In popular topics on the forums, I always see someone hating on Halo 5. If you didn’t like the Halo 5 Beta, than the game has to be better!
343 Industries made a Halo 5 Beta for the community to reflect upon the current state of Halo. 343 WANTS you to tell them what you like and don’t like in Halo 5. But you don’t have to hate on them for turning Halo into a fresh franchise. Halo isn’t dead, and it won’t be for years to come.
If you don’t like Halo, then STOP POSTING ON THE FORUMS! Why are you still here? You don’t like Halo! Get out! But at least tell me you believe the game can change. What about all the other Halo games? How about Halo Wars 2, Spartan Strike, and a new character? Personally, I really don’t like the Halo 5 Beta as a whole. It has a lot of issues and unfair advantages. But it WILL change.
343 Industries HAS to be Halo’s new Bungie. And they will.
“343 are just coping CoD” even though that is physically impossible given CoD:AW only came out recently. And don’t even talk about sprint, an FPS in 2015 CANNOT ship without sprint. It’s expected from the genre at this point. Seriously, show me a well regarded FPS that didn’t ship with sprint in the past few years. Even Serious Sam 3, a very classic like shooter shipped with sprint and that was like in 2009. It’s not the early 90’s anymore. I don’t think people realize they have a game to sell. Regardless, they’ve given a penalty to sprinting thus alleviating most of the issues that have been brought up.
“343 are just catering to the casuals” even though they’ve made big steps in making the game more competitive. No loadouts, lower aim assist (close to Halo CE), static power weapon timers, weaker baseline abilities which everyone spawns with that give an even playing field (ground pound is very hard to use and sprint has a penalty), and thruster pack actually increases the skill gap because it gives another way for a good player to outplay others(another tool to destroy with).
“It doesn’t feel like Halo” even though it’s a new game with new mechanics and it SHOULDN’T feel exactly the same as what you normally consider ‘Halo’. And somehow elevating the feeling in your balls to some objective criteria.

1.) Destiny’s beta was fun as balls. We know how that turned out.
2.) We told them what we don’t like. They have yet to even acknowledge the problem. Forgive us if we are perturbed. I was also unaware Halo stopped being a fresh franchise. Well, of course it did, but only after Reach and 4 killed it.
3.) Who the fudge said I didn’t like Halo?? I friggin’ LOVE Halo! Halo CE had me gnawing at the bit against onslaughts of Flood in a few sections of brutal gameplay that reminded me why I play video games. Halo 2 showed me the Covenant Empire and became a story of tongue-in-cheek military sci-fi, a tragedy about a fallen alien noble, a story of political intrigue and secrecy, and even some Lovecraftian horror! Halo 3 is my last bastion of classic Halo multiplayer, aside from that…thing…in CEA. Wars 2 should be fantastic. Spartan Strike…okay sure. Heard Spartan Assault was good. New character? I think Locke’s voice actor is a little underwhelming, but I think he’s cool. None of this has me sold on 343 though.
4.) I’m not sure what you mean about “new Bungie.” I’m no fan of Bungie, not after Reach and Destiny. Don’t like Microsoft either, considering their bottom line has us talking about this. I like Halo. Anyone who gives me Halo is alright in my book.
Most have the idea of the “modern” beta being nothing more than a ploy to draw up sales. Betas like that of destiny’s were little more than stress test on their servers. Nothing can be done in the last 2-3 months before release.
People feel that with h5’s “modernizations” that the game wont change at all even after the it being held a year in advance so 343 can make meaningful change.
I haven’t even played the beta and I really don’t like it AT ALL. Sure, the graphics are amazing, but you can hate on the game when it’s actually released. I hate smart-scope. But if it’s in the final version, then it better be good.

Beta or not, they implemented a lot of new things… i liked some of the new features. I’m excited for the halo franchise. can’t wait for it to come out.

That’s the thing. Betas are designed to:
A.) Give you an idea of what the game is like so you buy it because you liked it. This is good.
B.) Lie to your face about what the game is like so you buy it, then feel like an idiot because you got cheating into buying it. This is very bad.
Now if I played the beta and disliked it, this means option A is now a liability. Meaning either, the game is as bad as I think it will be…

Halo should have things like short kill-times because 99% OTHER FPS IN THE MARKET HAS IT. Should it actually? Hahaha, No.

You realize it’s not just a beta right? You realize there are bigger issues here right? You realize it’s a philosophy right?
The philosophy is to make halo more. “Modern”. The steps being taken to accomplish this philosophy are to take non-original gameplay aspects from other “modern” FPS titles and change halo to fit the modern FPS cookie-cutter, but still leave other halo gameplay features in the game. The result is a confused mess and one that I’d rather not play, and definitely won’t be buying.

This is a totaly Fallacy SMH.
These “mordern” Mechanics would be a none issue had titan fall, or AW not released with these mechanics then what? would halo be copying something else? Seriously These games came out with these mechanics because they are new and interesting.
Had things like Thruster, clamber, ground pound, Etc etc not been in these games then Halo 5 would be revolutionary its complete bull people think halo is copying anything. conceptually they are similar but they work completely different.
Its just ridiculous.
I keep asking and no seem to come up with anything substantial,
What On gods green Earth would you ADD to halo to make it the next best halo, With out copying other games with out being superficial, tell me that. You can’t no one can. Its either Keep halo from changing at all or its not halo anymore.

HOLY -YOINK- TWO THREADS MADE IT TO THE TOP PAGE AT THE SAME FREAKING TIME, STARTED BY PURISTS ABOUT INNOVATIONS THEY’D LIKE, AND NO ONE SAW THEM.

What do you mean they haven’t acknowledged the problem? Josh Holmes has said he has compiled everything changing on a list, and its taking long because he has to shorten it because THE LIST OF CHANGES IS TOO LONG. We’ll see it this week.

As of the time of my writing (and the time of your responding) they still haven’t addressed the problem. They’ve addressed their address to the problem, but not the problem.
And I’m okay with a long list of changes. Ctrl+F “Sprint.”

Well then, allow me fall back on the worst argument against Sprint in history because that is all it takes to destroy that facade of a response.
Sprint is in CoD. Therefore, by your own definition, it’s not innovative either. /thread
By your def, Clamber isn’t an innovation. Thruster pack isn’t an innovation. ADS isn’t an innovation. None of that is innovative. If we’re going to really have an argument about the semantics of innovation I will NOT be participating because that -Yoink- gets nothing done. I’m glad you have an idea of what is innovative that only fits specific definitions of stuff you like.

Actually MW2 released and halo started losing players. And halo 3 couldn’t stay at the top after black ops.
Sure, the game was in beta, but a lot of the garbage that everyone hated in the beta is going to be in Halo 5. If you guys think 343 is actually going to completely re-design the scope and remove their crappy smartscope then you’re wrong.

You obviously dont get my Point, My point is that One you guys say you wanted new “innovation” yet you band together and condemn it. You Guy hind behind a lie, But what you really want is just halo 2/3 with map packs.(you know basically the same thing COD is dissed on constantly)
I also Never said I dont want any of those thing Most of those thing would be amazing in halo. Just like I personally feel about halo 5 so far.
AND the other things is while all those things suggested in the other thread as well as the mechanics in halo 5 might on paper seem like it being copied from other games(forge, Theater, Dual wielding), Its how they are implemented into the game that makes the difference. and halo 5 plays much different from any other games out there.
