So, I am sure a lot of you are familiar with what a super turtle is. For those of you who don’t know, your basically sitting back, waiting for the other team to attack, fighting them off, and waiting for the next attack. There are many forms of super turtling, but the by far most popular form is holding the walls on fort deen. Others include glacial ravine, keeping 3 bases in one corner of frozen valley, and holding the outside border of exile. Super turtling is very fun imo.
Anyways, what I wanted to ask was what was everyone else’s favourite set-up for a super turtle?
Mine is induced of 2 Cutters, and a Brute Chiefy, on the map Fort Deen. The Chieftain aims to get 3 stars and be a straight up -Yoink!-, while covering all the air with a near full army of Vampires with 10 engineers to heal any damaged units, mostly the Chieftain though. The 2 cutters are responsible to split the duty of holding the walls on the map with ODST, both QuadMac’ing anything that moves, and getting a good cobra defence set up in the middle, and partially on the sides. They also both make a few wolverines, and some veteranized tanks as well.
Overall our set up works fairly well, and we usually keep people going for 2 hours before we go in for the kill. In one of our more recent games, we had three 12 star cobras stacked in the middle barrier, 1 shotting every grizzly they threw at us. It was pretty fun holding the opposing team at bay for 150 minutes. ^-^
I got left alone in a 2v2 party teams on terminal morraine as a 2v1 as my ally had to leave. So i bunkered up on one of the side bases over the bridge.
I was cutter so i had 10 ODST camp on the far side of the bridge to hamper movement of ground forces across the bridge, 5 Cobra’s set up on my side of the bridge, again blocking movement across, and i put the rest into wolverienes to keep banshees back. After 3 hours of fending off their attacks they eventually gave up and resigned. Irony is they actually took out my base once they just didn’t keep up the pressure to stop me from rebuilding. Their attacks were really uncordinated as by all rights they should have won as their Eco should have been at least 8x better than mine meaning they could have just spammed me to death, but instead they left me to rebuild after each wave of attacks as well as save up about 50k resourses during the interims.
@SOCK about Dean:
Have the Chief make at least 20 Engies and no more than 15 Vamps. The Bruity’s job can sometimes be the hardest because it’s much better to have Engineers split around the map. Also, have each of the Cutters get 5 Wolvies (maybe more depending on the combo) and 1 Elephant on each side with no less than 3 Flamers, but no more than 4-5 for Hunters. Trust me, the Elephant/Flamer thing works very well because of Flashbang and the Elephant is a soft counter to air after Defense Turret.
You really don’t need any Spartan Tanks unless they have two Covi leaders on the Ground or a Cutter. Only one of your Cutters should have the three STs and it’s better if you try to survive off of 2 STs than 3 (one more Spartan Cobra).
> Docks
Easy.
If anybody is curious about turtling or wants to know more about it, such as how to set it up or map/combo constraints, ask me. Here’s the list of turtable Teams maps from least to greatest difficulty (the previous terms have, in fact, been used before):
Keep in mind that these maps are all possible to turtle on successfully (aka. turtable)
3s
-Dean
-Glacial Ravine
-Exile
-Frozen
2s
-Docks
-Beasley’s
-Labyrinth
-*** Crevice *** This is mostly theoretical. But, I have an idea of how to turtle here and it would make this map easier than Repo, but harder than Laby.
-Repository
-Terminal Moraine
I can re-post a cumulative list of difficulty if anyone cares to see it.
As you can see, every Teams map is turtable except for Crevice and Memorial. If you think the map is not turtable, say so! And I’ll be sure to straighten that out.
Crevice isn’t that hard to turtle on. Just take the side bases and lock cobras down in the middle and the sides.

I would disagree with the way you turtle on Crevice. The reason your way is going to be the hardest of all the maps is because there is no choke point for ground units (only reason why Terminal works) and you are alone. You couldn’t survive for more than 45mins like this against a team that has any idea what they’re doing.
However, my idea was to turtle the back. Run Covi/Cutter, double Cutter, or Anders/Cutter and turtle your expos while holding down your spawn bases, since you won’t be able to control them. With an Elephant, you can get Reactor hooks at any time.
Covi/Cutter – The hardest
Covi takes the base close to the middle and gets a Shield. He’ll put 2 Jackals in the cover and mass Vamps/Engies. Cutter will go crazy on the Cobras and will not have any Spartan Tanks.
Double Cutter or Anders/Cutter – Easiest
Build Elephants and SCs to clog the two choke sides and mass Cobras pointing towards the middle. No less than 8 Wolverines with all anti-air Turrets. Try not to build more than 2 STs. If Anders, build 2-3 Gremlins.
Constraints:
No Arbiters, no Cutters
I was able to pull off my turtle twice in ua 2s twice. You put cobras on the opposite side of the side bases so your base protects them. As for the center only a few tanks can get through at a time. Although…your idea does sound good. I’ll have to give it a try and I’ll let you know if I can pull it off
