Here’s mine, it will never happen but maybe 1 or 2 things will be made reality.

  1. Active camo reverted back to halo:reach type radar scrambling (red dots). It’s easier to tell where the camo person was and harder to track others while using it so it’s not as blatantly abused.

  2. DMR auto aim at a distance tweaked to be in line with other long range weapons. Maximum rate of fire nerfed slightly. (250-400ms difference)

  3. Thruster pack no longer pans out into 3rd person. Now more similar to evade from halo: reach

  4. Boltshot charged blast range has been reduced significantly. Now just outside of melee range, making it a wide spread but very short range shotgun.

  5. Invasion gametype brought back

  6. Ordnance drop power weapons limited. No rockets, snipers, or shotguns.

  7. Weapon spawns are once again set spawns

I think if these changes were implemented I’d be a lot less frustrated with the game right now. Honestly though I feel 343’s biggest mistake is in allowing everyone to start with a long range weapon (DMR, BR, Carbine). It’s made maps like complex and ragnarok complete camp fests, with everyone picking eachother off from across the map. It has also removed the frequency of intense close quarter assault rifle battles and tactics, something I loved. It’s also encouraged active camo abuse. It’s frighteningly easy to abuse it on these maps.

DMR kill time reduced to either match BR or be .02 sec slower than BR. No need to adjust aim features, those are needed for long range shooting. Main goal is to make it slow enough that at close range, it will be viable but not an easy win against close range primary rifles.similar kill time to BR but lacking the slowdown/stopping power of BR

  1. Bring back bloom on DMR from Reach (this stopped the spammers dead in their tracks and made them look like fools).

  2. Descoping brought back into play.

  3. Boltshot range reduced as the OP stated. I like your thought process behind it, increase spread but decrease maximum effective range.

  4. Like OP stated: Fix active camo. Tired of people abusing it just because of the glitch.

  5. Fileshare up and working.

  6. Forge Maps thrown into the mix since the other maps suck (even DLC ones).

  7. FIX THE LAG! Tired of the player count being at 50k and STILL, I have one laggy -Yoink- match after another. Reminds me of Future Soldier’s terrible netcoding.

So far those are my main things I want to see fixed first. If that can’t happen, yeahhhh… might be time to ditch Halo 4 and the franchise altogether.

I’d bump vehicle health and remove tracking from the plasma pistol.

Turn invisibility into an ordinance drop and make the AA a jammer.

Put a X on the map where your teammates die… this X on radar only is rubbish.

How would bloom help? That would only slow it down for long range but still keep it a spam fest at close range. That’s exactly the opposite of what it needs to be. It needs to have a slower rate of fire… That’s it.

Bloom was meant to encourage people to fire slower at long ranges and fire faster at close ranges… But in halo 4 we need a DMR that is more in the middle. It needs to be the opposite of a magnum.

Magnum = fast rate of fire, close range

DMR = slower rate of fire, 3x optical zoom for long range.

Adding bloom will make it an unreliable weapon at long range. Again, it needs to be effective at long range but be slow enough to lose at close range. Bloom is not the answer.

Concerning lag, not much could be done, 343 has nothing to do with lag. Best they could do is add regional search restrictions as options so you don’t have to play on a host that is overseas.

Apart from when it gave them lucky kills you mean? Playing against anyone other than complete idiots was a joke with Reach bloom.

My dream TU would be this

    • Halo 2 and 3 maps added into the roster
    • true halo playlists added permanently (team doubles, team snipers, lone wolves, rumble pit and multi team)
    • true skill rankings and ranked playlists

4.- DMR RoF nerf and clip lowered to have an equal kill per clip as the BR and boltshot 1sk range decrease

5.- bullet magnetism and aim assist lowered and made equal across all loadout weapons

6.- fix or remove the killcam

7.- either nerf the effectiveness of active camo and jetpack or buff the autosentry turret and thruster pack

8.- buff vehicles so they can take more punishment (not only have vehicles become a lot easier to destroy but it’s even easier to counteract vehicles seeing as we now can spawn with plasma grenades and plasma pistols.

