I just spent the whole morning playing the Maj. map pack. There were some games that were extremely fun, and a lot of games that I had a hard time keeping my cool.
Most of my comments are directed towards the free-for-all portion of this map pack.
First there are way too many ordnance weapons to start and they spawn way too frequently. When you add in the “Infinity” part then you are left with everyone wielding some sort of power weapon where it’s either a rocket launcher, sticky detonator, beam rifle, or shotgun. It is my proposal that you do the following:
Reduce the ammo in the original ordnance drops by half
increase the spawn time by 30-60 seconds.
I would also hope that you will remove JIP from the pro and infinity free-for-all games. Because of the massive amount of power weapons, no matter how late you start you are at an immediate disadvantage, because everyone has already picked up the ordnance weapons on the map or they have their own that they called in. It compares to joining a COD match when the other team has reapers and helicopters in the air.
Let’s see if we can get more votes to see what everyone really thinks. Right now it looks like people think they just spawn to frequently or personal should just be removed.
See I’m torn, because I like personal ordnance. It’s kind of fun when you get four or five kills in a row and then you have an option to receive your very own power weapon, but it also doesn’t become that special when everyone else can just pickup their own ordnance drop by just camping out the rocket spawn.
That’s why I think they should keep personal ordnance, but they should reduce the ammo in them as well as reduce the ammo in the other random ordnance drops.
While these maps are amazing I don’t enjoy playing them. I used to be one of the top players in Halo MM but for now, I die all the time, mostly because of power weapons… There are too many power weapons on maps at the same time…
I’d have liked to see a poll option for “remove personal ord and decrease amount of on map ord and increase spawn time for them as well.”
As others have stated, these maps are a lot of fun in the first 1-3 minutes of play. Then it becomes a power weapon fest. These maps are just to small to support all the power weapons on map AND personal ord at the same time too.
Monolith is really the only map I have a problem with when it comes to weapon spawns. 2 bean rifles, a rocket launcher, 2 needlers and a shotgun is WAY to much. It should only be one of each.
I love these maps, they’re awesome, but the weapon spawns are a little much on monolith. I hope they change them. Two sniper spawns on start in such a small map is just crazy. lol
OTOH I love the fact that I can use the carbine or an AR and not feel overwhelmed by DMR fire. These maps are awesome!
And I also think that Monolith and Skyline are even TOO small for 8 player FFA. It is just chaos. When you are encountering an enemy, you can be sure that somebody is shooting you at the same time.
I agree, Skyline is a bit to small for 4v4 and 8 player FFA. It’s pretty much just about right for 2v2 though. Also, that map also has a lot of ord on map too. If I remember this right it’s 2 sticky dets, 2 swords, 1 shotty and 2 needlers.
Starting ord on Monolith is a huge amount as well. That map can work for 4v4 it just needs to have a lot of the on map ord removed. Have one piece per side and rockets in the middle, or a Saw.
It would also help to have set loadouts for these maps too, but that’s a whole different conversation.
I love that beam rifle appears on monolith but the rockets are never ending, if someone with ammo gets them they respawn by the time he’s half out.
Same deal on landfall. Landfalls pretty cool but the garage building… Some people just won’t leave it, first game I walked the outside twice without so much as spotting someone, then I entered the garage and 4 -Yoinks!- jump up from crouching, people need to stop playing hide and -Yoinking!- seek, that’s why flood snipers and swat have thier own lists
The stickydet is there on Skyline for about every other spawn I played yesterday. Fine with me bc I don’t have the commendation yet, but certainly spawns too often.
Landfall ordinance such as shotty is too close to a game start spawn… like 3 feet close.
Great maps though. Had a lot of fun yesterday in FFA.
I played Monolith a number of times and have found that the rockets spawn way too often. My team last by 3 points one match and one person on the other team had 7 kills with rockets.
Add on the needlers and the beam rifles and I really feel like there are too many power weapon spawns on these new maps.
I completely agree. They spawn too frequently, have too much ammo, and personal ordinance on top of that makes it all the dumber. They made beautiful small maps, they just don’t know how to balance the gameplay for them.

What confuses me is in forge it says they never respawn, but in actual gameplay they spawn frequently.

You are able to select more than one option in the poll.
These are all some good thoughts. The poll boosted votes over night which was good to see.
I feel like all of the maps are pretty bad with the amount of ordnance drops that appear. On Landfall you have hammers, shotguns, rocket launchers and concussion rifles that all spawn during the game. Monolith has rockets spawning every time I spawn it seems like, and Skyline, in accordance with horrible spawning on FFA, has shotguns and sticky dets everywhere. Add that with personal ordnance and it’s hard to map out a strategy, because you never know if the red dot you’re coming towards has a shotgun or rocket launcher to own you with.

LOL. So getting a few paltry assists to ‘earn’ you a binary rifle warrants you that power weapon far more than fending off 4 players from the rocket spawn?
Still, rockets spawn like every 60 seconds on these maps it’s dumb, and the only reason it isn’t fought over often is because there are tonnes of other power weapons spawning anyway.

I’m mostly talking about FFA, and you’re not going to go for only assists in FFA so I’m fine with people getting personal ordnance for getting 11 assists (or whatever it is) and 0 kills.

They have assist medals in FFA? And the points contribute to ordnance? LOL. I never knew.
But seriously, it is pretty bad in Majestic Team Slayer, much more of a clusterf**k than Infinity Slayer is, which is surprisingly possible it seems.
