I mean, Chrono Trigger is fairly brief and it’s like THE SNES JRPG to play.
But yeah you’re not wrong, it just seems gratuitous to me personally given how Bungie’s Halos were mostly quick and had a brisk pace that made replaying it so much more inticing. Make a game too long, and you risk that replay value, and to me personally replay value is extremely important. After all I am a Metroid fan, and Metroid games are always more fun the second or third time around as you grow more familiar with the layout and learn exploits to make things even speedier.
Like I’ve replayed Reach, CE, 2, and 3 about 4 times a piece simply for the fun of it. ODST is a bit slower but I’ve replayed that twice at least. And that brevity helps their replay value, ESPECIALLY in the MCC where you can marathon (hehe) them in chronological order.
I have replayed the entiere series at least twelve times over (except Halo 4 and Halo 5. 4 I have replayed probably six times and 5 maybe three times.)
Replay value also depends on the missions you have available. I replayed probably CE’s Halo, Silent Cartographer, and Assault on the Control Room perhaps more than any other missions in the franchise.
Gameplay is solid but also each mission should feel special.
People griped that after the Library, the last three missions were remixes of old missions; but honestly; they had to do that due to time constriants.
In fact, due to time constraints; Halo CE was cut down from TWENTY-FIVE MISSIONS to just 10.
Which I am honestly sad about since Captain Keyes didn’t get his running gag.
(he hated closed doors and was going to have a running gag of opening doors. Hence the name “Keyes” xD.)
That’s an interesting take on Cortana (in a good way), when you think about the rampant AI trope. Especially since Bungie’s marathon series had a rampant ai if I am not mistaken haha

???
Yes they are from marathon.
Why would 343 use them?
Im confused by this post tbh.
I never said anything to the effect of 343i outting marathon stuff in halo, not sure where you got that impression.
I qas responding to bambs list above.
They might pull a Battlefront 2 with this game, but I’m not going to hold my breathe; it’s just gone on too long. The only time the higher ups move with purpose is when they accidentally trigger Twitter. Beyond that as things stand now they’re content to watch both the game and franchise struggle in it’s death throes.
X3 Derp, I misread what you meant when you mentioned them.
For some reason I thought you meant inserting them into the narrative of Halo 4 and 5, but you were literally just mentioning them as other examples of rogue AI.
My bad, your confusion is totally justified.
