Your Opinion on the Flood in Halo 4

What is your opinion on the Flood in the past Halo games?

Do you think the Flood would be a good or bad addition to Halo 4?

Personally, I love diversity in enemies, so I loved the Flood in previous Halo games. It gave me a break from the Covenant and it provided a very interesting plot twist to the game.

What do you think?

I think that the Flood work in some instances, but fall flat on their face in others. I preferred them as mindless hordes of zombies with slight variations in strengths and weaknesses, like in the fist Halo, but they quickly became stale for me in later games as they seemed more coordinated and organized. So, if 343 brings them back as mindless zombies, I’ll be happy. If they make them too “smart”, though (e.g. the frigging flood snipers in Halo 3… God I hated those things SO MUCH), I’ll be annoyed. Actually, get rid of pure forms altogether, because they were a stupid enemy idea in the first place.
Oh, and another thing; 343i shouldn’t make flood enemies arbitrarily weaker to some weapons over others. If you plant a flamethrower in a flood level, I’m going to assume that it does a lot of damage against flood, otherwise you just put it there to screw with me. In Halo 3, the flamethrower only seemed lethal to pure forms and took awhile to burn combat forms. This made it a dice throw whenever I fired the weapon. I could score an instant kill, or I could get mauled by a flaming zombie. I understand the logic behind it, sort of, but it’s still a stupid idea, so it shouldn’t be approached that way.

tl;dr: if 343 industries is going to incorporate the Flood into Halo 4, they should make them like the flood in Halo: CE, and ignore all of the other games.

I agree, I prefer them as a mindless horde of zombies as well, with some danger and difficulty of course.

Pure form tanks are easy to kill with Hammer and Sword (even on Legendary it’s One hit kill). Snipers are annoying though >.< If you have a good aim, stickie nades and spikes kill them fast.

No doubt however, the Flood will return. There are still Halo rings out there and who’s to say they can’t come from somewhere else? IIRC, Halo wars had an Elephant focused mission that had Flood and it was one some planet and not a Forerunner installation.

I am fairly sure that the Precursors screwed over the Forunner by sending the flood to our galaxy, so I do not think the flood will be the main enemy. I think the Precursors will be the main enemy, but i bet they bring the flood, just to be -Yoinks!-.

I’m kinda hoping the flood stay out of this one.
Kinda bored of fighting the flood.

Since vvhen is a shield vvorld not made by the forerunners?
It vvas on the outer surface of a forerunner shield vvorld and thus a forerunner installation.

Anyvvay, I found the flood more interesting as a compound mind then mindless drones. They have a purpose and a damn mind blovving one.
IMO hate on ranged forms is a really bad reason for making them mindless drones.
Do vve really vvant the Flood to become ordinary zombies? Hell vve can rename them the Tvirus already.

and the shield world were didacts idea, the builder nearly had them destroyed but luckily for didact he could not.

Oh right, it was a shield world >.< I haven’t touched Wars since…well frankly almost year sooo yeah…i stand corrected.

A diversity in enemies is good, but I’m not so sure of the flood. If they can make them fun to fight, I’ll be all for it, but as they were in Halo 3, they were more an annoyance than a fun thing to fight.

In my opinion the flood are amazing as a story mechanic but are kinda lackluster as a gameplay mechanic. I hope that they change how you fight them and 343 could have an excuse. Because the flood aren’t from this galaxy they could come from their home galaxy again but now more evolved.

The presence of the Flood in Halo 4/ The Reclaimer Trilogy all depends on if it makes sense that they would be on the Forerunner installation. As in: Don’t just throw them in for the sake of having the Flood in the game. (Much like how people complained that there wasn’t any Flood in Halo: Reach. It wouldn’t make sense in the campaign.)I doubt we’ve seen the last of the Flood, but having them in the game for the sake of having them in takes more away from the game than adds to it.

Well if I were heading to a forerunner planet myself…yeah, I have a feeling that the flood will likely be there. Maybe…maybe not. Just need to find out and see over time.

If the Precursors were the main enemy, we’d never kill a single one of them. They’re too powerful, border line gods.

Now if we had the Prmiordial–the last living Precursor–leading an army of True Flood (the Flood at their fullest power) we’d have an interesting game. The Flood’s biology allows them to do anything they want, and create any creature they need for any task. They are the perfect enemy.

Although the Precursor were known for making living machines.

So why not part machine part living beings.
Like mechanical parts attached with organic flesh, nothing too gross but something interesting.

If there are floods i hope for the love of good there will be a huge variety of them, who are more complicated enemies.

I liked seeing the Flood in previous Halo games, but I only want it in the new trilogy if it fits with canon.

NO. NO MORE FLOOD. I AM SICK OF FIGHTING WALKING POOS WITH GUNS CONTROLLED BY A BIG POO UNDER THE OCEAN.

No more feces. No more flood. If you want mindless hordes that just run straight at you, go play zombie games, there are plenty of them.

No more garbage flood.

Yes I hope the flood do return for Halo 4.

I dont underI don’t understand why you guys find the flood annoying to fight is it their whip arm ? the way they sound or jump ? or just the concept of them ? I want to be able to play as the flood for atleast fire fight, forge, custom games, infection ans MAYBE match making. I really like the flood and think they should be in the halo 4 game weather in campaign or multiplayer. I just want to play as them and hope they play similarly to the spartans and elites of halo 3 unless playing infection of fire fight. As seen in halo 2 the can use any thing a spartan can and as seen in halo 3 can also have a shield. Also I would want to customize them like you can in halo 3 like you can with spartans and elites.

thank you

I 100% agree. Or if the flood are going to be in the game, reduce their role in the campaign.
