking system with military titles. - Spartan customisation similar to Halo Reach with Elite customisation similar to Halo 4. - Armor variants purchasable through credits, attachments unlocked through challenges. - Reach style medals that appear less frequently than Halo 4 and 5. - Join-in progress for Social and Community, not for Ranked. - Matchmaking preferences, including solo-que option, and player counts for all playlists. - Return of Firefight with expansive maps and currency (‘energy’) based unlock system similar to Escalation or Zombies mode. - Custom Firefight options on par with Reach, including Classic Firefight and Firefight Vs. (4v4 PvPvE mode with objectives). - Potential return of the Flood for this mode. - Custom Game options that also surpass Reach, with a Custom Games browser like Halo 5. - Expansive Forge mode like Halo 5, but streamlined with weapon/vehicle variants categorised under ‘object traits’ and a classic or simplified control scheme similar to Halo 3 / Reach / 4 / 2A. (Team color should also have the option to affect objects, and civilian vehicles would be a nice addition too). - Theatre that covers all modes of play with a ‘Spectator mode’ that allows other players to see the hosts point of view. - Daily / Weekly challenges similar to Halo Reach and Halo Wars 2. - In-game Spartan Company support with clan-tags, sub-emblems and exclusive challenges / rewards. - 343 community interaction with highlighted forge maps, custom games, player videos and screenshots similar to Halo 3.I think that’s everything. My ideal Halo game would raise the content bar set by Halo Reach and attempt to perfect the classic gameplay style. This is pretty much what I’m hoping for after Halo 6 has ran its course.
It would take too long to describe here.
