Your first impression when seeing Halo 5 gameplay

What was yours? Mine was “WTF is this garbage?? 343… r u serious???”.
yeah…

Mine was, “Oh hey, I’m so glad it’s a lot more balanced than Halo 4. Nice graphics as well. I look forward to the beta with an open mind.”

I sighed, dissatisfied and let down, and closed the tab.

I’ll play the Beta but I’m not even going to bother buying it.

I’d certainly hope that you wouldn’t pay for a beta.

Sort of already did by purchasing the MCC. :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah, to clarify I won’t be buying the official release. I’ll just watch walkthrough gameplay videos of Halo 5 on YouTube to see how its story plays out.

Why make us look like cocky -Yoinks!- if we win?

I agree!!!

The “sup bro?” stance with the arms out? The slow “we bad” hand slaps … pretty corny.

Personally, I’m hoping it will be like GTA V where we get to pick our gestures. Mine would just stand there and be stoic … like a Spartan. But again, they were interacting with each other, so that’s probably just a pipe-dream.

Anyway, on topic: I was anxious about the aiming mechanic at first, but upon seeing the different control schemes and realizing it’s the same as before just with the guns animated puts me at ease. I also kinda like being able to zoom the AR a bit.

Ground pound looks silly. But I think it’s one of those things I’m going to have to try first.

I like the sprint-repercussion … it seems interesting. Those who’ve got to play it at Halo Fest says it works decently.

Overall, I’m excited for it. But again, I was never delusional enough to think we were just going to get a re-skinned Halo 2 … they already gave us that.

I agree, I was thinking “since when did spartans act like gangsters” lol this… with the auto callouts, ledge grabs, and this posing -Yoink-… this game looks like its for kids/noobs.

My reaction:
“Oh my God, they finally did it… they found a way to sell CoD in a Halo skin… Oh the humanity!”
But I’ve determined to give it a shot before condemning it for all eternity

Well a lot of the ODST have ego problems I can only see that being amplified as Spartans tbh. But jalo 4 had multiple choices for stances one would hope it’s the same for the game winning gestures. Time will tell for now tho what my Spartan does after a win or loss is the least of my worries lol

I thought “Finally something makes sense again, and i can work with”, and then I thought “Finally Halo Reach, and Halo 4 jet pack cancer can go away.”

“The whiny babies in the community are going to riot…”

It’s a shame people are willing to condemn it or say “i’ll just play the beta, nothing more”. It’s like they have already decided they aren’t going to like it without playing it. Pretty childish to do…but then again that is the Halo community for ya

It didn’t leave a strong impression.

I guess my first impression was that it is exactly what I was expecting; a half-way compromise and improvement over Halo 4, yet not otherwise outstanding.

I’ll see how the game unfolds, as we still have yet to see all seven beta maps and all sandbox additions.

“Why do people dislike the things that I like? Those jerks.”

I get so damn tired of hearing this tossed around.

Personally I was excited when I saw the first game play but I also knew there was going to be plethora of people screaming on the forums that halo 5 isn’t the same as halo 2/3. I just don’t understand why people want the same game over and over again, we have CoD for that very purpose (the exact same game re-skinned at least once per year).

May wanna brush up on your reading comprehension and not misinterpret things… Never said I like it in that post, though I do like what I have seen. As for the whiny babies, they did and it was pretty pathetic. Doesn’t have to do with anything concerning “disliking what I like”. Logic is something lacking in these forums

I felt concern at first, but then I was happy about equal starts and in general Halo coming back to arena fundamentals. I think people are being quite superficial with the smart scope and the abilities. You got no mention of ordinance drops, the ADS is the for the visual flair-no improved accuracy or any other mechanic with ADS-, map control focused. I mean on the fundamental levels of Halo it seems to have it, just with an addition of these new abilities that everyone has.

Not going to lie, I found the first look at gameplay very hard to watch. Bland weapon looks and sounds, zoom on automatics, -Yoinking!- sprint…it just didn’t seem that enticing to me. I still feel the same.

Mine was essentially this:
“ok, faced paced, nobody spawning with plasma pistol and stickies, no ordinance. So far so good”
“What the -Yoink- is wrong with this scope? That better not hinder movement at all, or it’s a write-off” (happily proven wrong)
“OH LORD the shine is back. -Yoink- these shiny graphics.”
“Meh. I can deal with these things…”
And of course…
“SPRINT. -Yoinking!- SPRINT.”

After that I cried for about 3 hours.

Then I decided to look more thoroughly at the abilities and I’m not going to judge them until the beta. I’ve really got nothing to go on from previous games.

The Spartan chatter made me want to murder somebody. I want the ability to mute this.
In case your wondering, I’m part of the anti-dudebro Spartan crowd. Am I supposed to be putting myself in the position of my Spartan? Well I don’t listen to 5 Finger Death Punch while watching UFC. Neither should my Spartan.

I got a sinking feeling in my stomach when I saw that sort of ADS feature. Not because I didn’t like it but I was afraid of what other people would think and the hate did flow in. Even though it’s pretty much the same thing that’s been in the series for a while. I am glad to see more canonically correct SPARTANs and they look fun to play as. People -Yoinking!- about them acting like “bros” are annoying. The SPARTAN IVs are the most human out of the spartan generations excluding the ORION Project and I expect them to act like humans. They didn’t have the same um how do I say it “training” as the SPARTAN IIs and IIIs. All in all the game looks fun and it looks like Halo. People will disagree and rely on nostalgia but I’m going in with an open mind. See you guys in the beta and on the battlefield come Fall. Well for those who plan on getting the game.