9.- Either invest in dedicated servers, give us networking matchmaking options or match players up more sensibly in an effort to reduce the lag that seems to be quite commonplace in matches.

These fixes imo will make Halo 4 a brilliant title as it should have been.

Unfortunately, ranks will be limited to Waypoint as far as I know. Also, Team Doubles will be a rotational playlist. I don’t know what to expect in regards to the new map pack.

Actually I think it’s really easy to tell where they are. When they activate Camo, there is a small radius of radar scrambling (often the player is in the center). Regardless, I think Active Camo could use a nerf.

I completely agree. But I think that these should be added additionally:

10.- Weapons placed back on the map

11.- An MLG playlist or something to that effect. Basically, a competitve playlist with more gametypes than just slayer. It doesn’t have to be MLG or whatever, I would just like to be able to play competitively and not be limited to only playing slayer.

12.- Remove instant respawns because they ruin map balance/strategy.

13.- Teammates activity easily noticed (Orange for being shot, red X for dead, yellow for shooting). As it is now, the arrow above your teammates head just flashes a purpleish-blue color and doesnt indicate what is actually happening to your teammate. This feature is particularly important for teamwork and understanding what is happening if your teammates don’t have mics or something.

Glitches fixed/removed. Typically developers are well-aware of glitches and such.

BR made 4-shot, has its fire rate decreased to make it kill .1 seconds faster than DMR.

Carbine made 7 shot and its fire rate adjusted to have a kill time .1 seconds faster than BR.

Automatics buffed to have kill times .05 seconds faster than Carbine.

Scorpion removed from Exile, 1 Gauss added to red side. Or Scorpion remains: still add 1 Gauss to red side, adjust spawns to be equidistant from Scorpion & Banshee. Also turn red team’s mongoose to face tank side of map. No one is getting on a mongoose to rush banshee or storm across banshee bridge, they’re getting it to get to the tank faster.

Blue team spawn moved forward or up on Abandon.

Spawns on Haven turned 90 degrees so that teams start each on one of the symmetrical sides.

Shield Recharge delay dropped to 3 seconds, 4 seconds at most.

Options added to custom games. Can’t even list all of them because there are so few and they need so many more. You can’t adjust the king’s traits in Regicide, for example, which means there is no way to duplicate anything like Juggernaut.

Aim assist and/or bullet magnetism reduced on all weapons, also bring them in line. Long range weapons get longer aim-assist, for example, but no more than now.

Boltshot’s 1sk range reduced a tad, could potentially be accomplished with 90% damage. Scattershot’s 1sk range perhaps increased to be more consistent, the least it can be increased in custom options is 110%, that might be too high. 343 has more power to make fine adjustments.

Sword and Hammer removed from ordnance drops in BTB maps. They should never have been there.

Career K/D taken from slayer playlists only.

Reduce splash damage taken by vehicles. Direct hits continue to do normal damage, indirect hits should do less.

Buff the hog’s chaingun turret with a 10% or 20% damage boost. It needs something, can’t kill nearly fast enough as it is. You practically need a damage boost in an ordnance drop to make it worth trying.

Quit penalty of -3000 experience introduced for quitting a matchmade war games game. Experience penalty should be capable of dropping SR and re-locking unlocks if implemented.

Join in Progress disabled in any and all FFA playlists.

Also add 1 bullet to the DMR clip and put posters around the 343i offices which say “DO NOT FIX THAT WHICH IS NOT BROKEN.”

All I can think of atm.

About me: Just to justify my requests, I enjoy playing a good match, where even if you get your bum-hole destroyed, you can say ‘good game’ to the guy and drink a bottle of coke or what have you afterwards with him. I enjoy a good competition, but am all for screwing around with buddies too :slight_smile: This formula is what has always made Halo the superior game.

