You know what's frustrating?

I got into Halo because the MCC dropped on PC, and I adored it. Even 4, which was wonky but had moments that felt sincere and badass.

But Halo Infinite is the very first Halo game I’ve ever played at launch, and I can’t help but feel like I’ve missed out and am being taken advantage of.

I’m still gonna play it, I’m not great but I play often and I love what they got right so much, but it just feels like I’m gonna have to wait years for stuff other Halo fans who started earlier got to experience at or at least near launch.

On top of that, it feels like I can’t criticize or talk about my problems with the game and feel heard.

I’m sticking around on Halo Infinite, I have no current intentions of uninstalling, but I’m just gonna have to accept that the fire and passion that created the franchise is likely long gone, and I can only reminisce for a time I never experienced that has long since passed.

I played Halo CE when I was 7 years old and stuck with Halo to this day. Halo was definitively at its peak at Halo 3. But I’m sure many Halo veterans are still here, even if 343I make some dumb choices. The fans will keep the fire alive, don’t worry

20 year veteran of the games and I still jump on Infinite to play a few matches here and there. Still hold a tiny bit of hope for this game, but as of now with the store being toxic, lack of cosmetics, and the missing basics that the older games had, I am sad about Infinite.

I’m a diehard fanboy with rose-colored glasses that rarely come off, but i’m not so stubborn as to say Infinite isn’t doing so good. But I have faith and always will. I’m stuck on Halo no matter what happens. I started on Combat Evolved and i’ll be here playing Halo until my hands don’t work anymore.

Also I’m confidently going to state that when Season 3 launches, Halo Infinite will be so much better it may be almost unrecognizable. That’s a big statement but I stand behind it

Honestly the thing that hurts the most is I was alive when CE launched. But I liked Nintendo and an Xbox fan in my class kept telling me Nintendo sucked to try to get me to try Halo- which just made me not wanna try it.

I don’t blame them, it was middle school and the Xbox/PS2/GameCube Console War was like the final great Console War before the Wii basically broke Console Wars by being weird and underpowered yet still ultra profitable while the PS3 and Xbox lost their edge trying to copy it.

Years pass, and my curiosity grew over time as I looked on from afar. I eventually got into Red VS Blue cuz I heard it had nothing to do with Halo, plus the fights looked weirdly awesome in the clips I’d been shown. Then I got into some lore for Halo proper. And just as I almost bought an Xbox One S just for the MCC, the MCC came to me on Steam instead.

The horror that gripped me the more I played cannot be described, because if I hadn’t let that kid get into my head back in middle school I’d have been a fan for every single one of the past 20 years.

I was alive, I was there as it all happened, but I stubbornly refused to participate. Only to find myself desperately clinging to it now and basking in the afterglow of nostalgia that I yearn to share.

I mean I have other games, and said games have been pretty dope, but still stings you know? Like looking into a mirror and your reflection just looks you over and says “Wow, you were dumb. Dumb as hell.”

It was hard for a lot of people to drop the brand loyalty. I was a Nintendo loyalist for a long time. Luckily I was surrounded by people who loved Halo and I was able to get into and and board the hype train for Halo 2.
For me, midnight launches were peak hype, but I haven’t been to one of those in maybe a decade?
The future might change, maybe for Halo Infinite 2 343i will finally stick the landing

I still am a Nintendo loyalist, ngl, but Halo CE pretty quickly became my new FPS (Metroid Prime is still my favorite game, but it’s barely an FPS) and now I can’t play an online FPS without wishing I was just on Halo.

BUT HALO INFINITE WON’T GIVE ME STUFF TO DO!!!

Don’t worry bro, with Campaign Co-op and Forge right around the corner I think this game is going to have a resurgence very soon. We’re in this weird state right now where we’re getting to enjoy new stuff but still playing catch-up on old stuff.

Also hell yeah, Metroid Prime is one of the greatest. I loved that game growing up

Honestly it’s really bad for me because I’ve been playing since Halo 2 (went back and played CE, but H2 was my first) and I didn’t really start to become disillusioned until Halo 5 and Infinite has really been a sore patch for me now that I’m older. More and more franchises feel like there’s way less concern about a fun, innovative experience built for the consumer and more and more concern about a microtransaction system to please the shareholders with a half-functioning game attached that gets the bare minimum updates. Infinite has a decent core experience but the content is just not coming fast enough.

