Halo CE on a friend’s original Xbox. Played through Halo 2 with him as well when that came out. When Halo 3 was announced, I bought my own 360 and copies of CE and 2.
I was like 4 with a bunch of my Dads friends. All playing split screen in like 2002… wild times looking back. Hope my kids can experience the same magic.
Halo Combat Evolved. I first played it when I was extremely young and at a friend’s house. After playing it for the first time, I was instantly hooked. I’d say I first started playing at around 2002/2003.
It became borderline obsession.
Even despite the ups and downs of the series, Halo is the one I’ve always returned to since then.

I am an old man so Halo CE in 2002 was my first Halo game.
I helped a buddy of mine in college move from his apartment to his new house that him and his new wife had bought, and after unpacking their moving truck he asked if I wanted to try out this new game on this new gaming system called an Xbox.
I had never heard of it nor had I heard of Halo.
So, this was around 4pm on a Saturday when we started playing Halo, and the next thing I know it is 2am in the morning and we had just completed the game on Legendary co-op.
I was so hooked on the experience and the game, that on my way home in the middle of the night I stopped at Wal-Mart and bought an Xbox and Halo CE. For the next 18 months until Xbox Live and Halo 2 came out, every other weekend all of us guys got together and did 4-Xbox LAN parties 8v8 big team battles while all our wives baked cookies or something at another house.
To this day I’ve never had more fun in my entire life.
I played Halo 3 back with my friend CrossyHawk in 2016 and I’ve been a fan ever since.
I think mine was either Halo CE or 2 but I played them when I was like 3 and couldn’t really grasp what was happening. Id say the one I really played was halo 3 but man oh man I wish it was 2 since that campaign was amazing!
I played the Halo CE demo, but didn’t really get hooked on Halo based off of it. I was a sports and platform gamer back then.
Then I got Halo 2 after I had seen the Halo 3 promos and pre-ordered based on the crazy adverts they dropped. I enjoyed my brief time with Halo 2, but I fell in love with Halo after playing H3.
My first Halo that I remember playing was ODST, one of my friends had a copy that he’d brought over from Mexico and it was deifnitely an experience, found it ten times funnier than I did when I returned to it on my own console a couple months later - managed to get it at a steep discount due to a mispriced copy at my local gamestore and laws in my country being “It costs what it’s displayed as”
My first halo is halo 2 
but my favorite will remain halo 3. 
Halo: CE. But I became a huge fan with Halo 2. I carried the guide book in my school backpack. Good times.

I was reading this thread, and was surprised that I hadn’t seen any one say Reach. Had to go back and look.
Seems like you’re the only one so far that got started on Reach.
All I’m saying is it’s surprising that more people didn’t start in the same era as Halo. 
Halo 3 and been addicted to Halo ever since.
I played Halo: CE first in 2002.
My first Halo was Halo 3, i eventually went back and played CE and 2 to help better understand the Halo story before playing 3 again, ever since then I’ve been a huge fan
First Halo I played was Halo: CE back in 2006. Still remember the very first mission I’ve played, it was Assault on the Control Room either at normal or easy difficulty, and the very first thing I killed was a grunt as soon as he exited the door at the start of the level.
Still remember hearing that grunt getting whacked on the face in that crispy CRT TV sound quality.
My first Halo game was Halo 3. Had a blast playing it with my older sister

Technically mine was Halo Reach in '10 before i had my live account, but I just say H4 since it was the first one i played consistently

I didn’t play Halo CE when it first came out but when my brothers and I got an xbox we played Halo CE first ( we were pretty bad at it lmao