My dream TU in order of importance(some of these are restatements, if not most):

  1. 1-50 ranking system for certain playlists. Halo 3 had a good system in place, even if some abused it, you could always tell which ones did. They didn’t fit in place. There was a true reward for playing your best. Now everyone is equal, and let’s be honest, THIS IS NOT REALITY! I hate getting matched up with kids that aren’t in my range. I’m not even saying I’m good (but a 2.03 ain’t bad?). I dislike when I’m with kids above my range ('cos some kids have honorable teamwork, etc.) and kids far below it.

  2. BR made to be four shot kill (was that way in Halo 2 and 3, no reason why it should be changed in four). Some argue against having ‘nostalgia’ make decisions, but people don’t get that we were granted the optional approach, look where it brought us. People cry for ‘have options!’ etc. There needs to be some form of control and equal start where skill can take it’s natural progression. Otherwise we would, realistically, stay where we are.

  3. Bolt shot (personally would love to have it out all together in Match-Making) take the full clip for a charge and cut the range to a melee.

4)Remove Instant-Spawn + Spawn Faster option (really dumb idea. The goal should be to continue the fan base, not give it to another game all together. It’s fine if you want to bring fans over, but the game-play shouldn’t change. In my opinion, the fish-stick layout was as far as 343 really needed to take it.)

5)Classic Playlists. Doubles, Team Snipes, Team Classic (like in Reach → [Honestly, you would have those die hard fans accounted for, despite they are small they have a major voice.] )Lone Wolves, Action Sack, etc.

6)Spectator mode for MLG and so on. That community would benefit greatly from it. I’ve loved watching MLG DALLAS (MLG Instinct!) and know 343i does care. I’ve never been critical on them because carrying Halo is a big challenge, and you can’t expect to get it all right, but live and learn no?

Quick Comments + Letter:
Camo isn’t actually that hard to see, if they are moving about it’s typically in the center with the over crazed dots. Still, needs to be reduced or removed. While camo sniping or hiding with camo-boltshot has technically become useable thus far, it is in no ways fun.

I feel there needs to be slightly less empahsis on statistics and just on enjoying the game itself. Take for example, halo 1. Back then, it was just the game and time with friends you cared about. But maybe that’s the old nostalgia talking :stuck_out_tongue:

I am not giving up on neither Halo 4 nor 343i! They want the chance to listen to us, here it is. I know there are many other allocations that want change too (e.g. Forge community, custom game options, etc), but match-making is the biggest. I feel this is the place to start. Admit the mistakes, don’t sugar coat them or deny them. And don’t be ashamed to fix them. Sure some people may be ungrateful, but some still are there to support you guys! Good luck on the TU. Bloody Initiate “Automatics buffed to have kill times .05 seconds faster than Carbine”.

This would reward ‘special people’ who use automatic noob weapons, I for one think a gun where you have to actually aim should result in a faster kill time then a gun you just hold the trigger down and look in a persons directon and bullet magnetism kills that person for you.

Automatic weapons are the devil and should be condemned back to the firey depths of hell from once they came!

Dinosaurs being introduced as part of the scenary/spectacle. It would be quite funny to be in the middle of 1 on 1, for then a T-Rex to suddenly take a bite out of my opponent.

Remove Regicide, put in normal FFA

Perfect TU:

1-50 visible ranking system, ABSOLUTELY MOST IMPORTANT, without this it shouldnt even be called Halo

Bolt shot range trimmed down

DMR exactly the way it is

MLG playlist that adds 110% damage boost and is a true 4 shot again with DMR not allowed in MLG

Career K/D only taken from slayer based game types. Eliminating people boosting KD in Objective game types.

I forgot about the ranking system. I definitely think the halo 3 ranking system should be put back in place. Maybe after players complete a specialization or they become eligible to compete in a new ranking system for competitive matchmaking?
