You quit because you suck

So many people quit when they get owned. It’s kinda sad. I don’t understand, win or lose, what’s the point of playing if you’re going to quit the match?

On the contrary, a lot of people quit because of brutal team mates who only care about kills, not the objective, a lot of people quit because the rest of their team quits, and a lot more reasons.

There’s loads of legit reasons to quit, not all quit for the assumed reasons in your head.

There are multiple sides of the spectrum to quitting just as Tomo stated.

I quit when the map or gametype is bad.

Sword base on AR’s? no thanks. I’m out before match even begins.

OP is so great at Halo

If I ever face you in MM I promise I won’t quit. ; )

I usually stick games through. But when its a team of 4 vs 4 randoms, and they’re holding the objective and spawn trapping. I’m not gonna stay around and waste my time. Play the game right (i.e. Griffball).

What a lovely generalization, OP.

I don’t think I’m less skilled than you when your whole team gangs on me and it is only me on my team.

Well, for many people who play video games…the point of playing is to have fun. If the game is no longer fun you can quit and find a different game that is fun. Or stay and have non-fun. And for people who care primarily about having fun, that choice is stupid simple. And a game can become not fun for many reasons other than losing; likewise a game can still be fun while losing.

However, there are tons of other reasons to quit: Internet sucks and lags out, power goes out, dinnertime, lunchtime, classtime, generally any real life thing.

And also when you get horribly bad teammates. Maybe betraying, going -50, suiciding, etc…

But, as you said, there’re a lot of valid reasons to quit.

You play the game to get better. I play maps i hate all the time. Sometimes I get terrible teammates, but I try to help them out during the game and use deathcam to see how they are playing. I don’t see a reason for quitting. Sometimes it’s not in your favor. If you quit too much you should be banned from playing the game. There are plenty of gametypes, and you wont always get what you want. Quitting isn’t fair. Sometimes people will betray/give team kills on purpose. Report them after. If you only want to play certain gametypes, then take your indecisive picky -Yoink- to customs and find friends who want to run the same map all the time.

I only quit if it’s crap host.

Thank you. I’ve been trying to figure out why I quit so much, but now I’ve found the answer. I am in your debt.

Everyone has -Yoink- days, some more than others.
I try to keep calm when I get frustrated, but sometimes my frustration turns into carelessness, and then I flip out and quit. The 10 minute punishment I recieve usually helps, because during that time I can calm down a bit. Teammates that piss me off by teamkilling, being -Yoinks!- and doing other stupid -Yoink- also make me mad. There are alot of stupid -Yoinks!- who play Halo, and there are also alot of great, mature players. Its when the noobs outweigh the mature players when -Yoink- goes wrong.

It’s kind of ironic, but I really only quit if my team quits. Or have inactive players.

If it’s 4 v 1 or 2 I’m not going to stay around and let 4 dudes kill me and t-bag my body collectively.

> If I ever face you in MM I promise I won’t quit. ; )

I’m not staying around if I get stuck with bad team mates who betray others for weapons, users for vote for Elite Slayer and if I am matched up against a team of players who all have the rank of Inheritor.

I quit if it isn’t fun, or I have real life duties to attend to. (Preparing for College, for example.)

BUT, Remember this.

What HAPPENS in a video game, STAYS in a video game.

Except your mind.

i quit if i’m getting a lot of lag all of a sudden, If it’s an objective mode and I’m the only one going for the objective whilst everyone else just goes for kills I give up unless I’m carrying the team cos the other team sucks and can’t take the flag off of 1 guy despite being 4+ vs 1.

Or if the enemy team is just artillery volley throwing frag grenades at my spawn area, that sucks. Spawn camping whatever method always sucks.

If I’m shooting you in the head five consecutive times without your character flinching, and you are effectively shooting me through walls…

If you are spawn killing me without giving me a fair chance to move…

If you’re going to make the game less fun than it already is…

…Then I’ll quit.

People fail to realise that Reach has limited replay value as it is. If people are taking the fun out of a game, then it’s stupid to think people will stay. I won’t quit if I’m loosing, but if the game becomes unfair… I’m out of there straight away.

Ironically, it’s not pathetic that people quit, it’s pathetic that people take games too seriously. There’s more important things to do in life then play a game.
