You would think 343i would...

You would think 343i might cut their vacation a little short after seeing such a big population drop. And I’m not just talking overall, I know people are going back to school, work, college, or whatever else people have to do. I’m talking about the abysmal population in the “rotational” playlists and the infinity challenge. I personally haven’t seen the infinity challenge playlist go above the Infinity Slayer playlist since the second week of the challenge. And Team Regicide… What can I even say? Yeah it was fun at first, but just like everything else this game has to offer, it died VERY fast. And the Crimson DLC playlist… That in an of itself should rattle the cages of 343i. Their beloved DLC playlist can’t even get to 1,000 players! This, to me at least, is a clear sign Halo is almost on it’s dying legs. This long of a break with nothing new is causing players to go to other games like CoD or what ever other go to’s they have. I love this game, but it just can’t hold my attention. I have never, in any Halo game, been able to play just slayer or an objective game for fun. I need some sort of competitiveness brought to the game soon. They said they are working on a true skill system and some more competitive playlists which I think will revive this game for a couple months. But if they don’t act fast more and more people are going to go.

I’ve always thought that winning is something competitive enough to push me through

i also find it satisfying to get a kill, in any way shape or form

and even more satisfying to get a kill in ways other people don’t usually get kills, ,for example in the Warthog

but that’s just me

I must admit I’m surprised that 343i didn’t cut their holidays short to try and fix their baby.

Peak population yesterday was less than 100,000. Off-peak population yesterday was less than 8,000 (with a whopping 175 players in the Crimson playlist).

Even with the new influx of Christmas players the numbers have already gone lower than what they were before. Maybe a lot of H4 players got other games and have moved on?

I understand that. But the basic Slayer settings in just a4v4 or 5v5 format just can’t hold my attention like a 2v2 or an MLG (I know “Get out MLG -Yoink-”) style playlist. When slayer pro was still in, I could play for hours on end. But now, it’s just meh.

My thoughts exactly.

Do you think that by giving the Crimson DLC away for free they might help boost the DLC population?

Oh, wait…

And it worked too. That little screw up caused a HUGE increase in population.

On a serious note, the game is a very good FPS game, and it will never cater to everyone’s wishes. What most players fail to recognize is that the driver is economics, not making fans happy, because they know the latter isn’t possible - that there is always someone that is going to complain about something.

someone could take this wrong and say that 343i/MS is just milking the franchise, or just making H4 only for the money, and not for the franchise itself

unless of course that is what you were implying…

If I was at 343i I’d be considering officially freeing up the Crimson map pack. The problem is that because all of their map packs are being released so closely together its going to be a long time before they want to give any away for free, because why would you buy Majestic when you can get Crimson for free?

That said releasing Heroic map pack on H3 for free was an awesome move, and it made BTB so much better. Standoff… Rats Nest… good times.

8,000 players earlier currenty was playing in War Games Matchmaking. This game really is dying.

Some of the best times my friends and I had were on those maps back in H3. We would play form sunset to sunrise. Those really were good times.

It is mid-day on the second day back to whatever though (for me at least). We’ll see how many want to get on and unwind from the day in a couple hours.

Who am I kidding, playing Halo 4 is not something I want to when I get off work.

The problem with this though, is that all the people who bought the maps, or the war pass, or the Limited Edition are going to feel cheated. I know I will. I payed an extra $40 for 2 map packs? Yeah no. There would be a very big uproar if that happened. Maybe one day they can release it free. Or hell, make something else that everyone will enjoy and make that free.

Not even close

This is a consumer society, regardless of their financial status, they will consume.

You do know that Major Nelson counts singleplayer+SpartanOps+Theater+forge+CustomGames+MM+idling in the menu+etc. Even TESIV: Oblivion appeared once on that list a singleplayer only game.

So? That’s not a bad thing, Halo 4 is still the second most played game on the Xbox 360 whether you accept that fact fact or not.

at what time of day? also, NO. thats a lie.
