> There are more customization options than beta but the armor specifically is tied to helmets and suits - no “bits and bobs” like in Halo: Reach. Each suit and helmet is designed with a specific visual style in mind. We’ve created a HUGE variety of suits and helmets including brand new designs and lots of returning classics. Armor options are unlocked through the REQ system and we’ll be continuing to build and release new content post-launch, with hundreds of new REQs planned (in addition to the content available at launch).

Emblems will be unlocked via REQ packs. Holmes confirmed this in the GI podcast today.

What a let down. I’m sure the game will be great, but even -Yoink- Call of Duty allows people to customize their avatars pretty deeply. I at least expected as much from Halo. The customization seemed to have only gotten more awesome with each game. This feels like a step backwards. I know it’s a small thing, but it’s been one of my favorite features and now it’s bare bones.
I’m not disappointed in the least. I like the fact they are more interested in being able to add more and more armors, rather than choosing to make a few armors and the ability to change around specific parts.
I would have liked customizable shoulders, but that is about it for specific customization, I can’t say I cared for Reach level armor customization as it was barely noticeable beyond head/shoulders/body/visor and most of it looked like most of the Spartans fell into a UNSC scrapyard.
Its understandable that some people will be upset, however small some things are, no one is really a fan of things being removed.
Not surprised but I am still incredibly disappointed. First they neuter the MCC’s customization and now this. They were probably just trying to condition us so we wouldn’t -Yoink- by dulling down the MCC on purpose.

yes mate!! ur rite!! they did it bloody perfect mate! theres nothin wrong with this so people stop bein negative!!
I understand why customization is so important to so many of us, and I think the best way to implement it would be through rank and exclusivity. How many of us played for hours on end just because that Hiyabusa armour and katana was a thing? Recon was a veritbale holy symbol for ages during the early days of H3 (HOLY -Yoink- THAT GUY HAS RECON?!? was a phrase often sputtered). Giving higher ranked players exlcusive armour not only empowers them as players but is a great incentive for other players to want to do better.
That said, they opted for having it tied to REQ packs, which is a great way to monetise, and it brings to mind the success of Skins in League of Legends and skins in Counter Strike, they’re trying to emulate that success which is a great idea from a business perspective. I don’t mind at all. Stat-track weapons and vehicles would also be pretty cool!! (especially in campaign).

You’re not disappointed by literally anything that is mentioned on these forums lol
What’s with this frequent desire to break what doesn’t need to be broken? I was accepting of the limited player customization in the beta because not only was it an earlier build, but because all Halo betas have been like that since Halo 3. I don’t care if there are a larger variety of armor, only being able to change your helmet and body is just lame. And what’s this talk about microtransactions and whatnot? This isn’t a free-to-play game, 343i. It’s an $80 (Canadian) game. Get that -Yoink- out of it.

I’m disappointed in the amount of complaining done, but what good does commenting about the complaints going to do?
That being said, I really find almost everything 343i has done so far to be fantastic.

What exactly is ‘creative’ about being able to pick different armor pieces? They are the ones making the pieces, there is only so many combinations. How often do you stare at people’s armors for longer than the 2-3 seconds you look at their stats and the half a second you stare before shooting them?

WE AGREE ON SOMETHING?! I think we need to make a historic comment. Glad to see someone sees my point of view here.

Yes, the ability to swap out a bunch of extremely similar, tiny armor parts was an ESSENTIAL element of player creativity in Halo…
Get real. The only parts that made a significant and noticeable difference visually are the ones they kept. Everything else was minute visual clutter at best. Now, instead of micromanaging a bunch of mostly identical bracers and knee pads, people have the horrendous option of actually playing the game. How awful.
