Your opinions on halo loot crates

Hey guys I havne’t been posting here in a while since I’ve been loaded with college assignments and etc. Anyways over a year I remembered when i first gotten my first halo loot crate which was the ODST crate, it was a pretty neat crate and it was one of my first experiences with the crates however here in Australia well… I paid mostly around 60 something bucks for just one crate? Don’t know how much it is for you guys though. Anyways after that i decided well heck that was a good experience i think i’ll just leave at just tha-
Before i could stop wasting my poor wallet i realized the combat evolved anniversary crate was coming out and since been a huge fan from halo 1 decided to get that. Now somehow this particularly made me have a bit of a sour taste in this one. When my CE crate arrived i was a little bit disappointed first off.

  • Since Australia’s uh weird customs we got swapped out with a card holder instead of the glowing energy sword letter cutter. I haven’t used it yet…
  • 343 guilty spark library card… uhm… okay?
  • the poster was ripped before i even checked the damn thing
  • and well… the intel file was bent. yep. i believe that intel file was bent for everone
Anyways the only few good things came out of it was the plasma grenade mug
Captain Keyes shirt (though i did wish it was done a bit properly, guess i am a bit picky when it comes to detail)
And of course the small statue figurine of chief jumping over a grunt

At this point i stopped buying loot crates because more and more some of the crates became i don’t know… a little bit tad disappointing? Maybe that’s just me however few things i do enjoy are the intel files and the artworks done by Isaac Hannaford who’s also done previous artworks for bungie. Gotta love that classic iconic halo art.

Anyways now I’ve recently checked out the newest additions for the halo loot crates which is the halo 3 crate and of course the next one after that is Sgt Johnson. Without hesitation (which i should probably have more control of) i decided to well… order the halo 3 crate which of course i used a neat discount code so i only had to spend 45 dollars instead of 60. Guess I’m doing this since I loved halo 3 back in primary school.

Anyways the crates to me a bit mix, i like some of em and i dislike quite a few of em. Whats everyones opinion on the crates? I know this is a bunch of ramblings from me but i wanna know your opinions, thoughts and whatnot about halo loot crates.

Whether or not you should buy them is kind of up to you. It depends on how much you like the items, and if you are willing to take the gamble on random stuff. I bought the first year worth of crates, but stopped after. The stuff inside kept looking skimpier and skimpier over the last few months in my opinion, and I felt that for $40 every other month for it wasn’t worth it. I was really disappointed as when they were first announced I had super high expectations. Looking back I was mostly disappointed because of the randomness involved. In my head I had only pictured items I would like when in reality they have to try to cater to a much wider audience. In the end it’s really up to you. If you’re not as picky as me and don’t mind the price go for it, if not, you’re saving yourself some money.

It depends if you like the items. At first, I read it as loot boxes.

I dont mind the stuff we’ve gotten so far, but most if it is starting to run thin to me too. Hell I cant even remember where half the stuff from the crates has gone, mingled up in my room’s mess. I might quit sooner or later, cause its not worth this much money for the intel files.

I despise lootcrates with a passion, whether they are Halo loot crates or some other kind of loot crates. You’re buying a box filled with toys and opening it up to see what’s inside like a little kid on Christmas. I can see the appeal I suppose for children, but I prefer knowing what I’m buying before I buy it.

It’s supposed to give you a sense of pride and accomplishment.

I really wish the shirts were more serious. The Storm shirt was awesome, but I feel like most of the shirt designs were made for kids.

Dislike strongly, but i still paid for fall of reach req pack

Lol!

They are nice, but I don’t feel bad about not getting each one. I’ll probably just hold out for themes that catch my eye.

I think they’re a little too expensive, but that’s my only real opinion

This thread is about the Halo Legendary Crate not req packs.

I really enjoy them. Being a big Halo Collector, they’re a nice little surprise every other month

I enjoy them, but I would only recommend the subscriptions if you have extra money and are a collector…otherwise I’d say better to pick the crate you really are interested in or eBay for the individual must haves.

Side note- The price on shipping and such from loot crate is going up soon.

Ohh…my kids really get excited when our crate shows up. Even my wife has to get in on what’s inside…and she is most definitely not a gamer…but she usually see’s at least one item she likes.

Absolutely disgusting. I enjoyed the old way of unlocking armor in H4. I put this on the same level as battlefront 2. This hits harder for me because i actually care about halo.

I just received the Halo Legendary crate (late Christmas gift) and I liked what I got and the art styles inside the actual box. However I personally think of it As a one time thing. It’s not something I would continuously get but I was really impressed with it.

I think this is my third crate and honestly when my subscription is up, I’m going back to the standard random crate. The figures are unique but the price you pay isn’ worth what you get. Only thing I’ve really liked is the one golden pin and the needler pens. The rest is just sitting in their boxes in my closet. It’ hard to consider anything halo collectible since h3 forward. So much merchandise has been pushed as limited or collectible that it lost meaning to me. My wife is getting the potter crate and she’s come to the same conclusion with hers.

Lotta t-shirts, some cool mugs…but like, pens? Bottle openers? Really?
I want something BETTER please. Im still waiting for a plush plasma grenade yo
