Your Balancing for rank is unfair and laughable

I win 4 games and move up in division 6 and then i lose one game just 1 and you guys punish me all the way back to division 5… im not trying to replay matches just to get back in diamond 6… Fix your game

Meanwhile I’m stuck in Diamond 3 hell.

Quickly looking at your match history, it looks like you play with a friend that is plat who is lower mmr than you are. So the average mmr of the games is lower than your personal mmr. So the game expects you to hard carry those games. Since they “should be” easier games, you will get less for winning and lose more for losing.

Not saying that this system is fair or not, but that is what causes this to happen

While the ranking system is a tad convoluted, it is inherently implied that you will move up and down the ladder with wins and losses respectively.

Ranks aren’t handed to you, they’re earned and taken away. If you don’t like this concept, ranked isn’t for you.

D6 is a nightmare. It’s definitely not on par with the experience of the other tiers. I reached D5 in literally days after placement, but I’ve been stuck in D6 for 10 days now. Every time I get to D6 I get paired with people that have no chance of winning a game. There is always 1 bot, someone really low level in the team that can’t do anything because the lobby is too high for them. Not to mention that even if I win with good score, the progression is minimal to none. I guess the only way is to play with friends, but I have none to play with, so…stuck.

I’m pretty sure they made a mistake on how easy it was to get to Onyx and they are trying to fix that by making D6 as hard as possible.

I’m constantly getting put with people in Plat and Diamond and just pushing them around (which is funny because I placed Plat 4, so obviously I should have placed higher) and then out of nowhere I get matched against high rank Onyx players and get ragdolled while my teammates try to figure out how their own fingers and eyes work.

It’s all over the place right now, I’m just not gonna play it until they figure it out and implement fixes.

Which is infuriating considering the only way to get to the capstone challenge is by doing ranked this week.

Ranked wouldn’t be so bad if shots registered, you didn’t get shot through walls, melees worked properly, and you’d stop teleporting every time your ping jumps by 5 or more ms.

Going to call BS on that. There are no bots in ranked mode.

It’s definitely crap that half your team can quit, and you’re still sometimes penalized for losing. However, a lot of the ranked complaints (which has been happening for every Halo game since Halo 2) amount to “I climb up quickly, so I know I’m good, and then I get stuck! This game sucks!”

That’s exactly how ranked modes should work. I’m not claiming there aren’t any problems. I’m just saying that having difficulty moving beyond some rank (gaining slowly when you win and dropping fast when you lose) is not evidence that the system is broken.

I’m a simple soul, okay? I see a thread with a recent reply, I skim, and I post. You can’t expect me to see all the dates!

Lol I totally get that idea. Have to make sure that you aren’t out of your mind. Like it’s the same issues and challenges since launch for this game in ranked.

Players that are Plat 5 up to Diamond 2 feel the same. Diamond 3 seems like the next skill jump.

CSR and skill don’t seem to line up. I’ve read things about the MMR the servers use to place players not only in ranked, but more causal game modes. So, when playing quick play, it was common for me to place high in games consistently. Because of that I had a higher MMR, and the servers matched me with more difficult opponents for my placement matches. As a result, I placed Gold and I had to grind to just get back to platinum. I was a a pretty decent player before I went into ranked, I now am stuck in mediocre tier, but placed with bad teammates and good opponents because my MMR says I’m good, but my CSR says I’m mediocre, so to “balance” the CSR matchmaking equation, they place my higher MMR skill with lower MMR’s in my CSR tier and I have bad teammates to make it a “fair” game.

Both teams are going to have a roughly equal MMR, regardless of CSR tier. Which, makes sense mathematically but not realistically. Four 50 MMR players doesn’t equal one 155 and three 15 MMRs even though both sides mathematically balance at 200 MMR. (No idea what scale MMR acidly uses, these numbers are just for example).

Go look at your waypoint app and look at your “last 20 games”. It shows you your kills and deaths, but also your “expected” kills and deaths. It knows how you perform. It knows how you’ll do against other players. That is an MMR driven graph and performance forecast. It has very little to do with your CSR. If it were based off CSR, then you’d never have plat players in a gold matchmaking. Especially in Gold because that’s where most players are. It has no problem finding enough players in gold with similar CSR rankings.

It’s BS, quite frankly. And when it comes to individual CSR, the individuals performance should be weighted, even if their team loses. It doesn’t truly separate by skill. It separates by balance within your tier. So if you’re good and you place Gold, you will stay gold and used as a counterbalance. You might even be as good as some lower performing diamond players. But you’ll never escape. You will just keep being given bad teammates to balance the game.

Fix your game, 343.
