Its very important for the well being of Infinite that BP and standard progressions have avenues of increase beyond stagnant, and enforced challenges!
Agreed. Reach had my favorite system but even if they just copy how MCC does progression I’d be happy.
I hate that it’s tied to challenges… Make the challenges a boost in xp or reward stuff.
Big serious, yeah. If they base all progression on challenges, don’t they think that every multiplayer match will be inherently unfair and unbalanced because there will almost always be at least one player who’s busy playing a completely different objective just to grind? Multiplayer should be focused on playing and competing, not doing a certain thing a certain way over and over.
this is a must for this game. no one wants to play challenges for 10 years. we need a basic XP levels system or xp to help push us through the battle pass. without it the game will be -Yoink!-. the challenge is get 10 rocket kills. you hop into a game and find 3 of the 8 players camping rockets to try to get their challenge done. after the game you get 2 kills and are called a slur for taking the rocket to get your own challenge done. NO THANKS. I dont want to prioritize my challenge over having fun. there is also something to be said for no basic level system like apex. you can’t tell who has even played the game or for how long? this plus they have no mention of ranked. this is making me not want to buy this game. the game also has a lack of features on launch like online co-op and forge. This is the lightest amount of content in a game with halo on it since halo odst. I have one question. Has 343 even looked at their competition from a critical stand point and said how can we make our live service better then the others? so far all i have seen are bots and non expiring battle passes. gee thanks mean while leveling and core features are left to rot. I hope for our sakes the gun meta is amazing because for 6 months we wont get changes until forge comes out. I can only wonder what kind of turd they were going to dribble out of their -Yoink!- with that joke of a release trailer a year ago.
I’m sure they’ll fix it in 6 - 12 months. Battlepasses and exp are optional things
I think they should use a system similar to what Fortnite uses, where in addition to completing challenges, you can also gain xp from finishing a match, winning a match, how many kills you got, objectives completed etc. Campaign progress should also contribute to battle pass xp.
Big agree. I think this is sadly one of those things that will take a season or two to change. Considering how happy people were when they added actual ranks to MCC, I really don’t understand why they would launch Infinite without match XP.
Not being able to earn BP progress through regular XP makes the game much more of a chore and makes players less likely to play together. To quote a post I recently made, there are a few reasons why the current progression system is bad for the game:
- Players don’t all have the same challenges and can re-roll them into different ones, incentivizing players to play separately so they can each grind out their individual challenges for the day instead of being rewarded for simply playing the game how they want (and with their buddies). - Itcaps the amount of grinding someone can do in a day. If you really want your players to grind your game’s Battle Pass, then limiting their ability to do so could irritate many, even if there are a lot of daily challenges to complete. - Not being able to earn XP and progress just by playing discourages play once someone has completed their challenges. - The daily challenges turn each day into a grind, one that many players will feel trapped by. - It limits player choice to be forced to earn Battle Pass progress a certain way, instead of just playing what appeals to them. This sense of obligation can kill a game by itself. If players cannot earn a meaningful amount of Battle Pass progress just by playing the game, then players will be less engaged and feel a greater sense of obligation. If 343 doesn’t want to turn Halo into a chore, as they’ve said repeatedly about the progression system, then they shouldn’t make it into a player-specific laundry list of things to do.
