At least to try it, yes. I lost a ton of friends to Reach. I hope this game doesn’t let us down.
This will be the first Halo game since 3 was launched that I don’t preorder the game (as I have down with 3, ODST, Reach and Anniversary).
After the fail of Reach, in my opinion, I’ll wait a few months to see if there is still a population around. If it drops rapidly I probably won’t get 4 until it hits the $20 used bin.
Hopefully these custom loadouts aren’t to dumb.
TBH i hope its more like Halo 2 and 3. Imo i hated Reach. Heres some proof
Watch a Halo Reach montage the go watch a Halo 2 or 3 montage and tell me which one was better.
I stopped a couple months ago and i will be back. I think most hardcore halo fans who gave up on Reach are willing to give the franchise another chance.
I haven’t played Reach, save one campaign mission, since Aug of last year. I’ll give it the chance it deserves, but if I don’t enjoy it and it isn’t up to Halo standards (much like Reach) I’ll be done with it after 2-3 months and move over to the PC.
Possible but unlikely. The largest portion of players that “left” Reach are mostly casual gamers who more than likely CoD players now. Unless they really really don’t like Black Ops 2 I don’t see this changing.
There is this hilarious myth going around that the “lower” numbers of Reach population and sales(Which are not actually even that much “lower” given a number of factors but that is another can of worms) because there was some mass exodus of Halo players that left because Reach was some “failure”. Its a joke.
The number of people who left because Reach was somehow not “Halo” pales in comparison to those who just left because CoD and its gameplay is simply more popular at the moment.
People seem to be under the delusion that it was the deeper mechanics that were somehow the source of Halo’s success. That if only 343 returned to nothing but power ups in multiplayer people would return in droves.
It may very well end up being that Halo 4 is a record breaking success on Xbox and goes back to being number 1 on XBL but it depends far more on a casual market than the Hardest of the Hardcore.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Halo and I am always hoping for its continued success It just frustrates me that people think that it is some sort of huge decline and only the “true” Halo fans can save t.
> The way I see it, reach was a bolt of lightening. It should be in a video game archive as a work of art. Bungie crafted the WORST FPS known to man. On even the most fundamental levels, reach fails. It’s just mind boggling how bad the game is. It’s like the most expensive trolling project in history. I would be completely astonished if halo 4 is as bad or worse than reach.
Great, ANOTHER fool who thinks that his opinion is the word of God. And in the minority, too. Most people think Reach was alright, even if many they thought 3 was better. But then again, I might as well try explaining difference between “fact” and “opinion” to some 3 year-olds than people on this forum. Or my cat.

Mmm… Reach. Definitely Reach. But you sort of have some screwed up logic; somehow choosing between two options that are completely dependant on personal opinion is proof that… um, YOU don’t like Reach?
I’m gonna assume you meant “proof Reach was bad”, in which case your logic is as equally screwed up as, once again, it’s an opinion.

What’s this? A smart person ? Here? This is the biggest news since the moon landing!

lol i agree with you man.
The best part is bungie said at their reach panel that reach is their best multiplayer effort yet and they worked the hardest on it.
which basically states the harder they work on a game the worse it becomes
probably not. majority of the people who left reach were narrow minded whiners that can’t accept that we need change. halo isnt cod there for its not gona be the same thing every game.
> …will be back?
I like to think so. Realistically? I think they’ll play it safe with the best means for them to “try” Halo 4 if not accepted, if they still don’t like it, then no. If they like it, obviously yes.
Ever since I became a Mythic in Reach roughly 2 months ago, I switched back to Halo 3, and honestly…it felt great playing H3 Multiplayer again.

woah woah woah woah woah woah…woah…woah…woah. I berate your favorite game so you insult me, yet you compare me to a three year old?!
The farther halo gets away from H2/H3 style game play the less likely the competitive older school players are to enjoy . As was seen with Reach as most don’t find it Competitive
> Ever since I became a Mythic in Reach roughly 2 months ago, I switched back to Halo 3, and honestly…it felt great playing H3 Multiplayer again.
Yeah I back to Halo 3 every few weeks for a game or two
And it feels amazing even with the crappy netcode
> I don’t think they will. Most of them are dead set on the fact that it’s catering to “casuals,” and they don’t seem interested. Sad for them, but I honestly don’t care. They’re the ones mission out, not us. If you want to bail just because you didn’t give Reach a chance, then good riddance. We (I) don’t want you as a part of the Halo community anyway. Besides, all they’re doing is trying to revert the game back to something we’ve already played for countless hours. It would get boring if it was still the same.
Augmented. you and I have very little to nothing to quarrel about up till now. But this time, I do have something to remind you of: this community, heck, every community is only as powerful as it is by the members individual contribution flames. What I mean by this is each person, whether we dislike, loathe, despise, them does not mean they aren’t worth the same value as you or I in the overall gran scheme of things. That’s the lovely thing about this particular community. It’s diversity is both a blessing and a curse. If people see change they dislike, their should be people willing to reach out and ask why that is. sure some posters are new to this scene and haven’t figured out the ropes of life just yet, but hey, they will.
My point in all of this is you say good riddance to players like that, my response is, why are you trying to put this community into further harm by acting like this is ok? Those players are Halo players no more because of change. While I freely accept whatever changes 343 implements and yes, I do get excited about the current direction… I also need to remind them they are also costing players the enjoyment they have known and loved for the sake of these changes. Ultimately, all I really want is for everyone to sign the peace treaties and enjoy Halo for what it is: One of the greatest video games this gaming generation knows.
Yeah, they will. There will be peer pressure to grab and play with your friends. People are usually pretty good about understanding that one game in a series that they didn’t enjoy doesn’t mean the entire series will continue that way.
I don’t want to lose any more friends because of another game like Reach .
They better not. Let them cry about Sprint and 5 year old game mechanics on Halo 3.
I sure will.
Well it doesn’t look as if 343 are giving those players a chance to like Halo 4.
