Your favorite thing about Halo 4

I like the Spartan OPS and infection. Playing Action Sack type games are fun. Campaign and multiplayer aren’t good. While I hated this game at launch, I have grown to appreciate it. It may not be my favorite but it is a decent fps. The weapons sounds are amazing (besides the br). I give it a 6.6 out of 10. What is your favorite thing about Halo 4?

I feel like Halo 4 is a step back in the right direction. I found Reach to be one of the most frustrating games I have ever played. I am not a health pack fan, nor did I enjoy many of the weapons in the game. Halo 3 was the prime of Halo, but Halo 4 is in the same realm.

Specifically, I like that sprinting is always an option. I like that you can choose certain loadout perks that can set you apart from opponents, but that can also be counterbalanced. This sorta goes along with the Naruto concept that you should stick to your strengths. For example, I am not a skilled sniper. I can do okay with it, but when I know other players can consistently get one shot kills, then I damage the team if I pick up the weapon and they are around to use it. I am quite good at supporting flanks and killing vehicles. For this reason, I find it satisfying to be able to load up my player to benefit my play style, while other players can do the same. It makes for a more diverse playing experience, and even adds replay value by challenging me to try other loadouts if I get bored or frustrated with my favorites.

i liked spartan ops and customizable loadouts

My favorite thing would be that you are able to run instead of walking every were like in Halo 3

I wanted to add that I do think the multiplayer is quite good, but it is a very different feel from the other halo multiplayers. I was not a big fan of the Reach shifts. I actually went back and played some matches on Halo 3, Reach and Halo 4. I found myself constantly frustrated playing Reach. It felt dark, lonely, and tense. I recall feeling similarly when I played through the campaign, which I think means that I don’t like artistic changes that take place in that game. It didn’t feel as heroic.

Now, I am a huge Batman fan. I love how his vigilante justice matches with Gotham’s darkness and dreariness. I do NOT think that matches up with Master Chief. He is the bright light. The spark of hope. I know chief isn’t featured in Reach. I know that Reach is falling during the campaign. I understand that the game matches that mood well. Despite knowing these things, I still don’t like it.

Halo 3 was like a breath of fresh air. Halo 4 has been growing stagnant for a while with the community choosing to play the same maps (Ragnarok) all of the time and no options for the DLC to be included. Two of the maps ALWAYS lag me out of any competitive state (can’t remember their names) and the game feels like Groundhog Day where I keep doing the same things over and over because most people don’t want to move as a team, making it my job to try to hold down critical map areas with little support. (This usually involves getting demolished by Banshees and Incineration Cannons.) Anyway, Halo 3 was super fun to return to. While I certainly felt like a child as I tried to retrain my muscle memory to bash with B and reload with RB, I found myself laughing about it. I enjoyed the tightness of the maps and being able to only worry about map conditions rather than some annoying jet pack pest falling in on my head. I liked knowing that my opponents would most likely be carrying the starting weapons as me, and that it would come down to skill more than it would to who had the most timely ordinance drop.

I like Halo 4. I think it is a fun game with some bright spots. I am not saying that it was a great Halo game. I just think it is a great game in general. (Basically I would call it the thing that COD has been trying to find in all of its efforts.) Still, I would rank Halo 2 or 3 well above it because they are Halo at its finest and would rank Reach below that because it feels like a 1980s Frank Miller depression Batman series, rather than the Golden Age of the 30s, 40s, and 50s.

the custom loadout system

I loved the story and the more relatable Master Chief. Plus the Didact was awesome as a villain, and wish they would’ve used him in Halo 5.

Big Team Battle is exceptional in Halo 4, I’d have to say that. Surprised you didn’t like campaign.

I wish you actually fought the Didact instead of taking him out in a QTE cutscene. Most disappointing moment of Halo 4 for me.

I like Halo’s tactical pace but I dislike the monotony of using the same weapons over and over. I like making custom loadouts in other shooter games, but games like that are usually twitch shooters where the winner just boils down to whoever can spot the other first. Halo 4 has the best of both worlds in terms of what I like in a shooter game.

Absolutely this. The campaign really gave our heroes a lot of depth, helping us understand their motivations throughout the series.
