What you think should be in Halo 4? I collected 12 of the most popular ideas I found. (Sure, the list isn´t quantitativ proved.)

From 1-12. The only ones that I really don’t like are 1, 3 is to over powered, 5, 6, 7 I’m not really sure about, 9 would be better in Halo Wars. I like space combat but I think there should also be parts where you are in 0G with just chief. My favorite are the dual wield idea, and the mech idea. If I see dual wield I will be MUCH happier then if I don’t and if I see a mech somewhere in the game then holy -Yoink- I’m hopping right in that.

Halo Wars-2:

YES. Sure. New Units for Humans and Covernant.
Also with Battleship-Combat in Space. I dunno how to do it, but should be like the games where you play a Battleship in 2nd World War. Iam myself not an expert for real time strategy-games. Also add some Landing Pots, so you can try to board an enemy ship.

I don´t need to see some mysterious things in Halo Wars 2. Save that for Halo 4 or something. I just want to see a ‘total war’ between Humans VS Covernant.

Flood as race Nr.3? Similar to Starcraft? Hell I don´t care. But would be hard to bet in the timeline.

Halo Wars-2 should play after Halo Wars 1 and for Halo Reach; in my opinion.

Halo ODST-2:

YES. Sure. A storyline during the Invasion of Reach would be great. I also want to see the 4 ODST-Guys from ODST-1 again.

There could be a dynamic level, where you use the space lift up. Then you use a special ODST/ONI-Ramming-fighter/landing-craft to board an enemy cruiser to get something. Then you escape with a Phantom or whatever. And then: (this would be awesome:) you use the same space lift down!
Sure new enemys appear and so on, but that would be realy great.
Space Lift Level Should take like (at least) 10 Minutes. But not longer than 30 Minutes. You should feel the long way up and down. And enjoy the sight over New Alexandria.

I dunno if you should play a silent FPS-Guy or only the ODST-Characters like in ODST-1. But no flashbacks this time, it wouldn´t fit. May be you could chose which character you use for a mission; each character has other weapons at start. (Like Dutch Laser; Romeo Sniper Rifle).

ODST-1 Was made a bit to fast. I noticed that somehow. But it is still a great game: I just want to say. Don´t Hurry with ODST-2!

  1. I wouldn’t want to see any Iron Sights, in the sense that I haven’t seen a single weapon in the Halo universe that has Iron Sights for aiming :stuck_out_tongue: I would like to see the actual scope of the weapon I’m looking trough though and not just a zoomed in circle with blurr around it.

  2. Hmm, no opinion really, depends on how it’s executed, which faction it’s made by, it’s armament and so on.

3a. Yup, would only make sense for there to be. According to cannon it’s the newer Mjolnir suit used from Halo 2 and onwards that enable John (Master Chief) to effectively use two weapons. Wasn’t quite possible with the older suits used in CE and Reach.
Still, gameplay is rather nice with just one weapon, but I’m OK either way.

  3. If it makes sense for the story, sure. Another way to fight humans is to make a firefight mode where you play an elite (or new enemy) against Marines, could be pretty fun.

  5. As in large open areas during some missions? Sure, I’d love to see something like the “Global Battles” bungie experimented with for Reach to be implemented.
    As in GTA free roaming gameplay, no thanks. Not in Halo.

9a. I loved it in reach and sure wouldn’t mind. Doesn’t have to be space though, just a map with a fair amount of flying would be nice. (A mission with more ground based vehicle battle would be nice too)

9b. Well it kind of makes sense for them to be around during a space battle right? And for fighters/bombers to attack them. It however makes no sense for the players one character to control an entire battleship so nothing like that!
As for Halo Wars 2, if we ever get something like that, space battle should would be nice.

  1. Dynamic levels? Kinda like New Alexandria or what? If so, could be nice, thought more scripted levels usually turn out more interesting.

  2. Some sure, but keep it on the light side unless of course they want to make MC a proper character and not just a body for the player to project on then bring on the details :stuck_out_tongue:

12 Would be neat to have something like that for the final level again.

And then for your other questions,
1a. Halo Wars 2? Yes please! But please, make it more of a proper RTS this time and give use a PC version :stuck_out_tongue:
1b. Space battles in Halo Wars 2, could be really nice…

2a. Could be a nice spinoff title to make in between Halo 4 and 5 using the engine of Halo 4.
2b. Sure, or tell us a completely new story. Problem with being on Reach if we use the old team is that the rookie won’t be a part if it but more importantly the character we play as would have to die or something so rookie could replace him (though that could of course be done at a later point in the timeline after the game).
2c. I’d say meet at least some of them, maybe work with the team during some mission but else give use a new more interesting team. Making the original team more interesting could work too.
2d. Or we could experiment a little and have a character with some actual character.

No. Its just not Halo if Iron sights are included.

2nd: A Mech as vehicle? - Yes or No?
Yes. As long as its a Forerunner Mech battling you and you take control of it. I dont like the idea of a supersoldier getting into a mech suit. That just doesnt seem right.

