You shouldn't get banned for leaving quickplay matches

I wholeheartedly believe that players in Halo Infinite shouldn’t get banned for leaving too many matches. I know it’s annoying when other players leave the game in the middle of the round, but give me a second to explain.

As we all know, we do not get to choose what game modes we play or what challenges we have to do. So what sense does it make for there to be a ban for people who leave matches that they either don’t want to play or don’t have to play? Example: I have a challenge for playing one game of Slayer, the game only places me into CTF matches, I leave, more CTF, leave, ban.

And to answer the question “why don’t you just play the matches you’re put in?” I hate CTF, pure and simple, rounds are too long and almost always end with a tie.

To quickly sum up my point: You can’t have people pay for a battle pass, give them game mode exclusive challenges, randomize what game modes they play, and then ban them for when they leave the matches that don’t align with their challenge.

I agree. It’s actually extremely frustrating the ways 343i go about things. Why are we forced to play a random game mode rather than pick what we want? I don’t want to play CTF or Oddball because 90% of the time, IM DOING ALL THR WORK.

your answer is a big no, sorry bud.

This I can answer, if you do a ranked arena, and quit just to do the missions, it is right that after two ragequits you are banned temporarily for 30 minutes. Because you just ruin the game for your team.

I’m talking about quickplay

If quickplay, i agree with you. i think is a good way to disable the ban into this mode.

It’s a big yes. 343i did this to themselves. 50 xp for completing a match when it takes 1000 to level up? Give me a break. Shouldn’t have to play 20 matches to level up once. Should be 200-300 minimum. Hell even call of duty has better battlepass system. No incentive to play.

Summary

The challenges are insanely stupid. I have to play 3 Oddball matches. Yet the chance of getting in an Oddball match is lower than 1 in 4. So I probably have to play between 12 and 16 matches in order to complete a “play 3 oddball matches” challenge.

Also the “win 1 big team battle match” challenge. I HATE big team battle. And i played 4 matches already of a gametype that I hate and my team lost all 4.

F*cking hate this challenge system with all my heart.

Nah, penalties for leaving should 100% be a thing. Halo has been plagued by people leaving matches for years. What needs to happen is we need to be able to select what game modes we queue for, that way people are less inclined to leave matches to begin with.

Also yeah CTF is hot garbage and plays like -Yoink!- in Halo.

Hard no. Only way I would agree would be in the situation where half your team has already quit… then I agree that there is no poinit in them making you sit through the rest.

On the other hand yes it does need a match composer that you can deselect the gametypes that you don’t want to play in the first place.

In any other game I’d call you out for leaving games, but I can’t do that here

the fact that we can’t queue for SLAYER in a Halo game speaks volumes about how this game was designed

at first I assumed it was because they didn’t have enough tie to implement game-specific modes, but at this point, after them having the chance to add more playlists when Fiesta was added, I believe without a doubt this current problem is by design to force & inflate a higher playtime because of the mode-specic challenges people are trying to complete.

I consider that having global statistics with a competitive approach in social games does not make any sense. Being punished severely for quitting fast games or party mode is pointless.

Social games should focus exclusively on fun, an approach that has been lost since the competitive one was prioritized.

Unfortunately a lot of weight is given to pros and streamers on what is classified as fun. Look at what happened to halo 5’s social community because of it.
Halo 3 and Reach were the pinnacle of the halo social crowd. (Custom games, ninja maps, wipeout maps).
Halo takes itself too seriously nowadays. Although fiesta slayer being the first event kinda goes against that statement a bit.

I have to win 3 oddball matches. Probably gonna quit if no oddball comes up because the game wants me to. Great system they have in place, well thought out, years of dev time well spent…

Here’s a simple answer: They don’t want you to complete challenges so quickly to progress through the battle pass in a reasonable time. Choosing your game modes would make it too easy and too fast for a FrEe tO pLaY game. They hand out bans for pretty much anything. Too many self destructions (which doesn’t even affect your teams score) in one match, internet troubles, and leaving a match. It was a very poor decision by 343i to incorporate bans into an Early Access game/beta.

Counterpoint: you should be banned. FU for quitting and sticking me with a crappy bot

The bot has nothing to do with your crappy performance, pal

Also, Halo Infinite’s bots can be pretty damn good sometimes. I’d rather have a bot in objectives helping out as opposed to having no teammate at all like in previous titles.

The Marine bots are crap teammates. I’m not a top tier player, but my performances are not crap, especially in Quick Play.

That’s besides the point. It’s rude to quit multiplayer games. The only reason you should quit is if you truly have to quit gaming for something irl, in which case being temp banned has no effect on you.

It’s quick play there should be no ban at all

You do realize the bot is just a placeholder for a player to join the game, right…? I have over 40 hours already, and I’d say it’s pretty rare for a bot to stay on your team for more than a minute at a time. I’d rather be able to hop back on and play again versus being banned for 10 minutes over a squirrel walking on my power lines, or having to complete game mode specific challenges bro. The trade off is not that bad. It just sounds like you can’t hold your own weight, so you wanna blame the bots.
