You Should Not Have To Face Sweaty Kids 24/7

You should also not have to face people that don’t know how to hold a controller 24/7.

Bungie didn’t understand the latter while handling Reach, while now 343 seems to not understand the former while handling Halo 4. Does anyone else miss a healthy balanced breakfast of a game - Halo 3 - where there’s an actual choice of having intense matches or relaxed matches?

Don’t you consider it a bad thing that people cannot play with their friends who are less skilled than them because their friends will get absolutely demolished and not have a good time at all? I can’t play with my friends in real life unless I use a secondary account, otherwise we inevitably lose, and they inevitably go insanely negative, turning them off from the game.

Furthermore, if people are going to have to try their -Yoinks!- off every last game, don’t you think it’s appropriate to have a system which actually rewards them for doing so? A 1-50-esque system? One that’s not effectively third-party?

Ok, 2 things…

1- change the text colour for fs

2- yeah I miss having the RANKED and SOCIAL playlists, but nobody seems to care about it anymore :frowning:

I’m on the less skilled side of your argument, in fact its rather perplexing at the moment. When I am just randomly hitting war games, I play rather satisfactorily, but as soon as I party up with better-skilled friends, I play horribly. Someone mentioned a skill summary when it comes to matchmaking and I continually get trounced with my friends, typically being the very reason they lose a match. I wind up feeling very bad on multiple levels.

So, yeah, something a bit more relaxed would be cool. But again, we are early on in the game’s lifespan in which everyone is trying to rank up ASAP.

Good points. A social playlist would be nice.

This is also one thing I have noticed too. It’s quite insane really. Every match If I am not in 100% try hard mode when I play alone I might as well just not play. But whne I play with my less skilled friends they aren’t having fun either since they are going againt players way more skilled than tham. Halo 3 social had it pretty balanced so all could enjoy the fun while not being too pressured. The trueskill works in Halo 4 oh yes indeed. But this system is like a psuedo Ranked playlist but without the visual representation.

So bascially I’m trying my hardest to play well with no reward match after match. It gets tiresome really going against team pro tryhard match after match for no other reason than to get carpal tunnel in my hands lol. If I lose big deal, if I win big deal. It’s not like I can see my trueskill rank so it’s like w/e.

Some days you just wanna play on relaxed mode and other days we are our best and want to face the best. The system we have now is “play hard 24/7, if you aren’t at your best today well too bad you’re gunna die a lot then”. Join in Progress doesn’t help either when the games start 3v4 or 3v5 and no other player joins my team. Against a full party of 4 skilled players you might as well just not even try. They’ve already won due to the fact the game let them start with an extra player lol

> Good points. A social playlist would be nice.

This is one of the few complaints about the game that holds water. Having separate Ranked and Social playlists is an obvious solution to a problem that arose from removing Ranked and Social in the first place.

Really, when I’m in a good state of mind to play my best I love the game, but sometimes I just want to -Yoink- around, maybe warm up. There’s no real option for a nice relaxed game right now besides maybe losing over and over so that TruSkill will put you in a lower tier, but that’s no solution at all.

Most of what people find wrong with Halo 4 is just nostalgia- a refusal to accept that the Halo 2/3 formula has been done and that the series is going to different places now. But this is a completely valid grievance. Ranked and Social Playlists + visible skill ranks = a great online experience for the casual and competitive alike (I’m not using “causal” as a derogatory, either; I’m a casual player).

Lots of people care…

So you’re tired of playing against people your own skill level and you want to play against lesser skilled players so you can do better?

+1

I’m not a good player. My friends are either really bad, or really good, hardly ever can I get a To4 on my skill level. What I liked in Reach was that I could consistently play with people I get along with, and not have to worry about having to tryhard it up every single match.

> So you’re tired of playing against people your own skill level and you want to play against lesser skilled players so you can do better?

I want to be able to play with my friends who suck and them not have a horrible time. This requires both teams to have a mixture of different skill levels with relatively loose trueskill (or whatever they use now).

> So you’re tired of playing against people your own skill level and you want to play against lesser skilled players so you can do better?

no thats not it at all.

We need social playlists and ranked. If you read the Op’s topic you would have seen it’s not fun for thier lesser skilled friends when they play together. They bascially get put up agaisnt players way beyond thier skill level. I have gone in with my lesser skilled friends as well and seen the same affects. They almost don’t want to play with me anymore becasue they know whats coming lol

Thats not really fun or fair for them. Likewise who likes going agamst hardcore players all night in playlists that aren’t really ranked that have JIP? That is not only tiring but makes a lot of annoying matches occur. It’s not about steamrolling through the masses but finding a good medium so you don’t have to put your tryhard -Yoink!- on game after game against relentless forces when JIP matches you in a game 3v5 and no other players join your team all game.

It’s just plain annoying.

What you hate, is being discussed at great length in this topic:

Pay a visit, you’ll find more of us, like yourself, who are tired of all this -Yoink-.

Ah, I see. I usually read the topic before posting but due to the title of the thread and the colour of your font, I must admit I did skip through it. I guess I agree with what you’re saying, I have similar problems sometimes with my friends when I play. Halo 3 had it right.

I agree!

I want to be able to choose when I need my try-hard -Yoink!- on and when I can troll around.

This and the overall networking of the game are my only two complaints.

The rest I will adapt to the new direction Halo is taking and still love the game and franchise.

Sometimes when you just get home from work you just wanna hop into a social playlist and not have to worry about trying hard to keep the lead. It’s not a hard concept. Halo 3 did it very well.

Yup. Bungie fixed what wasn’t broken in Reach, and then 343 built upon that fix rather than reverting to the obviously superior H3 system.

I swear they were making a Reach sequel and then halfway through they realized that it’s impossible story-wise, so they kept all the limited ideas but made the story continue off Halo 3.

Why I face tryhards every game? WHY 343~WHY!
