Hey.
Wassup. This thread, I hope, will help tell 343 why many people are complaining.
First of all, let me just say that it is at this point in the thread where the 10 year old kids who just shriek and shout will differentiate from those players who actually want to help improve the game, and will do it in a mature way.
Because, quite frankly, the 10 year old kids can only shout “IF THE GAME ISN"T SATISFACTORY NOBODY PLAIZ Y U SO SILLY”.
But the mature players would try to break it down. So, yeah, lets break it down!
To start off, I will split it into two halves. In-Game satisfaction, and Out-of-game Satisfaction, in-game meaning while controlling a Spartan, and out-of-game being, say, while you’re in the menu, or forging, or watching in theater, etc.
So, lets start off with some, in-game satisfaction, shall we?
-
Boltshot. How satisfying is it to die from a person who has a pocket shotgun?..It isn’t. I remember a TS game I played yesterday where the entire enemy team had ToD’s of the Boltshot. This should not be happening: I am, along with many other players, unsatisfied by how powerful this secondary is. Our reasons may vary, but in the end we don’t like it. (For those asking, I don’t like it because there really isn’t a point to use close combat weapons or go in for the pummel if we can charge up and walk it. I don’t like it when the enemy’s ToD is the Boltshot,)

Active Camo. So tell me, 343. You created Ordnance drops, and put boosts in it. Exactly, why, did you put Active Camo as an AA instead of a boost? I mean, you put overshield as a boost. Why not active camo? Confusing, and annoying, especially since people can use AA without showing up as tons of blue dots on radar. (And then they glitched the glitch by having 1 blue dot show up when the camo user moves a bit. 1. Bravo, 343, you broke a glitch with another glitch, first time in video game history) Active Camo does not make my experience satisfactory.

Ordnance. Is it broken? No. Is it highly stupid? Yes. I’ve said this countless times before: Good players should get the better weapons. Bad players should not. So why can bad players get lucky and get binary rifles and incineration cannons while good players might get unlucky with needlers and frags? There really shouldn’t be any reason the bad players get it. And how can you fix it? A playlist with timed weapons. Yes, Infinity Slayer can be the playlist all the noobs go to, but MLG being gone, we need a playlist with classic settings (I don’t even care if you have custom loadouts; Just give us timed weapons). Good players don’t feel satisfied when they get a damn needler, and it’s the good players that 343 should cater to, not the players of Call of Duty and Battlefield.

Spartan Ops gameplay is just bad humor (Yes, I said it. IT IS BAD. I am disappoint) laced with boring ‘click button and fight enemy’ styles of gameplay. Many things can improve this, but I’ll just say my idea, which will never happen: Massive, massive maps (Campaign sized, sandbox style) and objectives you can choose to not complete, random enemies, and exploration allowed. Tadah. It’s why CoD zombies is awesome and Spartan Ops is crap compared to it. Many people feel Spartan Ops to be unsatisfactory.
-
Campaign: Graphics were awesome. Music? I miss the Reach beats, ODST jazz and original trilogy main theme. Too many plotholes left unfilled, which makes a ‘at first glance’ awesome campaign feel very, very amateur in the eyes of those who actually delve into lore, or like to glitch around and explore. To them, it’s unsatisfactory.
-
DMR: Self explanatory. What the heck is the point of creating 1 gun statistically better than the rest? CoD may have 10 assault rifles in 1 game, but each of them statistically are unique and create a fun experience for a person to actually try to develop. In this game using the Carbine and BR against the DMR is useless, and I feel like the LR’-Yoink!- detection is just a bunch of feces. I don’t feel satisfied that 1 gun can beat all the rest.
Those are the smaller, but major, issues.
So, how about out of game satisfaction?
-
Lack of playlists: Very, VERY self explanatory. People are unsatisfied T_Snipers left. People are unsatisfied that KOTH left. People are unsatisfied that CTF, KOTH, Oddball aren’t together. People are unsatisfied Grifball isn’t here. People are unsatisfied that Assault is gone.
-
Flood. Reach had this playlist as the most populated, all the time. Halo 3 had it the most populated during 2XP, rivaled only by Grifball. Halo 4 has Flood, a mediocre copy that doesn’t work at all in Custom Games, and is severly unbalanced online. Who on earth would be satisfied by this?
-
Lack of Elites. Again, self explanatory. If you seriously can’t wrap your mind around why it’s unsatisfactory, visit the thread that has about 300 pages of people unsatisfied about it.
-
Competitive Community: Lack of Rank that represents skill, lack of MLG, -Yoink!- Gaming’s crap tournaments that don’t need people to play to rise in rank (Yes it has happened).
-
Hackers. ukno dat headless SWAT glitch? Yeah.
-
Customs community: Again, visit the megathread of people angry at 343 about the lack of custom game options if you don’t know why it’s unsatisfactory.
-
Forgers: Precision editing and Zoom. Lack of real Forge Worlds. Not hard to figure out why they don’t like it.
-
Machinima makers: Lack of theater in SO and Campaign. Clunky theater in multiplayer with the Announcer always talking. Overall an unsatisfactory expereince.
And all that is a combination of things I heard and feel are important. No doubt there are tons more unsatisfactory experiences in this game, and, going back to the 10 year olds point of view, ‘ONLY SATISFACTORY GAMES HAVE LOTS OF PLAYERS WHO LIKEZ IT’.
But, the worse thing? The most unsatisfactory thing that people face?
343 hasn’t listened or responded, to ANYTHING in the above I said. They’ve just ignorantly brushed us off, and whether or not it’s Microsoft’s fault, 343 is responsible for this game, and they’d better stick up for their responsibility, instead of stick up their finger glaring at us, the community.
Rant over.
