If 343i wants teammates to work together and want to win, why don’t they bring back a system like Halo 3’s where if you lose you don’t get anything?
If you get xp for losing than what is the point of winning? that right there is why reach was a terrible game.
and for people who are going to say “well what if I am playing with people who suck and I lose because of them!” PLAY WITH A TEAM, it isn’t hard to get together with your friends who you can actually communicate with, and win with!
I just don’t understand why they would make changes to this game (like the ones in CTF) to promote teamwork, when their ranking up system promotes AFKing and -Yoinking!- around instead of playing to win.
and for people who are going to say “I play multiplayer to have fun, not try hard”, don’t even get me started as to why they were stupid enough to not include a social half and a ranked half like in Halo 3, that was the SMARTEST thing that bungie ever did, and 343i didn’t even acknowledge it.
Believe me, no one, and I mean NO ONE wants an all social -Yoink- around fest like reach was, that was just horrible for people who wanted to have fun by winning.(unless they are the select few selfish -Yoink- who think it should only be social because gaming is for fun, people have a different definition of fun than you! FFS!)
So I really don’t understand what 343i’s version of promoting teamwork is, and I definately don’t understand their reasoning.
I really disagree with everything about your opinions.
And I really don’t understand why people keep making these “teamwork” threads when they haven’t even played the game yet.
Also, you complain about players needing to play on a team. Since you obviously have a team ready to play with you for this game then why are you complaining?

“Dude, have a snickers bar you get cranky when your hungry.”
YOU CAN NOT GIVE THE LOOSING TEAM NOTHING AS XP UNLOCKS ITEMS!
However you can give the winning team much more than the one that lost, and that is what Halo 4 does. So that right there makes it different than Reach. Also there will be a skill based ranking system.
> If you get xp for losing than what is the point of winning? that right there is why reach was a terrible game.
You get more experience for winning. That “performance bonus” they give you? You only get it if you win or do really, really well – which often means finishing in the top three, aka winning.
> Believe me, no one, and I mean NO ONE wants an all social -Yoink!- around fest like reach was, that was just horrible for people who wanted to have fun by winning.(unless they are the select few selfish Yoink! who think it should only be social because gaming is for fun, people have a different definition of fun than you! I actually played Reach instead of Halo 3 for that exact reason. It’s no fun for me if everybody’s in it to win. And for those of you that wanted to play just to win, there are options. Do Arena, or Doubles, or even better, set your search preferences to “Winning” rather than “Having fun.”
So how’s that selfish? Bungie gave us options: options for winning, options for just having fun. Spoiler alert: there’s nothing wrong with losing. In fact, you’re more likely to learn more from failure than you are from success.
There are many factors into how a proper ranking system should work. The incentive to win should be there, but exp shouldnt be based purely on it. A person could have a 2.0 k/d ratio but have a measly .85 W/L ratio. This is why I didnt like Halo 3’s ranking system. It was based purely on victory. I’d much rather go back to Halo 2’s system of exp based on your overall position in the match.
And I agree with Shadow, if you already have a decent team, why should you care? Have you played Reach lately? 2/3 of people who play in Team Slayer, Invasion, and even BTB generally play either by themselves or 3 players or less. Not everyone plays with friends all the time.
If I want to enjoy Halo, and still be a good player while playing, I shouldnt have to be forced to play in a group.

You sir, made me laugh so hard, you get all the internets
Your point would have merit if you always controlled a lobby and had a team that communicated. Maybe 343 needs to make a “Super Team Bad -Yoink-” playlist where it’s all or nothing, win or lose.
But sometimes you play games online with people you don’t know, don’t talk to, and no nothing about. Why should you be penalized for someone else’s ability or inability to play a game? You win XP based on your own merits within the match. You shouldn’t be denied XP because you’re in a CTF game and all someone wants to do is ride a mongoose around because they’re high or something.

I do hope you don’t mean something like a wadger match from COD when you say "Super team badass plalist all or nothing " because we don’t want to introduce something from a call of duty game lest the universe explodes with the rage of a thousand fanboys.
no, everybody should get EXP, no matter if you win or lose. This way, people don’t waste constant hours trying to get enough credits to buy the armor they want, while other people get it in 2 games.
However, the winners should receive a SIGNIFICANT bonus for winning, especially in objective. winning slayer should give you a minimum of 250 bonus. winning objective should give a minimum of 500.
And the separate ranked and social of halo 3 failed hard. people rarely played social, as it offered almost the same stuff as ranked with less competition. The only reason people even bothered to play it was because it had the more random gametypes like action sack and had more playlists that allowed guests. All playlists should either be ranked, or all should be social. there is no functional middleground.
> Have the details concerning the ranking system even been announced yet? I heard there would be one alongside a credit system, or what?
Not much details have been released, but I read a thread about someone who asked Frankie about the ranking system. Apparently there is a rank based on your skill alongside the progression system (it’s most likely playlist specific) that will match you with people of similar rank. You will be able to view your rank in your playercard but other players will not. So basically individual ranks based on skills are there the only difference is other players can not view your rank, only you can.
While there’s merit to what OP is saying, the angry presentation made it hard to take you seriously.
I’m a combination of both of those sets. Sometimes I wanna win, sometimes I really just want to screw around. I think ranks that mean something would be excellent, and have rank and Spartan Points be entirely separate. SP are for buying armor and you get it based on medals and crap. EXP/rank ups should be dependent upon how well you do at the gametype as it is meant to be played. That means doing objective stuff in objective, not just herp-derping all day long farming kills.
Have that be in Ranked, then have Social lists that are just playing for fun and Spartan Points.
This way, your rank would mean more than ‘I’ve played the game longer than you.’ I played Halo 3 for ages and only had a 24. In Reach, I’m a General Grade 4. My Reach rank means nothing.
