"Your connection to the game session interrupted"

Hello all,

Just want to state that I’ve been enjoying Halo MCC for PC for the most part, been waiting a long time for the series to come to PC, just like probably everyone else here. However, ever since H2A was released, I’ve been completely unable to connect to MP sessions on all Halo’s (including the flight tests) with the error "Your connection to the game session was interrupted. I’ve scoured the Internet and taken a number of actions that have had no success, which I will list below. I started a support ticket about a month ago and have not received any updates in over a month now. I’m definitely frustrated as this is the only game that I have connectivity issues with and I’m certain is not my network settings, as I’m able to connect to XBL and do network engineering work for a living, and I’m certain it is something on 343’s end. If anyone here has any suggestions that are outside of the list of actions I’ve taken below, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Actions I have taken:

  • Port Forwarding: 88, 500, 3544, 4500
  • Did a move recently and issues exists with 2 different ISP’s (Comcast and Spectrum)
  • Verifying game cache in Steam
  • Complete reinstall
  • Verified successful connection to Teredo service
  • Went through this solution list Xbox Support

I did read that someone found success on a Reddit forum after switching from a mechanical HDD to an SSD. I have a mechanical HDD but don’t view that as a causation of network connectivity problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also want to add that I can successfully matchmake, but I drop the session once I try to connect to the actual game.

try activating UPnP on your router if you haven’t yet, that worked for me.

Thanks for the suggestion, took at look at uPnP on my router and it is enabled by default (which is odd but okay). I did locate a solution though, only took two months.

Basically, I had to enable IPv6 on my router and then searched for “xbox live neworking” on my win10 machine. From here I clicked the “fix it” button and then hit check again, which gave a successful connection to the Teredo service. Here’s the kicker though, I have to leave that window open, if I close the xbox live networking window, I lose Teredo immediately. Glad to find a fix, but it is clearly a workaround.

I also want to add if I minimize the Xbox Live Networking window in Win10, my packet loss jumps to 90%. Hope this helps everyone who has run into Halo MP issues, based on my research, it seems this problem has been apparent since the MCC PC launch, but 343 might not see it as a larger issue.