Thankfully, at least 343 is self-aware of the situation they’re in and are trying to remedy. It’d be much worse if they straight up did not care and let the game flop like some Devs have done in the past.
I’m glad EA has nothing to do with this franchise.

Recently I’ve started to see insiders mention rumors that S3 is essentially going to be a re-launch of the game. Like a soft reboot almost.

As much as i think the gaming industry as a whole has become filled to the brim with shady business practices, i tend not to succumb to the greed and just enjoy the games for what theyre worth. Ive played halo since CE with halo 2 being my first multiplayer halo and i dont think ill ever stop playing. Im very disappointed with infinite in terms of playable content, but im going to stick it out and see where it goes because the potential is there. I’ll invest a few dollars from time to time in infinite to support the game though and I still have MCC to fall back to. I just enjoy halo too much. I hope something drastic happens with the developers and things improve but even though stuff seems grim, ill stick around.

I truly and honestly believe that with 343 putting bug-fixes and quality of life on as first priority, plus coop and forge coming before S3, and all the new content that will come with S3, Halo Infinite will be back in business. They stated that once the game looks good from a playability perspective, they’re kicking it into overdrive for putting out content which is exciting. not to mention any maps and modes coming during S2.
I hold faith.

That’s because you are missing out on more than half a game. In spite of what anyone says about the game. 343 had no business releasing infinite in the state it is in, and to think they thought most of the players were just going to accept it as is.

If I could add to this, with the way 343i are handling Ultimate Challenges and Events in the game, joining in about 2 years later will lead to many players feeling like they’re missing out on a ton of content.

What? You want to be a Samurai Spartan too? Well, this core was only available for the first few months of the game so you can’t.

Oh, you want this shader? Well, you can’t have it. It appeared in the store 1 year ago and hasn’t appeared since. Should’ve brought it when you had the chance.

The reason I don’t want to get into Destiny now is because I feel like I’ve missed out on a ton of content already. Halo Infinite is meant to last 8 to 10 years (lol, yeah right). If it lasts that long, how much content will be locked behind random weekly challenges or events.

Honestly, whoever came up with this system doesn’t care about the players at all.

Of course, I knew the way Halo 1 and 2 was shaking up the console FPS scene, but I only got into the series starting from Halo 3 (never had the OG Xbox). Have only played some of the mainline games, but used to be utterly addicted to the online multiplayer even if I weren’t (and aren’t!) that great at it.

But now with Infinite, I’m not as inclined to play it so much. It’s also partly because of Game Pass, where there so many other games I could play instead.

Too be honest I just want Halo Infinite to make me feel like the Halo of the old days.

That is what made halo so damn popular.

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

I’ll tell you what’s really frustrating: 343 not learning over the past 10 years at all. Halo has stagnantated, running on an imaginary treadwheel and chasing trends.

But that’s not all that bad, considering all their competitors are doing the same right? Wrong. 343 is running the treadmill while tossing all previously championed Halo features out the window. That’s what pisses me off the most about 343 and Infinite.

This is a terrible analogy but:
Imagine an ice cream bar which has been loved for over 20 years suddenly up and and one day decided “you know what, we wanna stop selling Chocolate flavoured Ice Cream, here’s Salami Ice Cream instead, try it! It’ll be great!”

Yea, that’s 343. That’s what they have done. And now, they want us to lick that Salami Ice Cream and like it. And if we don’t, they’re telling us to go away. All the while assuming someone out there will love the Salami Ice Cream.

If there’s an existing crowd of Salami Ice Cream lovers, that’s great! But there isn’t. People want Sardine Ice Cream (Fortnite) and Tuna Ice Cream (Apex). What’s your Salami gonna bloody do? Meanwhile your Chocolate Ice Cream fans are all gone, going back to their neighbourhood ice cream stalls (MCC) or patronizing other Ice Cream Bars who still sell Chocolate Ice Cream (Splitgate)

F***.

Halo needs to go back to the roots., if Halo tries to be the next COD or Overwatch I think they stand no chance in the competition.
I dont think Halo Infinite will make a big comeback, just look at the games coming in this autumn, COD MWF2 remake, Overwatch 2, Starfield 2023, Forza Motorsport.
In a year there will be a very little user base playing Halo Infinite.
Halo is in the risk zone of beeing a forgotten product.