3rd-A: Dual Weapons in Again? - Yes or No?
Yes. I loved Dual weapons!

3rd-B: Dual Particle Swords? - Yes or No?
Only for Campaign, I dont think they would work very well in multiplayer.

Ummmm I dunno, I would like to have a deeper story where you can choose different paths and so on. But I dont want to have upgrades that you can apply to your suit etc.

5th: Modifiable Weapons and/or Vehicles? (Like in Gunman Chronicles?) - Yes or No? And how?
For modifibale weapons, maybe as long as its simple things. I dont want to see Halo become too much like CoD. Vehicles? No.

6th: Fighting VS Humans/Rebells as MC? - Yes or No?
Yes. I would love to see that.

7th: Areas without regenerating shields; and may be collectable shield loader (like power ups) - Yes or No? And how?
Could add a bit more difficulty to the campaign. I like it.

8th: Free Roaming Areas? - Yes or No? And how?
Yes, I would love to have areas like ODST. Not the whole game, just maybe a level or two.

Yes. It would be cool.

9th-B: Space Combat with Battleships - Yes or No? Or better put this in Halo Wars 2?
Better for Halo Wars 2.

Yes, Halo has always been about huge vista’s and great views. I want to be able to walk out a just be amazed by the environment.

11th: More Details over MC Life? Yes or No?
Yes, but not directly. Maybe as Terminals or something like that.

12th: Run-Away Areas with Countdown-Timer (like in Halo 1 CE) - Yes or No?
That is a must. It is pretty much required.

1st: Iron Sight? - Yes or No?
No. But if they’re included, you shouldn’t be able to move with the left stick while looking down into them (CoD is unrealistic for this reason). Instead, you have to use the armor abilities button + left stick to move (similar to MoH Airborne, with the ability to lean and stick out of cover). I like being able to stick my head out and get some shots and going back into cover. Stepping out and then quickly moving sideways is not that great.

2nd: A Mech as vehicle? - Yes or No?
No. As nice it would be to be like that marine in that one Halo anime episode, I already feel like a mech. darkfire said it best.

3rd-A: Dual Weapons in Again? - Yes or No?
Yes. Also we should be able to melee while dual wielding, but only in campaign (it should be an option in custom games).

3rd-B: Dual Particle Swords? - Yes or No?
As long as it isn’t as simple as those ice picks in CoD MW 2.

Here’s how it could work:

lunge and swing with one sword with right trigger
sword block with left trigger (either you have to time it correctly when you press or you can hold it (blocking with it) for a certain amount of time)
lunge and swing both swords when both triggers pressed at the same time. The force of two swords would overwhelm sword block but would result in energy drainage relevant to the amount of damage your opponent takes from it (i.e. 5% damage if the opponent has weak shields/health, 10-15% if opponent has full shields/health). Or something liek that.

5th: Modifiable Weapons and/or Vehicles? (Like in Gunman Chronicles?) - Yes or No? And how?
I’d prefer upgrade-able, like in MoH Airborne. For example, the concussion rifle, when wielded by the player, is pitiful. But if the player gets enough kills with it…

Upgrade 1: Player’s concussion rifle reload time decreased
Upgrade 2: Player’s concussion rifle does more damage
Upgrade 3: Player’s concussion rifle stuns enemies like the CE plasma rifle

6th: Fighting VS Humans/Rebells as MC? - Yes or No?
No.

7th: Areas without regenerating shields; and may be collectable shield loader (like power ups) - Yes or No? And how?
Interesting.

8th: Free Roaming Areas? - Yes or No? And how?
It should be like Halo 2 while allowing the player to do the objectives in any order. Heavy scripting should be heavily done for AI vehicle movement. I don’t want Phantoms to explode by scripting, AI killed off by the game (like on The Covenant at the Hornets, the Flood on H3 level Halo) in plain sight, AI to be restricted or confined, etc. I want it to be like CE-H2.

12th: Run-Away Areas with Countdown-Timer (like in Halo 1 CE) - Yes or No?
Yes.

Iron Sights: No. Iron Sights will only serve to slow down the gameplay of Halo. Which is an Arcade/Arena shooter title, not a Realism/Warfare one.

Mech: No. Spartans are already in Mjolnir Armor. And mechs just aren’t a Halo thing, they should stay in Animes and mech games where they belong.

Dual Wield: MAYBE. So long as DW weapons are more like 70% weapons than 50%. Otherwise what’s the point of DW when you could just hold one weapon and it will be just as good.

Dual Swords: No. It’s pointless, seriously.

Dynamic Story: No. The story of Halo is a single canon plot, giving the player the ability to customize the turnout of the game doesn’t work. I do believe in Dynamic missions though, allowing players to free roam large spaces and accomplish several of the mission’s objectives in any order. Not all of them, but some of them should be optional/free roam.

Weapon/Vehicle mods: No. Halo doesn’t need it, all it would do is further confuse the balance between weapons, which has been messed up ever since Halo 2.

Vs Rebels: No. This is supposed to take place long after Halo 3. The insurrectionists are likely either still in hiding, or have merged with the UN government.

