thought everyone would like sharing their HOLY SH*T moments from reach, we always get some moments where we just… don’t really know how what happened or how it did.
I’ll start off I guess. Was standing on the spire as my rocket launcher was locking on to an enemy falcon, due to me doing pretty well at the time I also had a fuel rod cannon with a lot of ammo spare on it, so was being very cautious to survive, using active camo and such to stay undetected and taking the enemy by surprise.
Suddenly I get damaged from behind as some concussion rifle knocks me off the edge of the spire. I sigh in frustration and look down at the ground towards my impending doom. Seeing as I had a rocket launcher I fired it in frustration at the ground just before I impacted it, determined to commit suicide rather than let the enemy get the kill.
And… I survived. I lost my shields and went down to minimum health but… I survived. I can only guess the pushing effect from the rocket blast saved me from falling? I was overjoyed and went on to get a 17 kill streak ^^ God knows how lucky I was. To shoot so that the rocket doesn’t kill me but neither does the fall damage.
Well, The first time cat drove me off the cliff was pretty shocking…

after the other Halo games you don’t expect that when Bungie finally gives you a Rocket hog they put the worst driver ever behind the wheel, forcing you to always drive and let the marine have all the fun !
For me, it was in invasion slayer.
I was standing under the reinforcements spawn point, waiting for the supplies to drop, and a wraith landed on me and I went flying out of the map.
Launch week, BTB on Hemorrhage. Was driving a Ghost heading from the beach spawn towards the Plasma Launcher. A Warthog drives in front of me, teleports back, and next thing I know I am in the air, flying into the “Alaska” zone. In fact, I don’t know if I died from the impact, or from the “Return to map” counter hitting zero, as both happened at once. Lag is a -Yoink-, amirite?
I once got a lag fail from standing on top of a warthog (it was assault and the hog was full so I stood on top to provide support, was in a silly mood), the hog was lagging a little until suddenly it flew across the map at a million miles an hour, before colliding with a couple of people and exploding, giving the driver a triple kill!
I had a great one last night. On Hemmorage i managed to perform a full front flip in a Wraith while boosting over the small hill in front of Red teams base and land back upright. The boys from Crusty Demons would of been proud.
I was playing slayer DMR’s and halfway during the match I got assassinated but it glitched and I showstopped the guy assassinationg me. It was so weird I had to render it.
Having a 31/0 rampage on BTB (first game Id played of Reach in 6 months), 30 seconds before the game ended, got a glitched speed-o-light ghost fly into me and ruin my perfection.
Another funny moment of mine:
The map was boardwalk. The game was lagging badly and I saw an enemy player walking up the stairs to the visitor center, and I followed him. I got close enough to smash the B button, and suddenly it was ME who was being assassinated! However, about a second later, the game gave me a showstopper medal AND an assassination medal, and I walked away with not a dent in my shield.
Last night, I was playing Team BTB Heavies on Cragmire (spire variant), and I swear, I was being assassinated, then I somehow BLOCKED it, and assassinated the guy! I don’t know if it was a glitch, or lag but I felt awesome. Right before I was splattered. Then everything was normal again.
Was playing Oni Sword Base campaign. After just leaving the base doors, I was using the Laser Designated Airstrike gun to lock onto the Wraith. All lined up, pull the trigger to lock it in and then BOOM, all the marines are dead and so am I.
After replaying the footage (too bad H4 can’t do this for Spartan Ops or Campaign), it turns out just before I “locked” onto the wraith, a marine stepped in front of me and it locked onto him.
Also, the number of times that Kat has killed me (driving off a cliff, running me over, shooting me with a Rocket Hog etc.) I think is higher than the Covenant kills are.
Driving in Asphalt with a Wraith with no one around only to die by… the wraith randomly suiciding. Also happens with someone bashing the crap out of your vehicle then your Spartan magically dying at Point A when the vehicle was getting pummeled at Point B. I don’t know WHY the covenant decided to add that Hyperspace button (Almost as bad as the marine artillery targeting this sudden new target right in front of you. “We’ll prioritize whatever you need” does that include more dead UNSC?!)