Shields?: Confused as to what you mean.

Free Roam: Yes. As mentioned before.

Space Combat: No. Unnecessary, Sabres sucked and it’s not Halo gameplay.

RTS Space Combat: Not in Halo 4. But in a future game sure.

Dynamic Scenery: YES YES YES YES YES.

MC Life details: No. Unnecessary, read Fall of Reach if you want backstory. Keep the plot in the here-and-now.

“Hog Runs” or the like: Yes. I like the idea of actual danger. When there is a bomb on Cairo Station, or Crow’s Nest was set to explode, you didn’t have any reason to hurry. We should be given that need to get out.

Halo Wars 2: Yes. But don’t put both space and land combat in. Focus on ground combat. Space Combat should be it’s own series.

ODST 2: Yes. And it should follow the same squad, and take place after ODST. Have them continue to assist the Elites against Covenant Loyalists or something.

I’d like a Halo-era equivalent of iron sights, because seriously, what military wouldn’t equip its soldies with standard-type sights? UNSC Marines seem to rely on spray-and-pray, which leaves no wonder as to why they always lose.

Iron Sights
No. We already have crosshairs, adding iron sights would just complicate gameplay without really adding anything. Iron sights work in FPS games with super fast kill times, but implementing them to a game like Halo wouldn’t make sensen neither from gameplay perpective nor from canon perspective.

A Mech as vehicle
I’m a bit neutral on this one. Sure, it could be cool, but 1) Does it really fit to Halo? 2) Would it fit to gameplay of Halo? I don’t know answer to neither of those questions.

Dual Weapons in Again
I really have nothing against them unless they’re powered correctly without throwing off the balance of sandbox. It could also be possible that they are not powerful enough and become as a useless addition that no one almost never uses, a bit like what happened in Halo 3.

Dual Particle Swords
Definitely no. As cool as it sounds, dual swords would be overpowered in close quarters because they would have twice the ammo and twice the speed.

Dynamic Story Line
I didn’t exactly get what this means, I have never played Bioshock. Do you mean that different choices would affect the story line? But even though I’m not exactly sure what that means, I probably have nothing against it.

Modifiable Weapons and/or Vehicles
No, they wouldn’t fit to Halo as mostly the modifications would either be overpowered or unnecessary. They would break the sandbox balance and this way make players who have played for a while have an advantage over new players.

Fighting VS Humans/Rebells as MC
No, Halo has always been a game where you don’t kill humans other than your friendly NPCs. Even on the Arbiter missions you never killed humans even though you had the same objective as them. Fighting humans would make the game darker in some sense and would ruin the Halo feel.

Areas without regenerating shields and maybe collectable shield loader
I really don’t have anything against this, but it really wouldn’t fit to campaign. I’d be mcuh more willing to have a level, or a part of a level in the game where every 1-2 minutes an EMP comes and disables your shields and vehicles. Your objective of course, would be to shut down the place where those EMPs originate.

Free Roaming Areas
While ODST was fun, I really don’t see this fit to Halo 4 unless the game would be concentrated on a small area which is something I wouldn’t like to see. But I have nothing against level with more open design and maybe the ability to choose between objectives like you could do with the first level of Halo CE with rescuing the marines.

Space Combat with Fighters
It was pretty nice in Reach, but unless we get a good reason for that, no. I don’t want it to be forced just for the sake of adding it.

Space Combat with Battleships
Again, if it made sense, I wouldn’t have anything against it. Actually, I’d be willing to blow few ships with a MAC gun, something I have wanted to do since I first saw them being used in Halo 2.

More Dynamic Levels
Of course a Halo level should always have great views, but what you mean by more dynamic? If it’s not anything more than the looks, I’m all for it. If you mean something like accomplishing different objectives or accomplishing objectives in different order, I have nothing against it.

More Details over MC Life
Hard to say, in my opinion it’s coverd enough in the books. If you want to know about his life, buy a book and read. I don’t could this even fit to the story well.

Run-Away Areas with Countdown-Timer
Only if done right like the CE timer. I have nothing against a Warthog run

A Halo Wars 2
If made well, I don’t see why not.

Halo ODST-2
Again, if it was as good expansion as ODST was, I have nothing against it. Although I’d rather not play on the invasion of Reach. Maybe something after the Human Covenant war?

Yes to a Halo Wars 2, though I’d like to see it done better, perhaps more like Age of Mythology. I’d be fine with a battleship combat mode if they do it right. IMO they would have to do it on space maps where your base is a space station and your basic units are different fighters. You’d then have strict limits on the larger battleships, of which there would be a few different kinds. You could only have one of the strongest ships at a time, similar to the Titans in AoM Titans.

ODST 2 should definitely be done. I would prefer it to be set somewhere other than Reach, explore a battle we haven’t seen in game. I’d rather see different ODSTs but maybe one or two from he first game could be present in some form. I don’t care if the playable character is silent or not, just as long as he’s likable. If by “FPS guy” you mean the cutscenes are done in first person then no. I would also like to see an ODST style game where we play as a Spartan 3 in SPI armor.
